No Scope King
Almost a month ago, (GT))Juggler posted a teaser for 'No Scope King', a vid he was putting together that collected no-scope snipes from various games. Last night, this movie was released, and promoted on halo2forum.com. (Bandwidth is being provided - in its entirety - by Mythica; the halo2forum thread is just an announcement.) Unless you enjoy wallowing in mud (and nastier substances), I'd suggest passing over the thread; many (most?) of the posts either rant about how Juggler must have cheated to create this footage, or rant about how stupid other posters are for not seeing this. I've played with Juggler - quite a bit - and I'm not at all worried about the veracity of this footage; he's quite a good sniper, with or without a scope, but more to the point, his skill isn't the point of this vid. It's about watching fun no-scope snipes. And Juggler does a really nice job putting them together. The video is 2:22 long, and weighs in at 35.8 mb in QuickTime format (720X480), or 26.4 MB in WMP9 format (600x450). (The WMP9 has the correct aspect ratio - the quicktime is a bit stretched. On the other hand, the QT has higher video quality, and is larger.) Go watch - but watch it to enjoy the filmmaking. (Louis Wu 11:47:04 UTC)

The Calm Before The Storm
The Codex, Episode 14, has been released - this one keeps getting better. Great filming, great voice work, an interesting storyline. Nice cliffhanger, even. Go watch - and let 'em know what you think! (QuickTime and WMP9 formats.) (Louis Wu 13:01:58 UTC)

GGZ Post New Movies
Dennis Powers points out two movies at Gearbox Game Zone - the first is called 'They said it was impossible', and it takes a look at HaloCE, and shows what's been possible with it. (This might have been prettier had it been filmed on a machine with a more powerful graphics card - but the composition is quite nice.) Available in both WMP9 and QuickTime, 25-37 mb. The second is Halo Tron 2.01, a remake of Tron with some help from the Halo engine. Interesting idea! Again, WMP9 and QuickTime formats, 29.7 mb each. Go watch! (Louis Wu 10:48:40 UTC)

Codex Ep 13 - Cornered
The Codex Series has posted Episode 13 - things aren't looking too good for the humans. Nice film work, as usual. Go watch! (Louis Wu 13:18:02 UTC)

Getting off the ring - one way or another
Nearing completion of the Halo Cutscene Library - today's releases all show the end of the Maw, and include the standard ending cutscene, as well as the short piece that changes if you play on Legendary, and the scene you get if you DON'T make it to the Longsword before the ship explodes. Go watch! (Louis Wu 15:17:40 UTC)

The beginning of the end
We have two cutscenes from the Maw for you today in the Halo Cutscene Library - the opening scene from the level, as well as the Bridge scene. Beautiful imagery, diabolical villians! Go watch. (Louis Wu 18:05:41 UTC)

A Day in Halo and Halo 2
In early May, Raz0r_117 submitted his movie, entitled 'A Day In Halo And Halo 2', to our Movie Peer Review Rating System. It didn't pass - although reviewers liked the diversity of the montage, they thought parts were repetitive, and the quality of the video was pretty low - but Raz0r found hosting for this at That Weasel Television. You can go watch it there! (If you disagree with our reviewers' opinions, speak out on our forum.) (Louis Wu 17:23:39 UTC)

28 Days Later
I'm breaking a rule because... well, because I want to. Last night, Jamie98s posted a movie on our forum - it's a remake of 28 Days Later, in the Halo engine. It's 25 minutes long, and does an amazing job of capturing the feel of the film. (It's abridged, clearly - but it uses the audio track from the film married to footage from Halo 2, and stays very true to the atmosphere of the original.) The movie is quite large (73-74 mb, depending on flavor), due to its unusual length. You can find a number of mirror links in Jaime98s's forum post - but most of them are limited in the number of downloads they'll support, so we're putting up several mirrors of our own (the rule I'm breaking is the 'no posting movies without MPRRS approval' rule).

    WMP9 (72.5 mb): b.org 1 | mythica.org | b.org 2 | HBO Spartans
    QuickTime (73.5 mb): b.org 1 | mythica.org | b.org 2 | HBO Spartans

Go watch this - there's a lot of work put into it! Update: trigger119 has made copies of both versions available at Halomachinima.com, as well. Thanks, trigger! (Louis Wu 13:36:56 UTC)

Fall of the Covenant
trigger119 points out that Fall of the Covenant, his second machinima project, has been posted at halomachinima.com. It's available in four flavors - high and low-res versions in both WMP9 and QuickTime. (Size ranges from 50 to 100 mb or so.) It's the story of the final battle between Spartans and the Covenant - and the visuals are quite good. In fact, my only real criticism is that the movement of the entire movie is held hostage to the visuals; battle scenes are prolonged well past their comfort point in the name of arty slow-motion death. This gripe notwithstanding, the hudless filming and great choreography give this film some nice polish! Go watch. There are comment threads set up both on the halomachinima.com forums, and our own. Fog of War trailer
A few days ago, Major Hit submitted his 'Fog of War' trailer to our Movie Peer Review Rating System - it failed, but for unacceptable reasons. (One of the judges didn't have the proper codec to see the original file, and instead of simply passing on the review, proceeded to slam it pretty hard.) We've re-encoded it to QuickTime (12.8 mb) and WMP9 (13.5 mb) formats - go watch! This one looks to have potential. (Louis Wu 16:59:07 UTC)

Stryke Force Ep 5 Posted
The Stryke Force team has put up Episode 5: "Guerillas in the Midst". Twists, turns, and an executioner I'd love to hire. They've got the original WMP9 up on their Videos page, and it's been mirrored at HaloMachinima.com (thanks, trigger119). I've also converted it to QuickTime, and made both versions available here: WMP9 (25.9 mb, mythica.org | bungie.org), QuickTime (22.9 mb, bungie.org | mythica.org). Go watch! New Content at RvB
There are two new videos up at Red vs Blue - both are for sponsors right now, but at least SOME of the versions will be available to the general public later this evening. There's a second new map walkthrough - this one covers Containment. Hi and lo-res WMP9s again (we'll be posting QT versions later this evening, as well). The second is RvB's take on the Halo Humpday Challenge... it's pretty funny. Well, if you're not them. If you're a sponsor - go watch now! If you're not... wait a few hours, THEN go watch. Advanced Combat Techniques, Volume 1
Overswarm has put together Volume 1 of a video series he calls 'Advanced Combat Techniques - you can find the video (about 11 mb, depending on flavor) in the Movies section of his Not So Common Sense guide. There are some fantastic tricks in here - you might have died at the hands of a better player because of some of them, and now you can exact your revenge! Go watch. (Louis Wu 15:05:32 UTC)

Forfeit
We got another montage from FuzzySmurf - this one's called Forfeit. Once again, we're providing a BitTorrent link for it (as we did for his last montage) - this is a relatively painless way for us to host montages, so I'm far more flexible about them. Composition is nice, quality is quite high. 56.5 mb, QuickTime format. Go watch! (Louis Wu 14:32:38 UTC)

The Platoon 2: Concrete Jungle
As mentioned this morning, the Halogrid team released 'The Platoon 2: Concrete Jungle' today. There's a direct download link for the WMP9 version (71 mb) on their movies page - but there's no guarantee how long the bandwidth for that will last. I've created BitTorrent seeds (with decent starting bandwidth) for both that WMP9 version and a QuickTime version (78.5 mb) - these are probably your best bet, if you're looking to download this movie without bankrupting the team that built it. Dennis Powers, of HaloMaps.org, has also thrown up http downloads for the WMP9 version, as well as both versions of the first episode (the remix we mentioned this morning, and the original, first-person-version released in February). Use these only if BitTorrent is not an option for you. This one is quite good; great camera work, a moving battle scene... I LOVED the HellJumpers insert, very clever trick. Go watch! Training Mode... Terminated!
A few weeks ago, Tree Skunk productions released the first couple of episodes of Outpost: Coagulation. We've been announcing them as they come out - but the news posts haven't been terribly enthusiastic. This was primarily because I felt the series needed to focus; audio work was shakey in most episodes, and the plot seemed to be staying awfully close to an RvB-type thing. Well, they've released episode 4, and they seem to have taken these criticisms to heart (or maybe they're just hitting their stride). Audio work is MUCH better, there's a storyline that stands on its own, and the camera work continues to be quite good. (I'm lovin' the talking hog. Think Speed Buggy with an attitude.) Currently WMP9 only, though I'll be encoding a QuickTime version later today (if they're interested). Go watch. (Louis Wu 15:09:23 UTC)

Roaming Charges
Red vs Blue Episode 49 has been released for sponsors... and for long-time Bungie fans, this one's fantastic. (It's great for everyone, actually - but the Marathon nod is awesome.) This is one of the funniest episodes I can remember; I think I like it when the whole team is feverish while recording. If you're not a sponsor, it'll be up for everyone on Monday. Go watch! (Louis Wu 18:06:48 UTC)

Finders Keepers
Stryke Force, an up-and-coming machinima series, has just released episode 3, 'Finders Keepers'. If you haven't seen these yet, go watch episodes one and two first - this series is among the best out there, in terms of production quality and voice acting. Episode 3 continues the hunt for Venom - you'd be amazed at how big Blood Gulch really is. The download is currently WMP9-only, but I've already shot them a QuickTime version, so hold tight. Visit their forum for the latest download! (The WMP9 is 26.1 mb, just under 6 minutes long.) Update: The QuickTime link is now up, in the same forum post that contains the WMP9. If you want this right now, you need to register for their forums (free). If you don't want to register, the movies should be available via direct download soon. (Louis Wu 11:43:11 UTC)

Perchance to Dream
Dennis Powers wrote to let us know that he's posted Episode 3 of his Halo CE Chronicles series - showing off the universe of Halo CE and exploring a more thoughtful side of the Halo experience. The Spartan manages to get lost... and scared. Luckily, the AI's along to help. Sort of. 3:31 long, Flash format. Go watch! (Louis Wu 23:43:28 UTC)

The Red vs Blue team (well, okay, the COOL part of the team) is back from the Sundance Film Festival, and they've posted a video they put together for the Festival. 2 minutes of hilarity.
