Halo 3 Mythic Walkthrough - Crow's Nest
The next installment of our Mythic Walkthrough - Crow's Nest - is now online. Daniel 'Tyrant' Morris will provide tips and tricks to get you through what might just be the hardest level in the game (at least in this particular configuration). The video portion of this level is massive - all told, there are over 250 mb of clips illustrating the text. (Be gentle!) The full run is also available as a saved film, if you'd rather watch that way. (There's even a second clip, showing an alternate technique for one of the hardest segments.) Go read, go watch, then try it yourself - if you can beat this level solo, on Legendary, with all skulls on... you're part of a very, very elite cadre of Halo 3 players. (Louis Wu 14:11:43 UTC)

Halo Wars: Field Trip to Harvest
As we mentioned on Thursday, there was a new cinematic unveiled on GameTrailers TV last night - DHalo pointed it out while it was being broadcast, and then Impervium passed along the online link once it went live. It's a pretty impressive piece of animation - and it unveils quite a number of tidbits of the upcoming Halo Wars storyline. Go watch it - and then jump into the thread linked above and toss in your two cents! Update: looks like the entire episode is online - you can see more Halo Wars content, including Campaign gameplay, in there. Thanks, Bzerker01. (Louis Wu 14:59:29 UTC)

TTL Tuesday - it's back!
Tied the Leader, quiet on the blogging front for a bit, is back with a sizeable update. There's a reminder about the Tied The Leader Foundation, and the latest fan-driven efforts to aid its mission. There's a huge, picture-filled recap of ChicagoLANd 3.0, a TTL lanfest that took place over Labor Day weekend in (um... duh?) Chicago. And there's a video highlight reel of some of the fun Gunslinger moments captured over the course of August matchmaking. Go read, go watch - these folks embody the spirit of the Halo community! RvB Reconstruction Chap 13 now up
Red vs Blue: Reconstruction Chapter 13 was posted late last night - the crew does their best (which, um, isn't very good) to obtain a vehicle, or two, to use in a base assault. It goes about as well as can be expected. Production values are as high as ever (there's one effect I'm still having difficulty figuring out how it works). Go watch! (Louis Wu 11:26:21 UTC)

Halo 3 MythBusters: Episode 2
RandomSauce let us know that his second 'MythBusters' video, a project he does with TURRET BUDDY, is now up on YouTube. As was true last time, there are some pretty interesting tidbits, and watching it might teach you something cool! (It should be noted that not all of the research is accurate; for example, they claim that you cannot stick a plasma and frag grenade together in midair... but there are plenty of vids like this one out there suggesting that's not true.) Go watch - I found the clip showing someone killing a Spartan by FIRING A NEEDLER THROUGH AN ELITE'S NECK to be worth the price of admission. Update: RandomSauce let us know that at least in the video I used as a counterexample, the two grenades merged while one was still in the thrower's hand - changing the rules. If anybody's got an example of a plasma and a frag connecting in mid-air (after both grenades have left their throwers' hands), let us know. Until then, we have no legitimate counterexample for this particular 'bust'! (Louis Wu 16:13:03 UTC)

Rustlers Machinima Music Video Contest - Results
Machinima.com/UK had a music video contest - put one of two Jonathan Coulton songs (Bacteria, Todd the T1000) to music, using any game you want, win goodies. The winners were filmed with World of Warcraft and GTA: San Andreas - but Halo was used for fully half of the entries - and I really liked FireDragon04's entry (he's the one who told us about the contest). Aussie Halo fans enter a comedy competition
BlueDingo5 told us a fun story. Tripod, an Australian comedy troupe, has put on a challenge for the last couple of years - they ask fans to submit videos set to a Tripod song, with a $2,500 (AUD) prize on the line for the winner. This year, BlueDingo5 and his buddy submitted a video for 'Way Too Skinny for the Army' - and they used Halo 3 and Forge to do it. It was a finalist, and they were flown down to Melbourne for the final ceremony. They didn't win - but one of the band members told them that it was his favorite, and that he loved the use of Halo 3. I thought it was fantastic. Go watch it on YouTube. (Louis Wu 16:34:07 UTC)

MaStalee's Halo 3 Montage 2
Z let us know about MaStalee's Halo 3 Montage 2 - it's in 720p, with beautiful editing, and some great gameplay. I think what I liked most about this montage was the situational awareness - the clutch flag saves, the precision grenade tosses (I can't remember seeing predictive throws like this since Halo 1), the constant eye on the ball (so to speak). A blast to watch! (The gorgeous image quality didn't hurt.) It's pretty big - a quarter gig for just over 6 minutes of video - but worth it, I think. Go watch! (Louis Wu 12:40:04 UTC)

Red vs Blue: Reconstruction Chapter 8 has been posted over at Rooster Teeth - this series just keeps getting better. Boom De Yada - Redux
Dragoncoals let us know about a version of the "I love the whole world" Discovery commercial song, done (by him) in Halo 3. There've been others before (we mentioned this one, back in June), but I liked Dragoncoals' choice of footage a lot. (The head-bobbing... not so much.) Go watch! Update: at some point, this video was made private - it's now inaccessible. Sorry. (Louis Wu 16:43:58 UTC)
