GDC Vault Frees Up Bungie Design Talks
The 2010 Game Developer Conference contained a talk by Jaime Griesemer in which he described why the time between shots for the Halo 3 sniper rifle was increased from 0.5 to 0.7 seconds - and right after the event, Bungie released his slides in their Publications archive. (Unfortunately, that archive seems to be offline at this point; we've put up a local copy of the file, but we can't reproduce the entire archive.) The wonderful thing is, Gamasutra has made the video of that talk free - go watch it! (They've also posted a followup, presented at GDC 2011, called 'Design in Detail: Tuning the Muzzle Velocity of the Plasma Rifle Bolt on Legendary Difficulty Across the Halo Franchise' - watch both!) Update: I completely forgot about the halo.bungie.net subdomain; kornman00 reminded me, and clarified that the Publications archive IS, in fact, still online at B.net. Yay! (Louis Wu 20:44:09 UTC)

Halo 4: A Look Back
There's a pretty funny video up currently at Halo Waypoint - it's called 'Halo 4: A Look Back', and it shows off a few of the... well, less polished bits that might not have made it into the final release of the game. Red vs Blue Season 11 has been pretty impressive, all along... but the most powerful episode of the string was released last night. (To understand what that means, swing by and read Miles' post about it - awesome stuff.) Fantastic animation, great humor, a score that every episode should be entitled to... it was fantastic.
