Halo loses Poll position
Poll updates: Halo still trails several games, including even Doom, in VoodooExtreme's 'what game would make the best movie' poll... and it continues to be beaten by WWF and Pro Skater 2x in UGO's drool factor poll. Heh... you guys have forgotten how to smash polls. :) (Louis Wu 14:32:59 UTC)

MSXbox puts up Gamestock preview
MSXbox has put up their own preview of the Gamestock event which happens tomorrow. The Halo mention:

Bungie Software's Halo is quite possibly one of the most anticipated titles of the past few years. Halo is a third-person sci-fi action game in which all the action will take place in the sky, on land, under the earth, indoors, or outdoors. New screenshots haven't been released for this game for several months now, and this new round should blow the others away.

Heh - they forgot underwater. :) We're looking forward to new media, as well, though... (Louis Wu 03:08:15 UTC)

Gotta love those suits...
Heh - Jack, on our forum, points us to an image that seems to sum up the feelings of a lot of Halo fans about the upcoming MMORPG, Planetside. It's all in fun... (Louis Wu 02:07:49 UTC)

CGW wonders, when's dessert?
Kudos (hehe... he said kudos) to Paul Collette, who spotted a Halo mention in the March 2001 issue of Computer Gaming World:

Halo: "Graphics" is the focus of the Halo team. Most of the developer updates from Bungie have been discussing graphical tweaks and accomplishments, which is a bit worrisome. We still have faith, due to their past history, that they have their design chops. But when will we read more about gameplay and less about the cinematronics or the kinematics?"

Heh... the question couldn't have come at a better time. Will they see something they like on Monday? (Louis Wu 02:03:43 UTC)

Ace in the hole
PunkRocker finds ANOTHER Halo news item, this time at Daily Radar. It's a preview of Gamestock, Microsoft's press-only event coming up in a bit over a week, and they refer to Halo as "the ace in Microsoft's hand". Heh... 5 card stud, anyone? (Louis Wu 14:17:34 UTC)

Halo using Lightwave
Kudos to Appleicious (heh - he said 'kudos'), who points out (on the R.net forum) that NewTek lists Halo among game titles that use their Lightwave product. The press release that contains this information was put out on November 28... we're a little slow sometimes. (Louis Wu 02:34:36 UTC)

Gamestop accepting Xbox preorders
Heh... kudos to Mhaddy, who noticed that Gamestop is already taking preorders for the Xbox. He snagged the info off of MSXbox.com... dunno who's gonna sign up this early (especially at a $500 price point), but hey - stranger things have happened! (Louis Wu 16:22:27 UTC)

Microsoft Hacked - is Bungie safe?
Heh... thanks to Alan Stott, who passed along this article from The Register, discussing a major security breach at Microsoft. Although the Register's spin on this story is more dramatic than, say, CNN's, the potential damage is great. The story focused on WinMe code, but we're wondering about the Gaming Division... personally, we'd keep an eye on Blizzard. (The related story listed at the Register is even funnier.) Bungie and the Brain
Heh... Simon Marek dropped us a line:

Just writing after seeing your re-post of Matt's listing of the newBungie staff members. Couldn't help but notice the presence of JohnHoward. Now I don't know how many others have noticed, but the PrimeMinister of Australia is also called John Howard. Another step inBungie's plot to take over the world? As Hamish would say: "Coincidenceor...?"

Doesn't seem like THAT uncommon a name, but you never know... (Louis Wu 13:42:28 UTC)

Xbox logo public, finally
Kudos to Picky, who found this page at Computer and Video Games... THIS is what the new Xbox logo looks like. Hmm... I still like the old one. ;) Heh... and check the official Xbox page - now 'The Word' section contains not only 'News' and 'Noise' but also 'Rumors'! (Louis Wu 00:02:36 UTC)

Story page fans pin down Nathan quotes
Heh... in case anyone didn't realize how important the Marathon's Story page is to the fans of Halo... several Story page fans noticed some quotes from Nathan Bitner (first made on our forum, here and here, over a week ago, and posted to the Story page yesterday), and the source of both sets of quotes are now known. Khalil Gibran and Smashing Pumpkins... let no one say Nathan's not well-rounded. Thanks to the Story page fans for unearthing these! (Louis Wu 12:55:40 UTC)

Flash your stuff on Halo, the Game
Heh... tired of waiting for Halo? Play Halo, the Game! Battleground: Halo has put together a Flash 4.0 game in which you can kill your fill of Covenant and vie for the top spot in their Hall of Fame. (Be aware, though, that a couple of people have already put up four-figure scores... in a game where you get two points for killing a Covenant soldier.) Are you good enough? Bungie Jumping does Hamish
Mojo reminded us that we'd forgotten his comic site, Bungie Jumping, in our links round-up yesterday. Heh... his latest comic pokes fun at a pillar of the fan community... stop by and take a look! (Bungie Jumping has been added to the Funnies section of our Links page, as well. Sorry, Mojo.) (Louis Wu 02:28:31 UTC)

Apologies to GIA
Apologies to Gaming Intelligence Agency. Earlier, we put up a news post chiding them for their total lack of mention of Halo in their E3 awards. Seems we didn't do our homework... they're devoted to console games only. And although there are rumors of Halo on the PS2 (and now, it seems, on Dreamcast... heh), they are not currently slated for any consoles. Our bad. (Louis Wu 21:37:51 UTC)

more info on e3 movie
Pfhor posted a nice followup to Ferrex's E3 movie transcript on our forum... some juicy tidbits in there. A snippet:

He drove around, then flipped the jeep over a couple of times, and as he did I watched the marine and he was jerking forward and back, then he did a special code while saying, "No one look", to get the jeep back on its wheels, heh.

The whole post is worth a read... (Louis Wu 05:07:00 UTC)

Joe says Marathon's Story worries too much
Hamish Sinclair of the Marathon's Story page spots a discrepancy in the diameter of the Halo in Bungie's E3 press and movie info. 10,000 miles or kilometers? Both are given. As Joe Staten would say:

"we're not quite sure about the diameter as of yet for obvious reasons for some of you people who actually pay attention to diameters and such in our games.

Heh only joking Joe! ;) (Crux Fidelis 16:56:13 UTC)
