More Mehve Marvelousness
Two years ago, Lorraine McLees spent a good chunk of her time at the Bungie E3 Fanfest drawing on-the-spot graphics for raffle winners (and, accidentally, for me) - we posted a note about one of the images she did, for Eric Good, last year... and this weekend, Cunbelin dug out and sent along his own image, another very cool sketch whipped out in minutes by a master. Check it out! (One of these days, we'll have to put together a gallery for these; I'm sure there are more out there.) (Louis Wu 20:38:52 UTC)

See You In A Fortnight.
The man is gone - in more ways than one. Stuntmutt gets married today, and in honor of this auspicious occasion, he's created a very special One One Se7en - check it out. (As yesterday's strip mentioned, the next two weeks will be covered by guest artists - we've got some pretty good stuff for you in the wings, so stay tuned!) (Louis Wu 11:18:20 UTC)

Halo Positioning
Jillybean snagged a nice analysis post off our forum yesterday, for the Halo Story Page - a polished look at the effects of knocking out Installation 04 on the Halo network. I've HTML-ized Bronzite's PDF for easier online reading. Check it out. (Louis Wu 14:35:08 UTC)

An Interesting Similarity
A Jolly Old Soul sent along an interesting tidbit for your perusal - a comparison between the Halo 3 trailer and an older cinematic work. He clearly says he's not accusing Bungie of stealing - but the visual similarity is definitely intriguing. Check it out! (Louis Wu 16:17:20 UTC)

The WPI Map
GT Juggler has just finished up his first year at WPI, and he and some friends have released a playable map of the campus, so that EVERYONE can enjoy fragging each other at his school. The download is 24.5 mb for HaloCE, or 25.7 mb for Xbox (you'll need a modded Xbox to play this one). There's a movie on the site, as well, showing a runthrough of the map - it looks amazing! (WPI is like any other college in America, it seems, except that all the faculty drive red warthogs.) Check it out! (Louis Wu 17:21:03 UTC)

He'll Make You An Offer That You Can Refuse If You Want
Halo 3 Boards has an interview with our own distinguished Louis Wu, the "Godfather of HBO" (also known as the "Legal Guardian, Babysitter, and Annoyingly Wiser Cousin of HBO"). Anyway, check it out, and take a look around there while you're at it! (mnemesis 16:18:55 UTC)

Bungie Needs a New Webmaster

(To be fair, Cybrfrk pointed this out to me a week ago, but I wasn't sure it was a new listing...) (Louis Wu 21:46:24 UTC)

Stephen Loftus has released a couple of new images of his 'In Amber Clad' scratchbuilt model - we've added them (and his descriptive text) to his progress page here at HBO. Check it out - fiber-optic lighting looks pretty slick! (Louis Wu 03:54:57 UTC)

A Labor of Love
SIRBOE created a really amazing-looking Halo sword (you gotta take a close look at the handle), and sent us a bunch of pics. At first glance, there are a lot of dupes - but he wanted to get a bunch of different angles to show you all the details. (For each pic, there are a couple of filtered variations - an inverted image which looks 'blue', and a glowing version.) Check it out - that is one sweet piece of work! (Louis Wu 05:23:16 UTC)

Operation: Backwash Trailer
Treeskunk Productions, the guys behind Outpost: Coagulation, have started a new series, entitled 'Outpost: Backwash'. The series trailer made it through the MPRRS yesterday; they weren't looking for hosting, but since their downloads page offers only WMP9 format (22.9 mb), we're providing a QuickTime link (21.4 mb). Looks to be funny, well-filmed, entertaining - check it out! (Louis Wu 12:58:21 UTC)

Count the Shells
If you're in New York state, about an hour north of the city, there's a tourney at the Hudson Valley Mall in Kingston this weekend (Google maps), hosted by True Skill Gaming. Details (and an email contact) can be found in this flyer. A significant chunk of the HBO staff will be there - not me, unfortunately, but Ding, KP, and probably Count Zero will be in attendance. Check it out! (Louis Wu 16:13:06 UTC)

Dual-Thumbstick Virtual Keyboards?
Evil Otto dropped by our forum today, and in the midst of a discussion on Needler-wielding Sentinels and their presence in Halo 2, mentioned an interview he did for Macromedia on using Director to prototype the UI in the game. It's a great article with a bunch of cool info in it, including a demo movie made to present one version of the UI to the rest of the development team. See if you can spot some names in the movie. Check it out! (mnemesis 01:26:48 UTC)
