An incomplete PAX roundup
Wow. It's Sunday, I've slept a total of 8 hours in the past 72, and we're so far behind on news I'm not sure we can catch up - especially since there's been so much juicy stuff here at PAX. There is definitely non-Halo 4 news in the queue - but given our limited resources (mostly time, I guess), I'm going to have to hold off on that stuff for now. (We'll get back to it, and I apologize in advance for the delay.) Here's stuff you shouldn't miss:
- The Xbox Press site has 35 seconds of B-Roll, showing off CTF gameplay on Exile. This is the only direct-feed footage of the map that has been released up until now, and as such is absolutely worth looking at.
- Nak3d Eli posted some commentary of a CTF match on Exile.
- Bravo released two vids: Exile CTF general commentary and a video focused on showing off some specifics (light rifle, thruster pack, sniper).
- A short video recorded at the show shows (badly) how the new Binary Rifle works - it looks to be a one-shot kill no matter WHERE you hit your target (thanks, Rand0m TAG).
- Grifball was formally announced at the Halo 4 panel yesterday afternoon, and GrifballHub's Kal let us know that they've got a full writeup (and a video) all about this well-loved mode.
- Gamespot released "A Hero Awakens", a behind-the-scenes look at the motion capture aspect of Halo 4's animation.

Not all UNSCs are the same.
Sometimes, I see something on the internet that makes me wonder about where we're going. Last week, the BBC (the BBC!!) ran a story on the UN Security Council and its response to events in Syria... and whoever was responsible for visuals for the piece accidentally included the United Nations Space Command logo (yes, the one from the Halo universe) to represent the Security Council. Ouch! Best video I've seen was in that Kotaku story linked above, but the incident was brought up on our forum by mneo. Wow. Just... wow. (Louis Wu 15:07:51 UTC)

Halo 1 Single Segment Speedrun - under 80 mins
Wow. SlYnki stopped in with a link to a new vid - this one sets the record for fastest single-segment Halo (first game) runthrough on Easy. Grab your ankles...
Wow. Team Carbon didn't feel like they had enough of a challenge in standard matchmaking... so when this game started up, they continually committed suicide until they were down 57 kills (17 to -40; the other team got credit for a bunch of their deaths, by getting a shot or two in before they died). Sword Base Insanity

Get a Fridge, a 360, and HCEA - Free
Wow. So Monster is giving away a bunch of stuff to celebrate the release of Halo Anniversary - the grand prize includes a custom HCEA-themed fridge stocked with Monster, a 360, a few copies of the game, and a few years of LIVE. To enter, you have to Like their Facebook page. (You can't even really see the contest page very well until you do that.) For folks who aren't interested in Liking Monster, full rules (and prizes) are listed on their website. (You can only enter if you're a US citizen. Sorry.) Halo 2 Delta Halo Ghost Launch
Wow... the dedication of some Halo tricksters blows me away. Grumpy sent along a link to a YouTube video (and a corresponding jumprs.org thread) showing him using a Pelican on Delta Halo to make it (in a ghost) all the way to the middle tower. Hang 'em High - Playable in Minecraft

Someone should get that man a website
Hitmonchan continues to scour the internet for interesting Halo content - there's no way I'm gonna complain, because he's making my job quite a bit easier. Here's a roundup of the goodies he found last night:
- Someone whipped up a Noble Team logo in Minecraft. Nicely done!
- If you didn't make it to MLG Dallas, there's a nice collection of photos on Flickr. (If you're just interested in the ones tagged Reach, those are here.)
- Halo Waypoint denizen Noble29 played Ashes, from Halo: Reach's official soundtrack, on piano. Wow. Really great.
- Two new vids from the MachinimaRespawn crew - The Dead Pixel saves the day for a frustrated Firefighter, and Mr Sark helps out when Campaign partners are hard to find. Funny stuff.
- IGN's posted their Top 10 Kills for 04.07.11 - Angry Hogs made me laugh. So did Windshield Wiper. (Hitmonchan doesn't like IGN's video player, so he linked to the DailyMotion mirror.)
- Away From Keyboard has written up an article explaining why Halo: Reach is the worst multiplayer experience in the series. I didn't get that far into it; his #1 complaint was present in Halo 2 and Halo 3, as well, and his #2 complaint says RIGHT IN THE DESCRIPTION that Reach is actually better than Halo 3. But if you're unhappy with Reach, go read this and commiserate.
- A video game company in Franklin, TN (just south of Nashville) is hosting a 1-day video game convention tomorrow - and there'll be a 4v4 Reach tourney to play in.
