We're famous!
Heh - The Banners section gets an update... with an HBO banner, no less! Thanks to Mr Bill Jr V for the submission. (Louis Wu 13:43:37 UTC)

Who said she's just a Hologram?
Heh - for those who think there aren't any tricks left to find in Halo, think again. Lennox noticed an interesting interaction yesterday... and after the forum settled down and stopped calling him a liar, Warbow actually FILMED a variant. It was intriguing enough to get the attention of a Halo Dev team member... which means it's pretty likely that this behavior wasn't seen in the Bungie offices before now. Nice going, guys! Enough soundtracks to go around
Heh - thanks to Psyrixx, who pointed out (in an oh-so-polite way) that the Bungie Store has restocked its supply of Halo Soundtracks - if you couldn't get your hands on one before now, go grab it! (Heck, if you already bought one, go buy another!) (Louis Wu 20:38:17 UTC)

The New Phone Books Are Here!
Heh - a few days ago, Halo 2 was just a rumor in the minds of the hopeful. Two days ago, the news of its existence (as stated by J. Allard) was all over the internet. Today... according to the Magic Box, it'll be out in Japan by the end of this year. Don't you love how fast things change? (For what it's worth, we'd be willing to bet reasonable amounts of money that this is horse-pucky.) Thanks to Jon Chang for making us smile. (Louis Wu 19:53:22 UTC)

Hop in, Sarge!
Hehe - it's the wrong color, but BOLL's got the right idea... how many of you miss that rocket launcher? (Louis Wu 22:45:47 UTC)

Squish!
Heh - Halo shows up in today's Real LIfe Comics - go ahead, tell me this has never happened to you. Thanks to Uriel for the heads-up. (Louis Wu 12:16:44 UTC)

E3 Photos from the Canucks
Heh - Daniel (Finn), of Team 7hr33, has put up a page of images commemorating his (and Rich's (Shovelface's)) visit to E3 - dinner with Bungie, Fanfest shenanigans, and a very freaky accident involving a man in a palm tree. Check it out! (Visit the Team 7hr33 website, and then hit the 'Bungie Trip 2002' link about halfway down the Index.) A nicer pair of guys you won't find. (Though put guns in their hands, and it's a whole different story...) (Louis Wu 08:08:02 UTC)

GameCube now $150
For anyone keeping tabs on the Console War, Nintendo finally announced its price drop (effective today) for the GameCube - it's down to $150. Hehe - $550 will now buy you one of each of the three major consoles! (What does this have to do with Halo? Nothing. Why is it being posted here? Because experience tells me that if I DON'T post it, we'll get a dozen emails from people telling us to post it. Dollars to donuts, we'll STILL get that mail...) (Louis Wu 09:09:18 UTC)

Van der Rohe was right...
Heh - what do you do when you're playing Counter-Strike and you need a quick virtual break? Well, you sit down and play Halo, of course! BOLL has made it possible - details can be found in our Miscellaneous Art section. Very, very fun (even if you don't play C-S!). (Louis Wu 01:07:36 UTC)

MagGamer is skeptical
Heh - funny poll at MacGamer.com: "Which signs of the Apocalypse would happen before Halo comes to Macintosh?" I sorta like the last option... seems that nearly 60% of the other voters do, too. (Weird polling stuff going on.) (Louis Wu 12:25:31 UTC)

Spidey vs MC?
Heh - Gamespy has put up a new Grudge Match on their front page; Spider-Man vs. Master Chief - who wins? Currently, Spidey's whuppin' the TAR out of MC... go see if you can change that. (Thanks to Darth Paul for the heads-up.) (Louis Wu 01:44:12 UTC)

Store... coming sooner
Heh - da5id noticed that the Bungie Store front page is up again (but requires a login to get past that screen) - shouldn't be too long before this puppy is open! (Louis Wu 16:24:05 UTC)

Shirt insanity continues
Quick update on the eBayed Halo shirt mentioned yesterday: It's up to $41 right now, and we're still 2 and a half days from the end of the auction! PCDestroyer says, "Bungie must not want to make money hand over fist..." Heh. (These shirts will likely be half that price, or less, when the Bungie Store finally reopens.) (Louis Wu 14:35:33 UTC)

Elite Speech - older than we know
Heh - just got word from Joe Broni that the beans on elite 'speech' were spilled by Chris Butcher during the talk he gave at the Game Developers Conference last month - a week before Jester noticed the backwards speech. Hard to know WHO to give credit to! :) (Louis Wu 16:18:24 UTC)

Three guns in Halo - Confirmed!
Heh - it's not every day that fans find out something that BUNGIE didn't know... three weeks ago, Matt Soell created the Rumor Control Database in an effort to debunk the most common (false) rumors concerning Halo that have been circulating the internet. One of the most persistent has been "If you beat the game on Normal, then on Legendary, all in 3 hours, you'll get a third weapon." Matt's response?

"Nope. You'll always have a two-weapon limit."

Heh - today, Reckless Angel posted a note to our forum stating that this was not true... and 12 hours and 8 minutes later, Frogblast posted video proof of his claim. Turns out it's a timing issue, and getting that third weapon depends on beating a timed checkpoint... but apparently, it's not so tough to beat. The fans of this game continue to amaze me. (In all fairness, this glitch will turn up on no other level, because there is nowhere else that you start with no weapons. However, you CAN play an entire level of Halo - 10% of the game - with three weapons instead of two... and that's just plain cool.) (Louis Wu 21:24:43 UTC)

So, are they making it or not?
Heh - Peter Marks, Bungie Troublemaker Extraordinaire, points out an article at MacGamer which might make some long-time visitors chuckle. Apparently, though... not Matt Soell. Ah, well... can't please everyone. (Louis Wu 01:23:23 UTC)

Mmm... words
Heh - gotta love this:

Those who still think we're lying about PC/Mac Halo should get out your condiments/seasonings of choice, buy some nice china and silverware, and do whatever else you do when you're getting ready to eat your words.

Don't believe Matt, though - he just works for Bungie. Everybody knows that Bungie has no real say over whether PC/Mac Halo ever gets published - that's a Microsoft-only decision. (For the sarcasm-impaired, that last line was rather full of it - in more senses than one.) (Louis Wu 03:21:46 UTC)

What programmers write when nobody looks
Heh - the digging has started. Someone hacked around with their Halo disc, and found some interesting strings buried deep in the code - check 'em out. Evidence that cheats ONCE existed, at least... and some pretty funny (if colorful) error language. Definitely PG-rated for strong language. Thanks to Ray Rose for the heads-up on our forum! French Halo review at Halo-game.com
Halo-Game.com, a French Halo site, has put up a Halo review. I can't really add it to the Reviews database, since it has no score I can assign... but they seemed to mostly like it. :) (My french isn't good enough to figure out more than that, and without an overall rating, I'm just guessing.) If you read French, though, check it out! (Don't bother with Babelfish or Google's translators, though... they'll just make you laugh.) Update: Due to popular demand (hehe), they've added a summary section - and Halo pulled out a 19/20. Not too shabby! We've now added this review to the Halo Reviews database. (It's review 77...) A very funky pic has been added to our Miscellaneous Art section - in our ftp space, covenant dropped off a line art image showing a pair of Covenant elites... um, BUILDING a Shade. Hehe... this one's cool. (Louis Wu 20:42:35 UTC)

Halo Comic at Truth and Recon
Heh - over at Bungie's Tru7h and Reconciliation site, there's word of a Seventh Column club-created Halo comic - the Slacker Pimps have a Halo illustrator in Slacker Tang. (You can see more of his Halo work here.) Thanks to craZy for the heads-up! (Louis Wu 02:01:16 UTC)

Soffish at 7th Column thanks to Frogblast!
Heh - forum regular Frogblast gets a mention at Bungie.net - the Soffish theme for 7th Column fansites has gone live ahead of schedule, because of him. (Remember - if the link leads you to a message about a database wipe, first hit reload to see the REAL message, then send Yeroen a note to fix this. :) ) Thanks to brandontyler for the heads-up! (Louis Wu 19:59:14 UTC)
