One Man's Meat...
Heh. Stuntmutt takes a look at the recent Playlist changes in today's One One Se7en. (I think I met that guy last week...) (Louis Wu 16:20:48 UTC)

Open Source? Open your HEAD.
Heh. Today's UserFriendly comic tweaks Microsoft's CEO in relation to the upcoming Halo movie. Thanks, SteelGaribaldi. (Louis Wu 18:58:39 UTC)

Jiggly Spartans and Action Sacks
Heh. In the midst of a thread that wondered whether Team Ninja had gotten access to either the Halo movie script or a script for Halo 3, Frankie managed to both shut down speculation about what a particular passage meant (the material Team Ninja worked with to put Nicole together was created specifically for them by Bungie) and announce a new Halo Humpday Challenge writeup on Bungie.net (Bungie won, for the first time in a long time). Not too shabby! Read the thread, read the writeup. Feed the people. Stay alive. (Louis Wu 03:55:34 UTC)

Gamespy Awards Voting
Gamespy's Gamer's Choice voting for Xbox Game of the Year 2005 is up... and the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack is in the running. Heh. Go vote! Thanks, Halo Planet. (Louis Wu 16:45:55 UTC)

VE's Best Fansite of 2005
Hehe - Voodoo Extreme is running a 'Best Fansite of 2005' poll... and we've been nominated. I don't think we stand a snowball's chance in Burial Mounds, given the competition and VE's core audience... but it's pretty cool nonetheless. Go vote! Master3xBOx was first with the news. When there's no news, make it up.
Wow. GamesRadar has one of the more bizarre 'news' articles I've seen in a while; they're suggesting that Halo 3 (a title that hasn't even been announced yet) might come on 4 double-layer DVDs. Where does this come from? Well, apparently someone is claiming that "one particular 'highly anticipated' Xbox 360 title is currently taking up four 9GB DVDs"... and, in GameRadar's words, "nothing is more anticipated than the next Halo." (Who is this someone? Heh. Your guess is as good as mine.) Wow... what a stretch. Thanks to Cybrfrk and ZiplocBodybag for pointing this silliness out. (Louis Wu 17:48:26 UTC)

Yaargh.
Heh. Both EvilAvatar (thanks, Target4Hire) and Gamespot (thanks, T3muJin) have picked up on the wording of Bungie's latest job listing. Could Bungie REALLY be making Pimps At Sea, using the Halo 2 engine? Your guess is as good as mine. (Louis Wu 15:07:04 UTC)

It's still pretty cold, though.
Hehe - Jim Shorts pointed out some photos showing a bunch of guys (presumably waiting to buy 360s last week) playing Halo 2 on the side of a Best Buy. Now THAT might make the time go faster! (Louis Wu 18:16:39 UTC)

Impetigo? Ew.
Bungie's Weekly Update was posted last night - there's quite a bit of info about some playlist changes coming in the not-too-distant future, there are answers to basic questions about interoperability between the Xbox and the Xbo360 for games like Halo, and info about how Halo and the new higher-res modes available on the 360 will work, and some weird stuff about Marty in Korea. (Pete's not as old as Frankie makes him out to be, either.) Go read! Update: Hehe - looks like I missed an entertaining thread about this last night. To TheDaringDuke - don't worry, Frankie and Shishka are jerks. Especially Frankie. (Louis Wu 11:33:12 UTC)

New CE Maps from the Yayap Boyz
ofthehi77 stopped by our forum to point out 6 new downloadable maps for HaloCE. Swing by yayap.com to grab 'em! (They're BEAUTIFUL.) Update: DocOc mentioned that there's a problem with Dead End - you might want to hold off grabbing that one for a bit. (Louis Wu 19:42:31 UTC)

A Halo Birthday
Hehe - last weekend, I attended the birthday party of Miguel Chavez's oldest son with my kids (Rafi turned 10). The party had a Halo theme... but I didn't put up any pics or a writeup because... well, because Rafi is 10. The cake, however, was designed by Gruntsbane, over at Halo Babies, and Mig sent THEM a bunch of pics... so go check it out! (Louis Wu 22:09:43 UTC)

Be The Zombie.
Hehe - there are three new commercial spots, running Sunday and Monday on the Sci-Fi Channel, for Stubbs the Zombie... but if you don't want to wait, they've been put up in the Stubbs the Zombie website Gallery. Funny stuff! (Louis Wu 18:18:17 UTC)

Night to Unite 2005 - MC Statue (and more)
You might remember the Night to Unite auction on eBay last year, to benefit a number of children's groups - they're doing it again, and one of the items this year is a 6-foot Master Chief statue. Current bid is $630, but I'm guessing it'll get quite a bit higher before the auction ends on the 13th. Check out all the stuff- it's for good causes! Thanks, Archaos. Update: hehe - Clay points out that the number of items for sale in the entire Night to Unite auction is a Halo-relevant 117. Queue Twilight Zone music... (Louis Wu 06:32:43 UTC)

Pick Up Artist.
Hehe - I have SO acted out today's One One Se7en in real games... man. Sometimes, a comic just hits home. (Though Stuntmutt assures me that he had someone completely different in mind when he wrote this particular strip...) (Louis Wu 15:49:31 UTC)

V.A.L.I.S. Preview
ofthehi77 stopped by to point out a video preview (6.5 mb, QuickTime format) of V.A.L.I.S., an upcoming HaloCE map that he and his brother DocOctavius have been working on - looks pretty fancy! Go watch. (Louis Wu 12:49:04 UTC)

Pictures, Pictures, everywhere
I guess it's Art Week - four new pics from Bryn 'ofthehi77' Casey, first posted over at his brother's site, yayap.com. My favorite is this pic of a pair of Hunters - but I also really like this loose MC. A full-body shot of Cortana and Scarlett Johansson as Linda round out the batch. Go look! Ash Wednesday.
Vern Shields continues his overloading hijinx - he's been so dedicated, he's inspired Stuntmutt for today's One One Se7en. (Hehe - is that a good thing, or a bad thing?) (Louis Wu 15:25:21 UTC)

If you must lose, blame your teammate
Heh - there's a followup to the recent Houston Chronicle story on Zyos in today's paper; this one is a short piece detailing Zyos' loss in last weekend's WCG 2005 US Finals. (He says that if next year's competition is team-based, he won't even enter; he's decided he's better by himself.) Thanks, Tom Pittman. (Louis Wu 14:59:00 UTC)

In The Ruins
Whoa, very cool. Bryn "ofthehi77" Casey has put together another gorgeous piece - MC, another MC, and Cortana, in some Forerunner ruins. Check out 'In The Ruins'! (This was originally posted at yayap.com - we've added it to Bryn's page here with permission.) (Louis Wu 20:56:54 UTC)

Can't Touch This.
A movie called 'Untouchable', by TheHaloGod, cleared our Movie Peer Review Rating System this morning, with a pretty unprecedented score. It's a montage vid - but the timing is simply astounding, and the music choice is great. As luck would have it, I'm not anywhere near home today (nor will I be for the next couple of days), so the tools available for multiple formats are not what they should be. We're offering the original WMP9 version, 44.7 mb - quality is fantastic. We're also offering a somewhat larger, somewhat lower-quality QuickTime version (49.2 mb) - it's still quite watchable, but not as beautiful as the WMP9. I'd point out the spots that made us all go 'OMG' - but they're more fun to experience on your own. Even if you're pretty jaded with respect to montages, this is worth watching. TMG talks trade
Over at MLGPro.com, there's an interview with TMG, formerly Str8 Rippin, conducted after MLG Las Vegas. They talk about how good it feels to be on top (heh), and focus a lot on the rivalry with iGameSpot, the team they beat to win MLG Las Vegas. Nice read! Thanks, Arachneya and 3Suns. The family that slays together, stays home
Hehe - Andras Ostrom found a tidbit at IMDB.com, blaming Halo 2 (and Netflix, but this is a Halo site, so we'll focus on that) for the downturn in moviegoing this summer. Darn that Bungie - keeping people at home! Update: Eep - Gregory Prill found the same info (but more fleshed out) in the Chicago Sun-Times. In fact - that's where imdb got it. (Louis Wu 13:42:36 UTC)

Halo: Pramape 343GS
Hehe - go check out this parody of the Halo level 343 Guilty Spark, done by ClassParody, over at Newgrounds. (Flash, 1.8 mb) Pretty funny stuff! Thanks, Samir Patel. (Louis Wu 01:58:53 UTC)
