- Forerunners.org is much closer to opening than it has been
- There's some crack-fueled speculation about the future of Halo - and even a new name for the hat containing potential Mac porting companies
Stop by, check it out! These guys should be on your rounds list, for sure - they're usually on mine, but life's been crazy recently. (Louis Wu 13:17:41 UTC)
June 11, 2002 Link to this post Dick Van Dyke + Halo = ... A fun little movie came in recently from Halo-Wannabe, an HBO forum regular. 6 megs, just under 2 minutes, in QT5 format - it should definitely make you smile. You can find it at mythica.org. Check it out! (Louis Wu 09:06:20 UTC)
June 10, 2002 Link to this post Nice fins... One of these days, a new section will come online here at HBO - it'll house some of the cool mod-related artwork that's sprung up in the past few months. Until then, though, new submissions will continue to go into the Miscellaneous Art section... like this rendering of a Scorpion motion-tracking missile (described in 'The Fall of Reach', and featured in Stormsinger's upcoming Skyhawk model). Check it out! (Louis Wu 01:31:14 UTC)
May 30, 2002 Link to this post E3 Photos from the Canucks Heh - Daniel (Finn), of Team 7hr33, has put up a page of images commemorating his (and Rich's (Shovelface's)) visit to E3 - dinner with Bungie, Fanfest shenanigans, and a very freaky accident involving a man in a palm tree. Check it out! (Visit the Team 7hr33 website, and then hit the 'Bungie Trip 2002' link about halfway down the Index.) A nicer pair of guys you won't find. (Though put guns in their hands, and it's a whole different story...) (Louis Wu 08:08:02 UTC)

May 6, 2002 Link to this post XBConnect v1.1 released HUNTR-KILLR writes to let us know that XBConnect (one of the three options you have for playing Halo online right now, and by some accounts the least laggy) has a new release out, as of this weekend. Version 1.1 adds these features: - Host can see players pings
- Players can see all players in game
- Language filter
- Full games show up in red
- Fixed bug in adapter list. Should help some people finding xbox
- Customizable sound events
Check it out at the XBConnect site, and download the latest version! (Louis Wu 15:56:59 UTC)
April 21, 2002 Link to this post Sarge's got nothing on her... Wow... a female marine concept sketch. (Okay, it's more than a sketch.) Very nice work by Daniel.C. Check it out in our bulging Miscellaneous Art section. (Louis Wu 17:49:58 UTC)
April 20, 2002 Link to this post Jaime Griesemer in April Edge The April issue of Edge Magazine (a very high-quality gaming mag in the UK) has an interview with Jaime Griesemer, one of Halo's Designers. It's a good read (and got me wondering where the 'weak spots' on a tank are...) - you can find it, scanned in for those without access to the dead tree version, over at Subnova.com. Check it out! (Louis Wu 16:02:23 UTC)
April 12, 2002 Link to this post Halo Story updates Goodness, almost forgot... the Halo Story page got a couple of updates recently! (mnemesis did a bang-up job covering the recent rash of Halo theories which flooded our forum...) Check it out, and add your own! (Louis Wu 18:42:43 UTC)
April 8, 2002 Link to this post Another killer Halo movie trailer When Brian Josselyn, of Blackstar Productions, released 'Halo: The Movie', a 'trailer' of a ficticious Halo movie, Bungie employee Dave Candland asked, "Want a job at MS marketing? ;)" He was kidding... but Brian's most recent production, 'Halo: The Movie Teaser', shows it wasn't a fluke. If Bungie ever DOES make this movie, the advertising work is well underway. :) You can find this latest movie (1:34, 10.6 mb, QT5) at Brian's mac.com space, or at mythica.org (with perpetual thanks to Brian Towne). We'll set up a mirror page as soon as a few folks volunteer to help with this puppy (hint, hint). Check it out - you won't regret the download. ObSpoilerWarning: There are minor spoilers here, though nothing as strong as the first one. (Which we forgot to warn you of. Sorry...) Finally, Brian has also put together a newsletter to give people some more information about what he does - you can find it here. (Louis Wu 03:30:44 UTC)

April 4, 2002 Link to this post Massive Gameplay Tricks update Yes, it took FOREVER - but the Gameplay Tricks queue is CLEARED! There are 10 new entries, almost all from new tricksters - the collection is seriously eclectic. 8 new tricksters, 9 maps covered... explore. Highlights for me included the cool teleporting marines glitch on Silent Cartographer and the gorgeous vistas found above the waterfall on Halo... but it's all good. Go check it out! (One-Shots should be coming in the next few days... if all goes well.)
April 4, 2002 Link to this post Japanese box art The Japanese box art for Halo on Xbox is up at the Japanese Amazon web site. Check it out here. Pax. (Crux Fidelis 17:42:39 UTC)
March 30, 2002 Link to this post Locked doors? Pshaw! There's a pretty big backup in the Gameplay Tricks queue, but time is short this weekend. I'm putting up a recent exploration by Frogblast - it stands alone, unlike some of the other entries. Check it out for some freaky behavior in Two Betrayals! (Louis Wu 21:44:41 UTC)
March 30, 2002 Link to this post PS and Xbox Hardcore rates Halo PS2 and Xbox Hardcore have posted their Halo review - and while it glows, there are a few odd things about it. They list a 60hz mode for PAL for it, though for the past week or so, that's been just about the biggest gripe on our forum (the LACK of a useful 60hz PAL mode)... they list 4 players in the info box (though the review itself correctly states that up to 16 can play), and they give it an overall rating of 91%, though their individual scores are all much higher (graphics: 94%; sound: 96%; playability: 94%). It's a good read, though - check it out. (We've added it to our Reviews Database - currently at 108 reviews, average 94.8%.) (Louis Wu 00:54:46 UTC)

Check it out. Update: Total new tricks for the day has been bumped to 6 - I'd forgotten one! Ouch. (Louis Wu 18:03:10 UTC)

(Louis Wu 17:35:02 UTC)
