Squadron Ep 4 Posted
Broken Console Productions has posted Episode 4 of The Squadron - 'Your Mom's An Episode'. It was fun - go watch it. Securing the Perimeter
It seems that my news catch-up is going to need to wait until this afternoon; there's too much family stuff to handle this morning. Before starting the carpentry and gardening, though, there are a couple of video bits you should watch. Video Games Live - Redux
The Video Games Live tour, originally set up for this summer but delayed because interest was too great for some of the venues, is getting ready to kick off again; it starts in Seattle on October 29, with 27 additional tour dates to be announced soon around the US. Dennis Powers writes to point out that Episode 18 of the Halo CE Chronicles, 'Sharing', is now available for download. It's available in WMP9 (30.7 mb), QuickTime (27.7 mb), or streaming Flash (11.2 mb) from the Season 2 Downloads page. A plot summary can be found here - and Dennis wanted to make sure that everyone watching realized this episode contains more individual violence than previous episodes; something to keep in mind if you've been watching the series with small children. Halo2Forum Montage Madness
Two new montages on Halo2Forum.com - both contain some pretty impressive gameplay. Both are WMP9 format. You can grab DaY's Montage from this thread (a hefty 148 mb), and OlManMakowski's Montage 2 from this one (48 mb). This Spartan Life Ep 2 kicks off
This Spartan Life has kicked off Episode 2 - module 1 (Opening and extended monologue) is up now. 28 mb in QuickTime format, 22 mb in WMP9 format. (The WMP9 link is actually not active on their site yet - but you can grab it from the GearboxGameZone website for now.) Hey - who couldn't love a talking shotgun? Guests in Episode 2 will be The Ill Clan (a machinima crew that has been making cool vids for years with the Quake engine(s)) and Marty O'Donnell from Bungie. Lance returns! Lost Stratosphere Ep 2: Aftermath
A couple of days ago, the MPRRS processed the second episode in Final Supremacy's Lost Stratosphere series. It failed - because one of the reviewers decided that the download took too long. Since this is an absurd criterion for a failing grade, I've overridden the score - and the movie is available to you in either QuickTime (38.6 mb) or WMP9 (37.5 mb) formats. Nephrons - Minus Five
The next episode of Nephrons ('Nephrons - Minus Five') has been released by ChairLeg Productions - and it's passed our Movie Peer Review Rating System. You can grab it in PSP-friendly form (368x208, 16.2 mb, MP4 encoding), directly from their site... or in PC-friendly form (standard 640x480 formats) from us; WMP9 format is 44.3 mb, QuickTime format is 40.6 mb. DarqKnyght created a spoof montage - ever wonder what it would sound like if Homer Simpson played Xbox Live? Wonder no more! Timing is beautiful, and there were several laugh-out-loud clip choices (for me, at least). Warning ahead of time: anyone who chooses to denigrate the actual gameplay shown ("those weren't very impressive kills") on our forum will be mocked mercilessly by me - this montage is NOT about the masterful play, it's about the great matchup between gameplay and Simpson snippets. The Codex Series Ep 19: Power Plays
The Codex Series, Episode 19, is now online - 'Power Plays' is the second-to-last episode, and has some great scenes in it. Great action, nice suspense... go watch! Dymdez's Montage II
Saturday morning, we got email from Z, at halo2forum.com, that Dymdez's Montage II had been released, along with a request for submission to the Movie Peer Review Rating System. It took about 36 hours for the movie to work through the system - in what might be a first, it didn't receive a single score below passing. I'm a Dancing Fool
Hehe - TheGhost posted a short film (3.2 mb in WMP9 format, 2.8 mb in QuickTime format - smaller because I didn't bother to include a blank audio track) showing some pretty funny animation. A couple of forum regulars called 'foul' (Mig and Steve both suggested that this was rigged elsewhere, and overlaid over a Blood Gulch background, instead of actually being recorded in-game)... but whether it's real or not is irrelevant when you're deciding if it's funny (which it is). Cairo Station
Over on the High Impact Halo forums, comradx released Cairo Station, the first of seven episodes that will make up his full-length feature film based on Halo 2. A significant percentage of the film is made up of cutscenes from the game - but then, if he's reproducing the Halo 2 story, doesn't it make sense to use them? The movie is almost 40 minutes long, and contains some great camerawork. (I haven't had time to watch the whole thing yet - but I'm impressed so far!) comradx has released a 120 mb WMP9 version via YouSendIt - likely by the time you read this, it'll be offline. There's a slightly lower-res version hosted by trigger119, at halomachinima.com. We got word of this too late to be able to help out at the moment - but it's possible I can get something online in the near future. (It won't be today.) Go watch! This Spartan Life
A few days ago, we got email from Matt Cheeser, alerting us to 'This Spartan Life' - a pretty unique concept; Damian Lacedaemion is a talk show host who uses Halo as a set. His guests talk about a lot of things - games, yes, but plenty of other things. It's machinima... mixed with talk show television. It's fun. There are five episodes so far. (They got a pretty good review on G4's Attack of the Show - we've taken this long to mention them because we wanted to help with bandwidth first, and setting up took a little while.) Go watch! Oh So Beautiful
Jamie98s whipped up a nice little video (WMP9, 10.6 mb | QuickTime, 9 mb) showing some of the pretty stuff in Halo 2's multiplayer maps. No plot - just pretty. The Jack Johnson soundtrack is a perfect fit, too. There haven't been a lot of films passing the MPRRS recently - this is one. Go watch. (Louis Wu 14:43:41 UTC)

Red vs Blue has posted a 6:22 walkthrough of Gemini - Burnie warns you that this might spoil the initial experience of playing the map, because it's so detailed, but if what you really want is to know how to get around, you can't beat this.
