Kinship
There's an interesting article about the PMS Clan (and Hot Chief, the head PMS' Delta Division) in the Miami New Times - go read about what they deal with, and why they do it. (Louis Wu 13:14:25 UTC)

Crackdown - Lovin' the help from Halo 3
MTV.com has an interesting article about Crackdown, and the things its developers have done to make sure it gets into the hands of gamers. The Halo 3 beta invite that will come with each launch copy is not by far the only thing added to be sure that players 'get it' - I don't have a 360 yet, but after reading the article, I want to go out and try Crackdown. The Halo spin, of course, is the relation between Crackdown and the Halo 3 Beta - but what's interesting is that the developer didn't feel like the inclusion of the invite was a slight. Go read. Thanks to 3Suns for the heads-up. (Louis Wu 13:32:15 UTC)

Fresh Meat

Making Fun Games
GamesIndustry.biz sat down with Max Hoberman, of Certain Affinity (and recently of Bungie), to discuss his new venture, and how he got to where he is. Bunch of Bungie trivia in there, and some good Halo stuff. Max has positive things to say about Halo 3's multiplayer - "It's years ahead of everything that's out there." Go read the rest of the article. I found this via Eurogamer, but it looks like GhaleonEB posted a link while I was still snug in my bed. (Louis Wu 15:17:08 UTC)

MLG Content
3Suns noticed a couple of new features at MLGPro.com - there's a Pro Player feature on Walshy linked on the front page, and a wrap-up of the Division II Halo 2 Final for their Online tournament. Go read! (Louis Wu 15:00:33 UTC)

Halo 3's Shield Bubble
Over at the Halo 3 Data Archive, there's an article about the shield bubble from Halo 3 (visible in the Halo 3 Commercial), and how it might be implemented, and controlled, in-game. There are a lot of assumptions (and frankly, some circular reasoning), but the fact is, Bungie hasn't given us much to go on yet, and this article does its best to make the most of what we DO have. Go read it, and toss in your own two cents! Thanks, Lyca. (Louis Wu 17:01:44 UTC)

That's one rude URL, KP
Over at Bungie.net, you'll find a Community Spotlight shining on Nosferatu_Soldie, a Bungie.net moderator. Wanna see what the moderators do? Go read. Looks like KP tried to tell us about it a bunch of hours ago... oops. (Louis Wu 23:58:22 UTC)

Separating the Meat from the Fluff
Games in Action interviewed Shishka, recently of Bungie and now of Certain Affinity, the gaming company started in Austin by Halo 2 and 3 Multiplayer Lead Max Hoberman. Go read to get a feel for where he started, how he got to where he is now, and what's he's doing in his new job. Thanks to 3Suns, who noticed this at Bungie.net. (Louis Wu 15:01:06 UTC)

Wow. Is it 2007 already? If you're just waking up from a dream about gods bowling, and you're wondering what happened in the Halo universe since 2005... check out the new top story at Bungie.net. KP's laid down all the important happenings for 2006. Well, except for all my eBay purchases - where are those, I ask you? Go read. (Louis Wu 19:59:37 UTC)

Bungie's Blue Harvest
IGN has posted a 2-page article discussing why Bungie is so secretive about Halo 3 info. There's not a lot here that isn't common sense - but it seems that common sense is a bit less common than one would hope, so if you're an Insider, go read. (If you're not an Insider, you can't see it anyway; summary is "secrecy keeps the game from being ruined for you".) Thanks to COwOnTheNews for the heads-up. (Louis Wu 12:59:29 UTC)

Mashed Jaffa Cakes
At Bungie.net, you'll find a really short Bungie Weekly Update - Frankie is totally insane, and is lucky not to be dead right now, and he also broke all sorts of speeding limits in the last 24 hours, but we love him anyway. Go read about some general, but heartening, plans for the Halo online community in the coming months. (As always, you can read it in our Weekly Update Archive, as well.) (Louis Wu 23:31:40 UTC)

Baby Bird Xrays
The last Bungie Weekly Update of the year is up - looks like Frankie's all alone in the Bungie offices. Go read, then have some eggnog, even if Frankie says it's terrible. Because it's not. Eggnog rocks. As always, you can read it at Bungie.net, or you can read it in our Weekly Update Archive. (Not bad, btw - 104 weekly updates in 110 weeks. That's not a lot of slacking!) And he added in some great pics to try and distract you from the fact that he's got no more screenshots for you. Go read! (Louis Wu 21:17:34 UTC)

Over at Bungie.net is a writeup of Penny Arcade's Child's Play charity auction and dinner - and Bungie's part in it. (The Halo 3-related prizes were to die for... and the money they raised... well, go read.) RvB - you guys rock. Thanks to jman571 for the heads-up. (Louis Wu 02:43:53 UTC)

Interview with Bungie at CVG
ComputerAndVideoGames was one of the press groups that showed up at Bungie's offices a couple of months ago to play some Alpha Halo. Their interview with Bungie employees that day went live this morning. A lot of the info has already found its way to the public via one of the other press groups there that day, but it's still got some nice nuggets - for example, I don't remember reading about the Veto system before this. Go read! (I heard this via Google News Alerts, but Justinian managed to post it to our forum before I got a chance to write the news note.) Update: According to XBWFeenix, this interview first appeared in the Official Xbox 360 Magazine (UK). (Louis Wu 14:31:34 UTC)

Confirmed: Pistol De-Nerfed
Whoa. The Bungie Weekly Update is up WAY early this week - and it's WAY short. (The Bungie building lost power, so Frankie wrote it from a nearby coffee house.) There's some clarification of yesterday's Brute fiasco (nice to hear that you won't need a 360 to watch the documentary), and some fun stuff about Penny Arcade's Child's Play charity dinner last week. Go read, either at Bungie.net or in our Weekly Update Archive! (Thanks to zugy for noticing this before I headed out this evening.) (Louis Wu 21:13:09 UTC)

Ve are NOT losink that ship, darlink!
Bizarre - Sep7imus ran across an interview with Julie Benz (the voice actress who plays Miranda Keyes in Halo 2) - the end of the interview contained questions about Halo 2, and some perplexing information:

TVGuide.com: Are you all done with your voice work for the Halo 3 video game?
Benz: You know what? I am actually not a part of Halo 3. I was informed a couple of weeks ago that they are actually changing the voice of Captain Miranda Keyes, and giving her an accent.

TVGuide.com: Are you serious?! What kind of an accent?
Benz: I have no idea. [Laughs] They didn't even entertain the idea of having me do it, so... I was very sad. I was very sad. I had such a great time doing Halo 2.

An accent? I wonder why? There are more Halo-related questions in the interview - go read! (Louis Wu 13:46:22 UTC)
