Helping an old-schooler realize a dream
If you've ever hunted for Halo gameplay vids to download, the name Hp-Fil4 is probably known to you; he runs a huge archive in Poland, and has often been the only source of specific games as a non-subscription download. Well... because he lives in Poland, he hasn't had much chance to compete against the best of the best... but that's going to change. He's planning to come over for the MD-Madn3ss Halo 1 event in mid-June... if his team, the Polish Dream Team, can put together the cash. If you want to see how these guys play, check out this forum thread at MLGPro.com, or this website, which has been put together to showcase the team, and to provide a Paypal link for anyone who wants to help them come here to play. Go watch - and if you can help, please do so! (Thanks to insidi0us for pointing this out!) (Louis Wu 05:42:12 UTC)

Vendetta
Zukan created a trailer for Vendetta, a trilogy he's planning to make in the next few months; it's garnered a TON of decent press to date, both from the general public, and from the MPRRS reviewers. It's really, really well done - I'm looking forward with great anticipation to the final product. Grab a copy for yourself, and decide - the QuickTime version is higher quality (and 49.5 mb), but the WMP9 version is just fine too (and 30.3 mb). Go watch. (Louis Wu 03:01:20 UTC)

View From Heaven
Belligerent put together 'View From Heaven', a music video set to the song of the same name by Yellowcard. The MPRRS crew loved the filmwork. Cinematography is quite good, film quality is quite good. Good angles, all around. Go watch! 30 mb, in either WMP9 or QuickTime formats. (Louis Wu 23:44:40 UTC)

The Valley of the Forerunners: Part 7
Dennis Powers writes to point out that the 7th episode of Valley of the Forerunners is online now at the Halo CE Chronicles website. Harrington takes over and begins to figure out what the marines need to do. Just over 7 minutes long, in (as usual) WMP9, QuickTime, and streaming Flash formats. Go watch! (Louis Wu 19:22:11 UTC)

The Valley of the Forerunners: Part 6
Over at the Halo CE Chronicles website, you can grab part 6 of the Valley of the Forerunners series. Harrington and the marines are starting to get an idea about how much trouble they're actually in. Cinematography is quite good on this one. It's a long one - almost 13 minutes, and weighing in at more than 40 mb for the downloadable versions (or 15 mb for the streaming Flash). Go watch! (Louis Wu 16:30:03 UTC)

The Valley of the Forerunners: Part 4
Dennis Powers writes to let us know that The Valley of the Forerunners, Part 4 is up for grabs at the Halo CE Chronicles website. 10:23 long, available in WMP9, QuickTime, and streaming Flash formats, as always. Commander Harrington and the marine contingent explore the valley a little bit... and aren't thrilled with what they find. Go watch! (Louis Wu 14:14:53 UTC)

Playing With History
The MPRRS passed two movies in quick succession this morning; the first we just posted, the second is called 'Totally Random Act 4 - Playing With History'. It was submitted by KeyboardKiller, of Pothole Studios, and tells the story of a couple of friends who invent a time machine, and then try and figure out decent uses for it. Pretty funny, nicely filmed! Go watch. WMP9 version is 15 mb, QuickTime version is 17 mb. (It was originally submitted in DivX 6.1.1 format, but some of the reviewers had trouble with that, so switching to our standards seemed to make more sense. If you really want to see the original, you can grab it here - 20 mb.) (Louis Wu 19:08:03 UTC)

HCEC: Valley of the Forerunners, Part 3
The Valley of the Forerunners, Part 3 has been released over at the Halo CE Chronicles website. Harrington encounters stiff resistance from the marine contingent... and the first real sign of trouble appears. 7:29 long, available (as always) in WMP9, QuickTime, and streaming Flash formats. Go watch! (Louis Wu 15:35:00 UTC)

Conquest Trailer
The Broken Console team is starting a new series - this one is called 'Conquest', and they've got a trailer for it up on their site (WMP9 and QuickTime). Go watch! Nice mix of Halo and Halo 2 footage, and movie dialogue. (Louis Wu 23:20:28 UTC)

Halo Nerds Ep 3 Part 1
spartanerik pointed out a new Flash vid - 'Halo Nerds Ep 3 Part 1', over at Newgrounds. Nice artwork - but I found it pretty dull, overall. Maybe it's just me. Go watch. (Louis Wu 14:08:30 UTC)

Immortal Montage Trailer
rywateska is putting together a new 'Immortal Montage', and he submitted the trailer to the MPRRS recently. Went over quite well. It's quite short, and you can grab it in two different form-factors; 640x428 (about 12 mb, QuickTime or WMP9) or 420x280 (about 8 mb, QuickTime or WMP9). Go watch - and then wait for the actual montage! (Louis Wu 12:07:46 UTC)

Operation: Flaring Nostril
Heretics & Heroes Episode 2 has been released - I don't know how many of you are following this one, but if you're not, you're missing what is potentially one of the best series out there. Cinematography is top-notch, voice-acting is some of the best I've heard, there's an actual plot, and it's funny. What more do you want? In this episode, Lt. Feldman does his best to prepare the rest for actual fighting - and not with each other. Available (as always) in your choice of codecs, and your choice of resolutions. Go watch! (Louis Wu 01:07:10 UTC)

It Doesn't Remind Me
Yesterday, SNOWBLIND1717 submitted 'It Doesn't Remind Me', a Halo music video set to Audioslave's song of the same name, to the MPRRS; they liked it. Syncing's not perfect - but it's quite good, and his choices for action are inspired. (The onscreen activity matches the song really well.) Go watch! WMP9 version is 22.3 mb, QuickTime version is 23.7 mb. And go visit his website, as well. (Louis Wu 20:23:31 UTC)

Interlude
Dennis Powers has released Interlude - A History of the Halo Universe, over at the Halo CE Chronicles website. It tells some of the backstory of the Halo Universe, for folks who have watched his Halo CE Chronicles but have not necessarily ever played Halo. It's pretty nicely done. Although Dennis wants to host this movie (in WMP9, QuickTime, and streaming Flash formats), he did submit it to the MPRRS for evaluation - and it passed. Go watch! (Louis Wu 17:53:44 UTC)

Havoc
A few weeks ago, we posted a trailer for a new movie from CROSSFIRE - and this morning, we're finally able to bring you the final product. Havoc is chilling, moody, and spectacularly filmed, with some amazing special effects. It pulled in what might be the highest rating ever from the MPRRS - so you should DEFINITELY go watch it! Just under 100 mb, in either QuickTime or WMP9 formats. (Louis Wu 21:53:50 UTC)

Legendary Episode 1
A few days ago, blackouTT posted a note on our forum about the first episode of Legendary, a new movie he'd made. (The Freeloader fixed his HTML for easier reading.) He submitted this ep to the MPRRS - and they liked it, so we're hosting it. You can grab the WMP9 version (100mb) or a new QuickTime version (91 mb) - go watch! (Louis Wu 18:10:44 UTC)

TSL - The Marty O'Donnell Interview, Part 1
This Spartan Life has posted a new module - it's Part 1 of an interview with Marty O'Donnell, set against a backdrop of Containment's outer reaches. Great stuff - go watch! (QuickTime is up now, WMP9 coming soon.) (Louis Wu 21:28:48 UTC)

Hasta La Vista, Baby.
Burnie's back from his vacation... and Episode 71 of Red vs Blue, 'You Keep Using That Word', has been posted for Sponsors. (Yeah, that means that the free versions should be up by Friday, if not sooner.) Shiela has turned into my second girlfriend, and Simmons has - oops. That's not right. Go watch - it's funny. And say hi to - eep. Never mind. Go watch. (Louis Wu 02:58:37 UTC)

SSPH Pre-Ep 0.3 now up
Silver Stars/Purple Hearts pre-Episode 0.3 is now up for download at 7Pandas.com. You can find a variety of versions on their Downloads page - and we're mirroring the hi-res WMP9 version, and offering a hi-res QuickTime as well. This particular pre-episode has no Halo content in it (it's all Sims2 this time around) - but it's pretty important to the storyline, and it's really, REALLY well-done. (For those who don't know, or don't remember, SS/PH is a Halo/Sims2 hybrid machinima, telling the story of a squad of female spartans.) There's one more of these story-building segments, and then the full episodes begin! Go watch. (Louis Wu 14:08:03 UTC)

Over Jumping
Wow. Over at High Impact Halo, there's a link to a new Jump Tactics vid focusing on Over Jumping - a new kind of jumping that doesn't involve any aided jumps (no rockets, no grenades, no other people), getting its participants to pretty ridiculous places. If you're a fan of jumping, you've got to go watch this. (Louis Wu 17:51:32 UTC)

Stop Drinking The Laundry Detergent.
Over at Red vs Blue, their annual New Year's video has been posted for sponsors - should be up for everyone later today. (I'd guess before midnight, Central time... but hey, I've been wrong before.) Made me laugh - though I don't think it encouraged any actual resolution-keeping... Go watch! (Thanks, SaBoT.) (Louis Wu 20:36:37 UTC)

Pro Gameplay at H2F
Over at Halo2Forum.com, you'll find a couple of great gameplay vids - Exit Woundz playing TmG and Exit Wounds vs Legendz (plus Fonzi and Ms Hotshy). Snipers on Sanctuary (both of them)... great to see how pros use cover. The first vid is 92 mb, the second 134 - both are WMP9 format. Go watch! (Louis Wu 13:01:14 UTC)

The Editing Process
In what has to be one of the more amazingly coincindental bits of timing this week, Chairleg Productions has released a new movie entitled 'The Editing Process' today - you can download WMP9, QT7, and PSP versions from their downloads page. This video focuses on the making of the Halo movie... and if it wasn't for the fact that it actually takes TIME to make a movie like this, I'd swear they used our brand-new Halo Movie Cynics database for its content. It's brilliant - and I don't just say that because I'm in it (sort of). Go watch - and if bandwidth gets tight, we're happy to put up mirrors... this is funny stuff! Update: Rob Armstrong from Chairleg said mirrors were fine - so here you go: WMP9 | QuickTime7 | PSP (Louis Wu 15:19:35 UTC)

A New Beginning
Oliver Stopienski has released "The Halo Revolutions - A New Beginning" - a HUGE (320 MB, 16 minutes) amalgam of styles - mostly, it's a montage vid (alternately showing the usual stuff like no-scopes and sticks and griping about lag issues), but there's also a mini-chapter of his ongoing machinima project in the middle. Encoding seems to be DivX5 - but I can't be sure; I've only got one player that will even SHOW this vid, and it doesn't tell me much about the video stream. You can find it on the Halo Orbit downloads page (it's the third vid from the top). If you've got a large pipe and up-to-date players, go watch! (Louis Wu 14:01:16 UTC)

NSCS Update - Map Walkthroughs
Overswarm has updated his Not So Common Sense strategy guide with 4 new map walkthroughs - these are great for figuring out what people mean when they shout "they're in the Library!" or "Sniper coming up Base Bridge!". There's also a bit of information about what's eating up his time on the front page of the guide. Go watch! (Louis Wu 15:32:59 UTC)
