The Samurai Spirit
Hehe - took almost a week - but Bungie finally posted the post-mortem of last week's Halo Humpday Challenge, during which they were murdalized by the GunShin clan, a group of Japan's finest Halo warriors. Man... the idea of a two man team, one with plasma pistol, the other with a battle rifle, working together faster than a single person can switch from one to the other... wow. Go read. Thanks to JHG, who noticed it before I did. (Louis Wu 22:06:01 UTC)

Shot replication
Hehe - sort of fun... STB has tried his hand at replicating a few Halo 2 screenshots, using Halo CE. Might have gone better with Elites in the pictures... but they're still nice! (Louis Wu 13:02:08 UTC)

Giddeyap!
Hehe - I've seen people playing with the gas tanks on Metropolis before... but I've never seen anyone try to RIDE them. Hats off to Motherstooth! (Louis Wu 14:30:57 UTC)

Happiness is a warm gun
Hehe - less than a day after I rant about how many montage films (well, films in general, I guess) are out there, II TRU7H II sends us a link. He's hosting, and it's not a bad piece - so here you go. '15FPS' - WMP9 format, 22.6 mb. Snipes and sticks, with some great oddball melee runs. (Louis Wu 14:52:29 UTC)

LiL Poison - again
Hehe - remember LiL Poison, the youngest pro gamer ever? Well, he's got his own website now. He'll be playing in the MLG Houston event this weekend. Thanks to Victor of Xtournaments ("Dad") for the heads-up. (Louis Wu 15:32:18 UTC)

Brian Jarrard Interview
Singapore news site The Electric New Paper has an interview with Brian Jarrard, Bungie's Community Guy. Will the Master Chief stop the Covenant? Will there be a Halo 3? A Halo movie? Check it out, and see for yourself! (Heh, not that there are many answers, mind you, but there might be a few hints... ;) Thanks to danbrennan.org for the heads-up. Update: Drat, mnemesis got to this before me... I wanted to also point out a discrepancy in one of their 'did you know?' facts. There's a claim that Halo 2 has sold 15 million copies to date; given that as of January 20 (just over a month ago), they'd sold 6.4 million copies worldwide, this number seems a tad unlikely. I suppose as a TOTAL of all Halo-franchise titles it makes sense (they were at 12 million last month)... [-lwu] (mnemesis 17:05:39 UTC)

It's Miller Time.
Hehe - today's One One Se7en was originally scheduled to be a Wednesday strip, so that it could properly whinge about the Legendary Walkthrough chapter that had been released the day before. We did some shuffling recently, and I guess I screwed up. Pretend it's Wednesday. In fact, pretend it's Wednesday a few weeks ago, since the MC's still in Cairo Station. Gah. Stubbs as a Role Model
There's an interesting article over at The Hollywood Reporter today, discussing the 'Hollywood model' of development, as applied to video games - with Wideload Studios, and their Halo engine-based Stubbs The Zombie title, as the primary example. If you're interested in how Wideload is getting this game built on a much smaller budget than they'd have as a traditional studio, give this a read! Thanks, EnemaNurse. (Louis Wu 14:18:01 UTC)

Love, Halo Style
Hehe - Pak wished SOMEONE a Happy Valentines Day in Halo fashion. (Not sure how I'd feel if I got a card like that - but from the outside, it's pretty funny.) (Louis Wu 10:47:25 UTC)

I'm Ready For My Close Up, Mr Aronsson.
Hehe. Stuntmutt took his inspiration for today's One One Se7en from today's Halo Babies - how often do you get a chance like this? Made me laugh, anyway. (Louis Wu 11:09:47 UTC)

Swimming for HBO
Hehe - a little tribute film from Mother's Tooth... cute. Originally WMP9, 3.8 mb... now also QuickTime also, 3.6 mb. Modding can be fun. (Louis Wu 04:26:01 UTC)

Pick your friends by their activities
Hehe - Scot Goodhart points out that if you belong to Friendster, you can link their Bungie stats in their Friendster profiles; just copy your XML link into the RSS feed in your profile. When folks view your profile, they'll see your recent games! Geeky to the max - but hey, isn't that what it's all about, anyway? (Louis Wu 23:02:04 UTC)

Another side to the game violence issue
There's another interesting article linked from Rampancy.net over on TheHollywoodReporter.com - it's an interview with Henry Jenkins, a professor at MIT and a gamer. It brings up some pretty salient points about video game violence, and why we as a society seem to target it as a cure for our ills... and why this might not be very effective. A solid, thoughtful read, one that anyone affected by the hype over game violence should look at. (Louis Wu 17:55:57 UTC)

A Crack Team of Monkeys
Hehe - looks like the Bungie Boyz managed to find a team they could beat. This week's Halo Humpday Challenge was against Tips & Tricks Magazine... and the final score was 3-0, Bungie. (The first two games were relatively close, however.) You gotta wonder a little about the fable... go read. (Louis Wu 22:44:26 UTC)

Frankie - Put On The Glove!
Hehe - over on the Marty Army forum at Bungie.net, Marty posted the following suggestion (you have to be a member of the Marty Army to be able to see this):

The Marty Army members should all demand to see the video of Frankie attempting to "sing" Billie Jean. Talk about price.

FugitiveSoldier has put up a poll on the Bungie.net forums asking whether people agree - at the moment, it's 7-0 in favor. (Heck, Marty - if you can shoot me a copy of the vid, I'll happily host it here, in case you're being blocked by the Online Team...) Thanks to FugitiveSoldier for pointing out the b.net post on our own forum. (Louis Wu 18:22:00 UTC)

Hehe - there's no Weekly What's Update yet (looks like that's coming Sunday)... but you can see the Anime Mister Chief that's gonna go with it. Thanks, Frankie! (Louis Wu 04:19:05 UTC)

Pete Parsons - Game Designer of the Year?
Wired Magazine has announced their nominees for the Sixth Annual Wired Rave Awards - Pete Parsons has picked up a nomination for 'Game Designer' for his work on Halo 2 (hehe). The Wired site itself hasn't been updated yet; it's still showing last year's awards. Thanks, ICDedPpl. (Louis Wu 16:50:34 UTC)

ILB puts ARG in the Spotlight
Hehe - cool. Even though Joe Staten recently stated that the 'I Love Bees' game was NOT canon, with respect to the Halo storyline, it was still an awful lot of fun for an awful lot of people. Looks like someone is using it as the capstone to a new book on Alternate Reality Gaming, due out really soon in electronic form, and next month in a dead tree version. ICDedPpl found this over at Slashdot. (Louis Wu 20:24:06 UTC)

Rubbing Salt in the Wound...
Hehe - TeamXbox put up their own analysis of the Bungie/TXB faceoff that was this week's Halo Humpday Challenge... it's not that they're crowing, or anything, it's just that they're... well, crowing. PIctures, stats, even movies. Yeah, they're milking it... but it's fun. Go read. Thanks, 3Suns. (Louis Wu 16:27:04 UTC)

At least he doesn't have to worry about sun glare...
Hehe - Dolbex had a birthday today... and one of his presents was a pretty slick radio-controlled car. What was the first thing he did with it? Guess. (Louis Wu 19:09:15 UTC)

Cinematic dialogue at Gamefaqs
It's not the same as a full level transcript - but it's a decent start, and our own effort seems to have stalled. Over on Gamefaqs is a file with all the dialogue from the cutscenes in Halo 2, created by Rachel Maille. There are a few missing pieces, and it's unclear what difficulty level this compilation was collected on - but it's certainly a good place to begin. Thanks, Stefin Hehman. Update: Apparently, Gamefaqs doesn't allow direct linking to files on their servers at all. You can find the script guide linked from this page. (It's listed as 'Game Script'.) Thanks, Drew.
