Halo draining manpower from the PC camp
QJ.net has some statistics from the online PC gaming companion XFire that would suggest that something happened in late September/early October that caused a lot of PC gamers to stop playing PC games... XFire's senior director of marketing suggests it might be Halo 3. Heh. (Louis Wu 18:18:28 UTC)

Blowing off steam, the TTL Way
If it's Tuesday, we must be in Tied the Leader land. XerxdeeJ stopped by early this morning to point out a couple of new articles - one was inspired by c0ld vengeance's Puzzleball creations, and gives you access to three new puzzles (at varying difficulties), and the other is a rant that takes aim at the Writers Guild, ill-informed bloggers, and pretty much anyone who messes with their beloved Halo. Haloween, revisited
One of those days - sorry for the lack of news. Yesterday a couple of people stopped by our forum with pictures of Halo-related Halloween costumes - Brandon found some pics online at a Predator forum - check the second picture down for a foam master chief and a purple Cortana. And HookMeUpImLocal posted a whole passel of pics of himself in a Mister Chief costume, meeting all sorts of other celebrities. I bet Frankie'd love one of those! (Louis Wu 18:25:50 UTC)

Go right, mess him up.
Heh - there's an interesting piece at the Weekly Dig; it originally appeared in Willamette Week, an alternative weekly newspaper in Portland, Oregon (my old stomping grounds). It's a writeup of a grudge match between Michael Evans (who worked on Halo and Halo 2, but not Halo 3) and a friend of his (who plays Halo, apparently, about as well as I do). That didn't take long...
So, yesterday, we let you know that High Speed Halo had kicked off a 'Million Point Challenge' - they were looking for campaign runs that added up to at least a million points. One of the first runs mentioned in the thread had over a quarter-million points in it, for The Ark; when it was suggested that a million points might be low, Cody Miller replied that only a few levels had the potential for REALLY high scores. Heh. At 8 am this morning (just over 17 hours from the point at which the challenge was announced), goatrope let us know that the challenge had been met - with only 6 levels. An egglet, I guess.
Heh - darthbob found a small egg on The Storm; one of the buildings is labeled 'Section K-434'. This is almost certainly a nod to Bungie's Kirkland offices, at 434 Kirkland Way. Oh, the little things... Update: Schedonnardus let us know that he'd actually mentioned this egg back on September 27 - my bad, I was still behind on the forum at that stage. Sorry, Sched! The road to Voi
Heh - DigitalPh33r (the guy behind the 'Master Chief sucks at Halo' series) posted a vid called 'Road to Voi', looking at the Master Chief and the Arbiter's journey to save Earth. Super Halo Brothers
Heh - this is fun. Xbox 360 Fanboy found a video of Sandtrap, modified for platforming, with sound effects from Super Mario Brothers. If you want to see a larger version of it, they grabbed it from GameVideos - and you can actually download the modified level from the FileShare of finjitzu, the guy who built it.

Heh - there's a story in the Rider News about the popularity of Halo 3; a Gamestop employee describes a customer trading in a Wii to buy Halo and a 360.
"He spent $430 just to play one game," Taylor said. "I guarantee that didn't happen in any other store except ours."
