For the record, rocks aren't people.
Episode 5 of Red vs Blue was released yesterday to sponsors - it'll be available to the public in the next 12-18 hours. This one's a plotbuilder... but it's still pretty darn funny. Check it out, as soon as you're able! 15-35 mb, depending on which version you download. Update: Once again, Halo-Game in France has mirrored this episode; check 'em out if you're having trouble with the main site! (Louis Wu 01:22:44 UTC)

Halo - The Card Game
Whoa. Ceri Thomas has created a Halo card game - and at first blush, it's pretty dang high quality. Rules (and cards) come in the form of a 2.2 mb PDF; download it, print it on cardstock, and cut it up. I haven't actually played it... but the rules are pretty clear, and seem to be well thought-out. A forum post has been pretty positive so far, and has a mirror for the pdf - at Halo-Game, in France. Check it out. (Louis Wu 01:40:21 UTC)

Ode to a Shotgun
Slothboy let us know about 'Ash vs. The Covenant', his tribute to the Halo WAST-M. Check it out - timing is QUITE good. (Format is mpeg-4; QuickTime 6 will open it, but I'm not sure about other programs.) 9.2 mb, 1:26 long. Two thumbs up. Minor spoilers, for anyone keeping track. (Louis Wu 01:15:16 UTC)

The Dream Team Defends
AGP's Spring 2003 Halo Championship (which took place in Nashville, TN last weekend) was won by The Dream Team, including Dustin Langton (Darkman), again. (Darkman also took home the Halo National Championship title last year... he proves, again and again, that his wins aren't flukes, he really is that good.) There's a writeup of the event over at Bungie.net - go check it out! (Louis Wu 18:33:20 UTC)

However, we DO have a new desktop image for you, in three sizes, courtesy of Snide Limits. Check it out in our Wallpaper section. (Louis Wu 09:24:55 UTC)

Make 'em do the wave, dude...
Recently, BOLL added yet another cool Flash animation to his Halo-related stable. You can see it in our forum, or you can check it out on its own in our Miscellaneous section. (The animation itself is tiny - 12k.) They make me giggle... (Louis Wu 12:57:45 UTC)

A behind-the-scenes look at Halo dev
Props to Aginor, for finding a pretty interesting presentation by Adrian Perez, Gameplay and Graphics Programmer for Bungie, who talked for MSImpact, a Microsoft-sponsored student organization at CMU, about some of the deficiencies of Halo: CE, and what Bungie is doing to make Halo 2 better. It's a fascinating read. Head over to Unlimited Lives to check it out! (Louis Wu 15:40:13 UTC)

Carnage for the Holidays - a little late
John Yates points out a pretty funny little film over at G4Tv. It's called Happy Halo Days, and was obviously made for the Christmas season - but this is the first we've heard of it. It's in streaming Windows Media format; I couldn't find any tools that actually saved this puppy. Check it out! (Louis Wu 18:35:40 UTC)

Easter Egg Info
We get an awful lot of mail from folks who seem to be confused about what constitutes an 'easter egg'. So much, in fact, that it was finally worth my time to write an Easter Egg FAQ, of sorts. Check it out for what we consider eggs - and what we don't. (Suggestions welcome, but there's no guarantee we'll agree with you.) (Louis Wu 19:39:29 UTC)

Sarge Rocks
lol - When I saw the headline from Bungie.net ('Happy (Belated) Warthog Day!'), I thought, in my Halo-saturated mind, that Bungie was paying tribute to the one-year anniversary of Randy Glass' Warthog Jump. Silly me - I forgot there's a world outside these walls! And every year on February 2, Punxsutawney Phil goes looking for his shadow... this year, in honor of the little 'hog, Bungie has posted a warthog-related comic, starring some of our favorite Halo characters. Check it out! (Louis Wu 09:19:12 UTC)

Bernie Freidin interviewed at Xbox.com... sort of
Recently, we mentioned an interview at the Australian Xbox.com. poena.dare pointed out that not only was this interview ALSO available on the US Xbox.com... but until recently, ANOTHER interview, with Bernie Freidin (a Bungie programmer), was ALSO available. For some reason, that one is now offline, but luckily, p.d saved a copy. We've reformatted it a bit (removing the javascript, the flash, and the worst, but by no means all, the bad html), and made it available in close to its original form, here at HBO. Check it out! (Louis Wu 03:16:56 UTC)
