SSPH 0.2: The Healers
7Pandas has put up episode 0.2 of their Silver Stars/Purple Hearts series (they're still in the 'pre-story mode') - this one, again, is primarily Sims-driven, but there is a bit of Halo content (and the story is very definitely set in the Halo universe). Very nice production work, and an interesting storyline - go watch! They're hosting a 44-mb WMP9 version of the episode (as well as a low-res WMP9, 11.1 mb, on their downloads page); we're mirroring the high-res, in case their bandwidth runs low, and we're offering a hi-res QuickTime version, as well (41.1 mb). I'm looking forward to the next episode already! (Louis Wu 15:07:54 UTC)

Going for a Jump
Broken Console Productions' The Squadron, Episode 12, is now up for the public; you can find the WMP9 version on their website, and I guess we've become the default host for the QuickTime version. (Both weigh in at a bit over 12 mb.) This ep has the humans fighting for their lives on Terminal - one wonders when we'll run out of soldiers! Good cinematography, as usual. (Beautiful train splatter near the start.) Go watch! (Louis Wu 19:04:43 UTC)

He wants a pony.
Red vs Blue Episode 68, 'Getting All Misty', has been released for sponsors. (That means it'll be free for everyone tomorrow night or so.) I can't tell whether I should be scared... or laugh my butt off. I guess I feel a little sorry for Tucker... but not really. Go watch! Thanks to Psychophan7 for the heads-up. Titan VIII's Montage 4
Z writes to point out Titan VIII's Montage 4 (there was a preview back in September, but this is the finished product). Production value is quite high; great syncing between music and action, and some really nice editing work. The cuts are a bit too fast for my taste (it's really hard to actually APPRECIATE some of the killtaculars because they're gone so fast), but reaction at Halo2Forum has been pretty positive. 104 mb, WMP9 format. Go watch! (Louis Wu 14:16:34 UTC)

They Won Again
AnubisUK sends word that The Squadron, Episode 11 has been posted on their website. Because of bandwidth issues, they're looking for a new home - and for that reason aren't interested in hosting QuickTime versions until after the move, it seems, so you can grab the QT from us (27.8 mb). (WMP9 is available from their site.) Humans are still on the run, though Durge is called on the carpet for how long it's taking to exterminate them. Go watch; this series continues to evolve, and filmmaking qualities are quite good. (Louis Wu 15:33:37 UTC)

A Threesome With Cheerleaders.
Last night, Red vs Blue Episode 67, "Setting a High Bar", was released for sponsors (yeah, it's been a little while). The general public can find free copies on Monday, most likely. The two separate story arcs continue to wend their way through the twisted landscapes of... oh, never mind. It's funny, go watch. Psychophant was the first to tell us. (Louis Wu 15:20:57 UTC)

Hell Quarters: Jonathan Quail
Crossfire submitted Hell Quarters: Jonathan Quail to the MPRRS a couple of days ago - the reviewers loved it. (This version uses subtitles, because of a technical glitch during the creation - he's hoping to submit a new version with voice acting once the problem is solved, and if he does, we'll simply swap it in for these versions.) It's an interesting, dark look at traumatic stress, nicely filmed. (This movie was announced at High Impact Halo last weekend, as well - I'm actually using the hi-res link from that thread instead of the medium-res release submitted to the MPRRS.) 7 minutes long, 72.4 mb in WMP9 format, 75 mb in QuickTime format. Go watch! (Louis Wu 16:55:30 UTC)

Waiting in Line
Chairleg Productions has posted a new movie - it's called 'Waiting in Line', and it's available in WMP9 and MP4 formats (the latter for PSP). If you grab the PSP version, be sure to save it under "/MP_ROOT/100ANV01". This vid highlights the quintessentially British queueing system, as Spartans wait for their Xbox360s - funny! Go watch. The Squadron Ep 9
Broken Console Productions have posted The Squadron Episode 9 - the team has almost found a way out of Turf. WMP9 is up now (14.5 mb) - the QuickTime is on its way. Go watch! (Louis Wu 20:12:00 UTC)

We can control sand.
Broken Console has released episode 8 of The Squadron, in both WMP9 (21 mb) and QuickTime (19 mb) formats. Turf's in some serious trouble... go watch! As usual, high-quality cinematography, audio, the works. (Louis Wu 14:28:16 UTC)

Those Godless Chiropractors...
Red vs Blue Episode 65, 'Looking for Group', was released last night for sponsors (which means it'll be available for the masses by tomorrow sometime). Clearly, Caboose is a closet RPG player. And Simmons is... well, pretty dumb. Props to sarge, for the best epithet of the week ("Great sodium chloride!"). If you're a sponsor, go watch. If you're not, wait a bit. (And please - don't feel you need to tell us when the public versions are live... we announce RvB episodes ONCE, and assume anyone who isn't a sponsor can count to 48, and figure out when to look for the version they can see.) Halzred's Montage 4
Halzred submitted his latest montage to the MPRRS; he didn't want hosting (it's already being hosted over at Halo2forum.com - WMP9, 64.9 mb), but it passed with a pretty high score, and we always try to make hosted movies available to as many people as possible... so I'm putting up a QuickTime version (65.9 mb) just for those who need it. Great editing, great gameplay, fantastic timing. Go watch! (Louis Wu 04:54:03 UTC)

Saucee Montage 3.0
Saucee's third montage passed the MPRRS this morning - so you can grab a copy of it either in WMP9 format (43.3 mb) or QuickTime format (44.1 mb). Nice audio-video synchronization, and some funky video effects. Go watch! (Louis Wu 16:22:21 UTC)

Rad Halo 2 Speedruns
Jeff Cousins pointed out that two of his speed runs (Outskirts and Cairo Station) have been posted up at highspeedhalo.org. The Cairo Station run, in particular, is pretty darned cool - the man is GOOD. (In fact, I'm wishing the footage was higher-quality, it's so impressive to watch.) QuickTime format, 17.4 and 32.9 mb respectively. Go watch! (Louis Wu 21:16:07 UTC)

A swift defeat full of idiots
Broken Console Productions have posted Episode 7 of their 'Squadron' Machinima - it's available in both WMP9 (16.6 mb) and QuickTime (16.9 mb) formats. The squadron is... running into trouble. As usual, high-quality workmanship all around... go watch! (Louis Wu 20:43:04 UTC)

This Spartan Life - Body Count
This Spartan Life was updated yesterday, but we forgot to put up a news post... the newest segment, Episode 2 Module 3, is called 'Body Count', and the topic is gun control. Chest Harlton, the president of the National Plasma Rifle Association, debates a small child about the correlation, or lack thereof, between handgun ownership and household accidents. Go watch! Sponsors vs Freeloaders Ep 8: Fiat Justitia
Today's the day for Sponsors vs Freeloaders, I think. Last night, the trailer for Silver Stars/Purple Hearts was released - if you haven't grabbed it yet, hang tight. They've also just released Episode 8 of Sponsors vs Freeloaders - and WOW. GREAT cinematography, great effects (the coolest one is something you might not even notice as an effect - that's one of the things that makes it cool). The storyline continues to twist and turn, the acting is great. This series is turning into one of my favorites. The WMP9 version is up now on their website; it's pretty big (90 mb), partly because the episode is ten and a half minutes long, partly because they've tacked the SSPH trailer on to the end of it. Their site is being hit pretty hard, so I'm going to make the QT version available from our server until they get it under control - it's 88 mb. If what you really wanted was the SSPH trailer alone, in QT format - I'll put THAT up, temporarily, too (though you really should grab SvF 8, because it rocks). Both of these will eventually be available from the SvF/SSPH sites, and when they are, I'll pull the temp links. (And likely update this news post.) Go watch! (Louis Wu 17:57:21 UTC)

I'm a GOOD guy!
This Spartan Life has added another video blog entry - it's a dispatch from the Bodyguard Competition (part 1, actually). During the competition to see who'll make the best bodyguard, the cameraman has a really hard time staying alive - you gotta wonder about a bunch of applicants for a bodyguard position have trouble telling the difference between friendlies and hostiles... Pretty funny - go watch. (WMP9 coming later today, the next couple of parts of the competition coming in the next two weeks.) (Louis Wu 12:22:09 UTC)

The Stalker
StealthSniper22 created a 'new kind of montage' - it's called 'The Stalker', and it's composed entirely from real XBL Matchmaking Head-to-Head games. It's AMAZING how often his opponents don't notice him following them. (Or, in some cases, standing on their head...) It's hilarious. A lower-res (320x240, 22.3 mb) version can be found in this post, and a higher-res (640x480, 52 mb) version is linked in this post. Both are WMP9 format. (I'm willing to work on a QuickTime version if there's interest.) Go watch - and giggle. Update: Now available as a QuickTime, as well (480x360, 53.1 mb, smoothed a little bit). (Louis Wu 12:54:53 UTC)

The Squadron Ep 5: Location Location Location
Broken Console Productions has posted Episode 5 of their ongoing machinima, The Squadron - grab it from their Videos page. Things are about to heat up... writing is a fun mixture of serious and silly, filming is topnotch. Go watch! (19.3 mb in WMP9 format, 18.1 in QT.) (Louis Wu 16:32:52 UTC)

More montages at H2F
Z sends word of another pair of montages at Halo2Forum.com - one is a trailer - Crypty teases for his upcoming montage vid with very nice editing reminiscent of Dan Chosich's Framework vid from a couple of years ago (15.8 mb), and OscarMayerNinja's Montage 4 is five minutes of effect-laden sticks and snipes (63.3 mb). Both are WMP9 format. Go watch. (Louis Wu 10:49:01 UTC)

New vids at Halo2Forum
Three new movies for download over at Halo2Forum.com - two montage trailers, one full montage. ArKiVe's Montage 2 Trailer (19.1 mb) is almost all snipes, with an occasional sticky or beatdown. Titan VIII's Montage 4 Preview (43.7 mb) is heavy on the BR action. And Fyler's First Montage (91.7 mb) is full of all sorts of stuff. All are in WMP9 format. Go watch. Thanks, Z. This Spartan Life - The ILL Clan Interview
The latest segment of 'This Spartan Life' has been released - Episode 2, Module 2 is now available for download in QuickTime format. (WMP9 is coming later today sometime.) It's 10 minutes long, and Damian talks to Frank Dellario and Matt Dominianni of the Ill Clan about the origins of machinima, the direction it might be headed, and the annoyance of Mr PoopyDoodoo. Thought-provoking dialogue and some great laughs. Go watch! (Louis Wu 12:15:05 UTC)
