It's all about the hype.

When it stops being fun, you're missing the point.

The Thunder and the Surf
Cocopjojo let us know that you can find The Thunder and the Surf, the third and final part of vociferous' examination of the Halo 3 terminals, over at Ascendant Justice. (If you haven't read the first two parts, they're linked here.) It's a fantastically in-depth look at Mendicant Bias, one if the primary players throughout the terminals, and the role he's played throughout the game, and it's a must-read for anyone looking to understand the deeper implications of the Halo storyline. It's peppered with gorgeous panoramas, as well. All in all, a very impressive piece. Go read it! (Louis Wu 15:03:47 UTC)

I've Got Wood.
On March 3, Stuntmutt reached a milestone for his One One Se7en comic - 777 main-category strips. He was torn - it was time to wrap up the strip, and he was two months shy of his fifth anniversary... but 777 was too good a number not to stop on. He did, however, plan a release on April 30, to commemorate that five year stretch. I wish I could say that I chose to hold off a day in posting news of that strip in order to emphasize the punchline... but that would be giving myself too much credit. Go read One One Se7en, and pretend it's yesterday. And don't forget to wish Stunt a Happy Anniversary! (Louis Wu 12:16:54 UTC)

Wind Chill Factor
ZZoMBiE13 was very nice about it - but I screwed up, and forgot to post yesterday's Another Halo Comic Strip. Which is too bad, because it's pretty darned insightful. Well, I guess it's okay, because you can read it now! So go read it now, and become aware of one of the lesser-known dangers of Avalanche. (Louis Wu 14:18:08 UTC)

Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack - Press Frenzy
As has been mentioned a couple of times, Bungie held a press event last week for the Legendary Map Pack - and two of the invitees came from fansites. KP was there representing HBO, and TTL L Askan was there representing Tied the Leader. Writeups from both individuals are fascinating reads - we've got KP's here, and L Askan's is posted at Tied The Leader (duh). [side note: the final section of KP's piece just made me laugh. A lot. -ed] Other media outlets have released, or will be releasing, their own coverage today, since the embargo has been lifted - You can go read 1Up's recap (with video walkthroughs of the maps), a TeamXbox preview (impressions, mostly), and an official writeup on Xbox.com. (There were a couple of other gaming news outlets there, as well - but their writeups aren't online at this point. We'll add them when they appear.) There's also a preview at x360.com.au - they weren't at this particular event, but they got their hands on the maps, as well, and have added their thoughts to the mix. Get to reading! Panoramas, and Bungie's lighting code
WNxSajuukCor ran into a problem with lighting when building large panoramas - though it could be argued that his 'problem' is actually not a 'problem' at all. Go read about it, and check out the image he was working on. (Personally, I LIKE the lighting as it turned out.) (Louis Wu 16:40:07 UTC)

You'd think, after ALMOST missing the posting of Another Halo Comic Strip on Thursday, I'd be more careful for a little while... nope. I missed Saturday's posting, because... ah, I have no excuse. It's too bad, though, because ZZoMBiE13 is tackling the tough subjects these days - this one has science, and everything. Go read. (Louis Wu 03:49:58 UTC)

Halo Story Page - It's Alive!
UNSC Trooper has jumped into the updating game with a vengeance - the Halo Story Page has seen more activity in the past 4 days than it saw in the prior 6 months. (Jillybean, not to be outdone, has popped her own post up on top - but I'd have to say the driving force is Trooper right now.) Will this spawn a new round of Halo Story speculation? We can only wait and see! In the meantime, go read the goodies posted recently! (Louis Wu 14:37:43 UTC)
