October 19, 2006 Link to this post UNSCDF interviews Eric Nylund Major Silva stopped by our forum yesterday to announce that his interview with Eric Nylund was now posted at UNSCDF; while Nylund still doesn't give away a lot of secrets about the upcoming Ghosts of Onyx, it's clear that there are still good questions you can ask (the guys who did the IGN and Gamespot interviews recently might take a look). Check it out! (Louis Wu 16:02:43 UTC)
October 17, 2006 Link to this post Tournament Writeup for non-pro gamers DPAD has an interesting writeup of the Upper Bracket Finals in New York last weekend (the first matchup between Final Boss and Carbon) - it's written from the perspective of someone who's not a huge part of the console gaming community, so you might get a better understanding of what's going on if you don't generally follow this stuff. It does a great job of letting you follow along with the action - check it out! (Remember, though, that this was the match that sent Carbon to the Loser's Bracket - where they battled back to face FB AGAIN, and win.) (Louis Wu 14:06:57 UTC)
October 16, 2006 Link to this post Cleaning the Grand Canyon with a Toothbrush We haven't heard from mrsmiley in a while - but he sent a note this morning, pointing us to a thread on the Halo Babies forum that contains a picture created entirely in MS Paint. (If you've ever worked with MS Paint, you know how limited its toolset is.) This picture is astounding, given its origins. Check it out! Update: eep, you have to be logged into the Halo Babies forum to see this. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks, icefire. (Louis Wu 11:16:49 UTC)
October 15, 2006 Link to this post Halo on your PSP No, not like that. Zukan found a 2D arcade game called 'Super Mini Halo', created by Jpdeathblade at DcEmu. The forum thread contains a shot showing off the sprite art, and a short video showing the first level's gameplay. 1.3 mb download, available for 1.5 and 2.71. I can't tell you what it really plays like, since I don't have a PSP... but it's a tiny download, check it out! (Louis Wu 15:58:06 UTC)

October 13, 2006 Link to this post Wall-mountable statue up for grabs Wow, nice. GryphonOsiris found a pretty cool Halo Master Chief statue (well, it's wall-mounted, so I'm not sure what you'd call it) on eBay - check it out! Do it quickly, though - only 4 hours left. (Current bid is just over $150, and reserve isn't met yet.) (Louis Wu 18:13:20 UTC)
October 13, 2006 Link to this post Caving on Cheaters Thanks to XerxdeeJ, who pointed out new content at Tied the Leader - there's a Reader's Poll asking if cheating is dropping at all on XBL (TTL would suggest it is), and a 22 Questions interview with Cayote, of the Cayote Cavegirls. Check it out! (Louis Wu 16:20:14 UTC)
October 12, 2006 Link to this post It's Chris the Hippie Day at H3F Over at Halo3Forum.com, where the quest to solve Chris the Hippie's mystery is reaching new heights, Z has posted an older trailer CtH made but never had hosted. It's definitely all about the editing - gameplay is an afterthought. However... the editing is quite nice. Check it out (and maybe get involved in the puzzle!). (Louis Wu 22:06:11 UTC)
October 11, 2006 Link to this post Halo Assault - Teaser Slimby noticed a Halo Flash vid that will act as the intro to an upcoming game - looks promising! Check it out. (Louis Wu 12:46:11 UTC)
October 6, 2006 Link to this post Halo: Mobile Portal Answer Session Gamasutra has posted a Q&A with Andy Babb, the Senior VP of Marketing for In-Fusio, the Mobile Portal people. There are some clarifications on cost (the portal is technically free, but you have to buy at least one credit in order to access it; you then USE that credit to buy content), and more info about the secret codes that unlock content in The Vault. I don't have a Verizon phone, but if I did, after reading this, I'd be pounding on the Vault with a copy of the Halo Story Page in front of me, trying a whole bunch of keywords to see if they work as codes. Anyway - good read, check it out. (Louis Wu 10:01:00 UTC)
October 5, 2006 Link to this post Inafune - Remaking Halo 3Suns points out a feature at Kotaku - an interview with Keiji Inafune, a longtime Capcom bigwig who's currently working on Lost Planet. "I really wanted to do something as cool as Halo. I'm a big Halo fan, but not well know in Japan. It's very interesting, but very American. But we wanted to do something that had more of a Japanese flavor. That's why we added robots. In America, mech-type robots are not so cool. Just look at the mechs in The Matrix."
Capcom said it couldn't sell it. It was "just a mech game," but Inafune contested that it wasn't just a mech game. It was his take on Halo. Apparently, even though his bosses told him he couldn't do it, he went ahead anyway - "The buildings are separte, so managers aren't able to check everything they do". Heh. Interesting read - check it out! (Louis Wu 19:26:35 UTC)
October 4, 2006 Link to this post Dead Man's Potluck: Round 2 Monday night, a bunch of us got together for something Dweezle calls 'Dead Man's Potluck'. Everyone had to bring a silly gametype. (I was not allowed to use the Team Carnage options - party poopers, all of 'em.) It was a fun time - and Dweezle's written it all up. And Eisen Feuer filmed the whole shebang - that's a lot of video! Check it out. (Louis Wu 21:28:26 UTC)
October 3, 2006 Link to this post Losing Marbles KP sat down with GameJunkieJim, a Bungie.net moderator and the editor of the 'Bungie Bathroom Reader', to find out what makes him tick - and what tricks he's got to bag the classy ladies. Check it out on Bungie.net. (hnc was first on our forum to notice.) (Louis Wu 12:59:14 UTC)
September 28, 2006 Link to this post Wikipedia never sleeps Heh - rapture is amused by how quickly Wikipedia info is compiled - check it out, there's already a pretty comprehensive page on Halo Wars. (rapture also wanted to point out that the new H2 for Windows screens are browsable at halo2pc.org - though if you happen to be browsing in Safari, the page is invisible.) (Louis Wu 15:08:16 UTC)
September 27, 2006 Link to this post Trevor Chesler's Mjolnir Armor Trevor Chesler has embarked on the creation process for a suit of Mjolnir armor - he's shooting for a very high quality finished product. He's just starting out right now, but you can see his gameplan, and the first few photos, on this page. As we get more from him, we'll add them (and let you know). Check it out! (Louis Wu 13:25:35 UTC)
September 12, 2006 Link to this post Colors Crossfade, from QsKGlobal.Com, put together 'Colors', a vid that tells the story of a lone soldier who must leave his family and friends to go to war. September 6, 2006 Link to this post The bottom of the SECOND Halo map. Before you leave High Impact Halo, swing by this news post - it describes a trick that's been waiting to be completed for years... that the HIH community finally pinned down. Uzny was the guy who finally made it happen - but it was a community effort, through and through. The video's pretty fun - doesn't show the 'getting the banshee to the second map' step, but the writeups contain links. I was suprised by how small the bottom actually is! Check it out. (Louis Wu 13:43:06 UTC)
September 3, 2006 Link to this post Frontline Matt6908 sent us a music video for Pillar's 'Frontline' - the MPRRS liked it, for the most part. Some fantastic action shots, and cinematic eye candy. Check it out! Available in both WMP9 format (37.1 mb) and QuickTime format (41.9 mb). (Louis Wu 11:02:39 UTC)
