Not a lot of plot - just a well-timed music vid. Great camera work. Grab it in WMP9 format (41.3 mb) or QuickTime format (43 mb). (Louis Wu 19:57:52 UTC)
November 3, 2006 Link to this post MLG TV - lots of teasers Bunch of new video content over at MLGPro.com - you'll find some gameplay stuff linked from Foulacy's blog, and a nice feature on Dave "Walshy" Walsh (included in the longer trailer in that blog, but available on its own, as well) for the upcoming TV season. Thanks to 3Suns for both. (Louis Wu 17:50:10 UTC)
November 3, 2006 Link to this post Outside - The Arbiter EternalScrappy put together 'Outside', a video about the Arbiter set to the eponymous song by Staind. All of his footage came from cutscenes - but he did a fantastic job matching the action to the lyrics. Cinematics, of course, are great - Bungie did 'em. A couple of MPRRS reviewers weren't happy to see purely cutscene footage... but given the limitations, the piece is really well-done. 58.1 mb in WMP9 format, 65.8 mb in QuickTime format. November 2, 2006 Link to this post Static, Episode 2: Last Will and Testament Dennis Powers writes to point out that Static, Episode 2: Last Will and Testament, is now available for download. (Static is the latest story in the Halo CE Chronicles universe.) Petty Officer Alex Hicks thinks he might be stranded alone, forever... but he discovers he's not alone. Grab this version in WMP9, QuickTime, or streaming Flash versions off the the HCEC website. (Louis Wu 21:18:25 UTC)
November 2, 2006 Link to this post The Spartan Effect, Episode 3 Rookie Rabbit Productions are back with Episode 3 of their Spartan Effect series; it passed the MPRRS with flying colors. There's not a lot of action in this episode, but it pushes the plot forward, and it's funny. Very well-filmed (great camera angles), and nice voice acting. Lots of goodies if you keep your eyes open. It's big - 10 minutes long, about 80 mb, depending on version - but definitely worth watching. They've said they don't need hosting - but they've said that before, and it hasn't turned out so well, so we're putting up mirrors anyway. The WMP9 we're hosting (81.5 mb) is the same as you can download from FileFront, off their site - but the QuickTime version (78 mb) is re-encoded, and deinterlaced (the interlacing was getting distracting). Watch this one - and then keep your eyes open for Episode 4! (Louis Wu 15:15:55 UTC)
November 2, 2006 Link to this post Good Morning, Worm, Your Honor... I'd meant to post this yesterday, but things got busy... RVideo went to a little trouble to capture a full view of the Gravemind cutscene in Halo 2, using a devcam. (This is considerably more difficult than it sounds, because that particular scene already has scripted camera motion, rotating around the characters; it's a delicate dance to keep your focus in this environment.) The view he provides allows you to see the entire cave Gravemind is sitting in - and, in fact, all of Gravemind. It's a view behind the curtain; it's like a panning shot that shows you how a filmmaker created a shot in a movie. You see the props that don't normally make it onscreen. It's pretty cool, but if you're one of those that loves the magic of the presentation, you might want to give this a miss, because it definitely shows you where the limits are. (I'm putting a spoiler tag on this post, as well, because Gravemind himself is a Halo 2 story spoiler.) You can grab this in WMP9 format (28.6 mb) or QuickTime format (32.6 mb). I say thanks to RVideo for the peek! (Louis Wu 00:57:53 UTC)
October 30, 2006 Link to this post New Mombasa - A Different View Double News Postage - RVideo also submitted a new piece of work to the MPRRS recently. The first time through, it seems that most of the reviewers didn't get what he was doing. He overhauled the entire piece, incorporating some of the advice they'd given - and though some STILL didn't get it the second time through, enough liked it that it passed. This vid is in the genre - sort of - of Jamie98s's 'Oh So Beautiful' vids; it's a look at Halo from a perspective you don't normally get. (He uses a modded Xbox for the most spectacular stuff.) There are sweeping vistas above the city of New Mombasa, seat-level views from speeding warthogs, stop-motion action sequences. I love it. In a relatively unprecedented move, I'm going to host the first version he submitted, too, because there were a couple of sequences he cut for the passing version which I found exceedingly cool. (The view from the Scorpion's gunner seat at the end of the bridge is one that stands out.) This might not be for everybody - some reviewers totally missed the concept, and marked it down for being boring, or having no real action, or no plot. (Both versions have a similar goal - to give you a view of the city of New Mombasa that you don't get in-game - but the second version did a much better job of tightening in on the concept. However, if you really don't WANT to see another view of the city, you won't find much for you in either version.) Final Version (Niven Edit): WMP9 (21.8 mb) | QT (24.8 mb) Original Version (Lonely Scarab Edit): WMP9 (41.7 mb) | QT (46.8 mb) In any case - I was pretty impressed with it, both as a final product and as an evolution; give it a look, with an open mind... you might be too! (Louis Wu 16:20:19 UTC)
October 30, 2006 Link to this post QsK Icy's First Montage QsK King submitted his clanmate's montage to the MPRRS - they liked it. It seems to end rather abruptly... but other than that, it's a pretty nice piece of work. Almost 6 minutes long, available in WMP9 format (74.1 mb) or QuickTime format (73.1 mb). (Louis Wu 15:08:30 UTC)
October 29, 2006 Link to this post Angels and Airwaves Queef58 submitted 'Angels and Airwaves - The Adventure Music Video' to the MPRRS - the song, set to Halo. Heavy compression makes for small download sizes! Grab it in WMP9 format (24.3 mb) or QuickTime format (28 mb). (Louis Wu 23:08:31 UTC)
October 29, 2006 Link to this post New Montage Offerings at H3F Z pointed out a couple of fun montage vids over at Halo3Forum.com - Typo's First Montage (123 mb, WMP9 format) has tons of nice gameplay strung together well, and GuN Sh0t's Montage 2 Trailer is a short (90 second, 28 mb, WMP9 format) hi-intensity trailer leaving you wanting more. Apparently, there are many more to come. (Louis Wu 13:26:37 UTC)
October 28, 2006 Link to this post Jarhead Halo The second movie to clear yesterday was a trailer called 'Jarhead Halo' - Cydex took the Jarhead trailer, and set it to Halo footage. October 28, 2006 Link to this post Elite vs Elite 4 A couple of movies passed through the MPRRS yesterday - you KNOW I'm sick if I can't keep up with THOSE guys! (I kid, I kid - they've been great recently.) The first was Elite vs Elite 4, another short Spy vs Spy parody. Great sound effects - keep an eye on EternalScrappy! Grab this in WMP9 format (22.3 mb) or QuickTime format (22.7 mb). (Louis Wu 16:13:26 UTC)

October 27, 2006 Link to this post Yehsus Montage One Trailer Yehsus submitted a trailer for his first Halo 2 montage to the MPRRS - they liked the synching, they liked the editing. Editing was done by HD Savage of QsK. It's pretty short - under 2 minutes - because it's just a trailer - give it a watch! 24.9 mb in WMP9 format, 22.8 mb in QuickTime format. (Louis Wu 15:09:00 UTC)
October 27, 2006 Link to this post Go To Sleep Yesterday, EternalScrappy's 'Go To Sleep', a video set to the tune of the same name by Eminem, came through our system - the music's a bit harsher than we usually see around here, but the MPRRS passed it along, so we'll do the same. You probably want to have the volume down if you're watching this at work. WMP9 format or QuickTime format, 33.1 mb. (Louis Wu 15:05:38 UTC)

Check out the trailer! (Louis Wu 12:51:56 UTC)
October 24, 2006 Link to this post Elite vs Elite Eps 1, 2, 3 Wow. eternalscrappy submitted three short films to the MPRRS yesterday - Elite vs Elite 1, 2, and 3 - and all 3 passed, in short order. They're in the style of Spy vs Spy (if you grew up reading Mad Magazine), and they're pretty funny. Short and sweet - if they're not your style, we didn't waste much of your time. You can grab each episode in either QuickTime or WMP9 format - your call. Ep 1 WMP9 (14.3 mb) | QT (13.8 mb) Ep 2 WMP9 (12.9 mb) | QT (12.5 mb) Ep 3 WMP9 (12.6 mb) | QT (11.4 mb) (Louis Wu 17:33:14 UTC)

October 21, 2006 Link to this post Terminal Dogs - Redux A couple of weeks ago, we mentioned the machinima project 'Terminal Dogs' - it was being hosted on machinima.com and YouTube. I guess Krad Productions wanted to widen the viewership, because they submitted the film to the MPRRS - and the reviewers liked it. We're hosting a WMP9 version (24.7 mb) and a QuickTime version (23.3 mb). Once again - this is a couple of scenes from the fantastic movie 'Reservoir Dogs', recreated in Halo. (Louis Wu 16:54:09 UTC)
