Kittenz. Not just for dinner any more.
We didn't do anything for you for Valentine's Day - but Bungie did. Frankie put together a huge list of Halo lovin'... go read, and find a site or three you've never seen (but should have!). He even gives props to Stuntmutt (though I'm surprised the list of qualifiers on the compliment didn't come with "pages with a double 't' in them"...). (Louis Wu 03:54:49 UTC)

Weekly Fanfic Update
Seventeen new pieces in the Fan Fiction section this week - go read. (Side note: I try to post fanfic on Fridays - but sometimes Fridays are crazy days, and it doesn't happen. There is almost nothing related to the administration of this website more annoying than being publicly berated for not posting someone's content; if you think I've slighted you, you're welcome to send me email, but posting in a public forum is NOT the way to get on my good side. There's a new rule related to the Fan Fiction section: if you post publicly, asking why I haven't put up your story yet, your story will be deleted from the queue. Petty? Yep. Will it get the message across to folks who are just a little too impatient for my tastes? ::shrug:: I don't know - but either way, the problem is solved, as far as I can see.) Halo Movie News
You might remember LatinoReview.com - last November, they posted a review of the Halo script, which stirred up a little bit of controversy. Today, they posted a review of the Casino Royale script... and buried at the bottom is a small note of interest to Halo movie news watchers:

Also we just got word that D.B. Weiss, the writer of the excellent spec script KASHMIR, which was one of my top 5 scripts of 2004 is rewriting HALO. Expect an official announcement soon.

Go read the rest of it for El Mayimbe's comments... and this time around, think twice before screaming "fake!" (It'll be interesting to see if/when this news makes it public in more standard channels...) (Louis Wu 14:50:57 UTC)

Coming Soon... The Heretic
On the anniversary of their first episode, the Codex Series team has released information about The Heretic, a new series in production. Cause for excitement from folks who like good machinima! Thanks to many for noticing - but squattingb was first ( even beating Nerrolken's own email by a couple of hours). Go read about it! (Louis Wu 14:31:18 UTC)

Purgatory, Probiotics, and those damned Scots
Jillybean updated the Halo Story Page this morning - but the note got lost in the flurry of Vista-related mail. You should go read it, if you like having your brain wrapped around like pretzel dough. (Louis Wu 19:36:51 UTC)

Stubbs - His Own Zombie
Speaking of Rampancy.net, the next part of Narcogen's in-depth discussion of Stubbs the Zombie has been posted; this one delineates many differences between Stubbs and the Master Chief - but also some similarities. Nice work! Go read. (Louis Wu 20:27:22 UTC)

Free Red Bull
MLGPro's Player of the Week this week is TuLegit - 15 years old, and with a pretty dang impressive performance at MLG Chicago. Go read about it! Thanks, 3Suns. (Louis Wu 22:36:34 UTC)

Friday's Fanfic - a day late
SPARTAN-034 reminded me that I'd forgotten to post the weekly Fan Fiction update yesterday (probably because he had a story in the batch) - they're up now. 22 pieces - go read! (Louis Wu 21:19:52 UTC)

The Loltruck - rocking your world.
Frankie's posted the Weekly Update (and once again frustrated forum denizens longing to out-First him). There's a bunch of useful answers to questions asked on our forum (and elsewhere), and NEW WALLPAPERS at b.net (breathtaking - you gotta go look, and thank agdTinMan). And titillating information about how the Bungie Princess plans to spend her Superbowl time. (I'm pretty sure I saw that movie...) And oh, yeah... the cover of a certain upcoming CD. That some people are sort of looking forward to. Or something. GO READ! (Don't forget - you can read it in our Weekly Update Archive, too.) (Louis Wu 01:48:04 UTC)

Tied the Leader gets cerebral
There are a pair of pretty interesting new blog entries over at Tied the Leader - XerxdeeJ wonders if who you are in real life ever bleeds over into your Halo gameplay... and Wheels (a clanmate of deeJ) discusses your brain, and how to get it into the zone where you can be the most effective. Go read! (Louis Wu 13:51:55 UTC)

Hotshy lays out the Double Shot
Over at Team[3D], you'll find a pretty cool piece where F13ND and Hotshy explore the glitch known as Double Shot - do it right, you get a 6-bullet burst from your BR, instead of 3. There are upsides (obviously) and downsides to using this, and it's non-trivial to time right, so go read all the details! (Louis Wu 15:25:55 UTC)

Up, Up, and Away
Ducain dropped me an email last night about a new vid that showed up on High Impact Halo's forum recently - and he was right, it was pretty amazing. This has got to be one of the highest grenade-assisted jumps... ever. (It's so high that the jumper's shield begins to recharge before he reaches the top... that's absurd.) Go read Duke's writeup, download the vid. (Video quality is not really high to begin with - but if you're having trouble with the WMP9, I've put up a QuickTime (16.3 mb), just for fun.) Angel Dust. Sort Of.
Mintz points out a bunch of new content over at Halo: Portable - MLG stuff, but also that Lord of Halo movie we mentioned recently. (Okay, he's not hosting that - he's just pointing to the same Google link we did, except telling you to pick 'PSP' from the drop-down menu... but hey, where would you be without him telling you that?) Go read. And watch. (Louis Wu 08:33:41 UTC)

A Slice of Mango (just a little drippy)
Ack! Pete Parsons, Bungie's Studio Manager for the last 3 years (and a little), is retiring. It's probably just as well, once folks get a look at the picture that graces his farewell interview at Bungie.net... go read, and get a sense of who this guy is, just before he takes his spectabulous marketing skills off into the sunset (but cover your eyes at the picture). Pete - we're gonna miss ya. (Louis Wu 00:49:26 UTC)

MLG Noob Guide, Part III
Preston Heckel noticed that the next installment of MLG's Newcomer's Guide to Halo 2 has been posted at MLGPro.com - this one focuses on Teamwork. There are great tips in there; some stuff is common sense, other stuff is not, ALL of it is stuff you should be thinking about when playing team games. Positioning, weapon control, powerups, map control, spawning issues... it's all good. Go read. (There's one more part coming.) (Louis Wu 15:34:57 UTC)

Doing Live Right
Saw this a couple of days ago - but it took DstrucTSions to get me off my butt about it. Over at Geezer Gamers, JameyT has written a fun article about 'Doing Life Right' - and guess which game is held up a shining example that others should follow? Yep, Halo 2. Go read! (Louis Wu 20:42:44 UTC)
