Oh no, where do we go?
Oh no, where do we go? Hawty McBloggy found an entertaining (if NSFW) Halo rap on YouTube - go watch. (She warns that it's slow for the first 4:50 - she's got that colon in the wrong place. It's only 45 seconds.) There's more information about Warped Corp, the group that put this together, on the actual YouTube page. (Louis Wu 12:16:25 UTC)

Shellshock
Z pointed out a new Halo 2 montage called Shellshock - good gameplay, nice editing. Lots of extras. The download package is over 130 mb (though the actual movie, in .mp4 format, is under 90 mb). Go watch. (Louis Wu 14:11:01 UTC)

A Compendium of Strategies
Over at MLGPro.com, Brick has put together a bunch of user-created videos that can teach you some cool strategies and techniques. Go read, go watch, and get better! (Lots of jumping vids, but also grenading weapons to you, angles for throws from particular positions TO particular positions, etc. Videos like this were common for Halo, and pretty useful - I saw fewer of them for Halo 2. This link will be a central location for the ones Brick thinks are worth sharing with the community, so check back. Thanks, trigger119. (Louis Wu 15:18:23 UTC)

Do they get any younger?
MasterChief2829 has a talented little brother - the kid's three and a half, and he's playing Halo 3 online (and doing reasonably well). Go watch the movie. (Louis Wu 14:11:29 UTC)

Try this in real life, you'll die.
Whoa. EGG0S has put up a video in the MLG Gameroom that shows some astounding exploits of a physics glitch in the Halo 3 engine; I'm not positive, put it looks like what's happening is that when you toss equipment, it can actually provide support for a short (very short) time; if you're in the air, and you throw it down, you can actually JUMP OFF IT. This makes pretty amazingly long jumps possible. Go watch. Thanks, trigger119. (Louis Wu 19:33:04 UTC)

Blame Halo 3
Heh. Dark Helmet found a great song at Break.com - these folks went to great lengths to make a funny video, go watch it. (Louis Wu 10:52:50 UTC)

RvB's Recovery One kicks off on the web
Recovery One: Part One is now available for Sponsors on the Rooster Teeth website. If you're not a sponsor, you can grab it for 80 points on Xbox Live (that's a buck). It picks up (sort of) where Out of Mind left off - I'm not really sure where Wyoming came (back) from... but I'm sure that'll become clear in later episodes. Go watch! (Louis Wu 14:17:57 UTC)

News Log talks, MC listens
Log.TV has a new program called News Log, and a couple of weeks ago, they interviewed Master Chief. Well, sort of. I'm not sure if his mic was broken, or what... but the guy redefined the word 'stonefaced'. Go watch! (Louis Wu 19:06:11 UTC)

Oregon Trail, 2552 Style.
AnTi PRO let us know that ArmTheFlag.com is in the process of creating the first episode of a Halo 3 machinima project titled ' Oregon Trail: Pioneering Evolved'. They released a trailer a month ago, using the Halo 2 engine... but didn't want to spread the news too widely until the Halo 3-based first episode was almost finished. They're mostly done with filming, and about to start on voices... so it's time to go watch the trailer. You can stream it at YouTube, or download it from Mythica. And keep your eyes peeled for Episode 1! (Louis Wu 20:40:56 UTC)

The Splatter Tage
Z let us know about The Splatter Tage, a Halo 2 montage of (yeah, you guessed it) splatter kills. It was put together by the Fighting Wombats, and it's actually a lot of fun to watch. (I could have done without the blurry stuff from Ascension - that gave me a headache - but for the most part, effects were kept to a minimum, and it was all about the crushing.) Ten minutes, 150 mb, WMP9 format. Go watch. (Louis Wu 05:00:32 UTC)

RvB on CNN
Biggest number of emails in the last twelve hours is about a story on CNN.com (it was on the front page last night, according to Shadowsniper689, but it's not, any more) - it's a two-minute video clip about the guys behind Red vs Blue, and how they got into using Halo to make machinima. Go watch! (Louis Wu 11:42:07 UTC)

Dust to Dust Trailer
Yesterday, siliconmaster482 stopped by our forum to point out a machinima project being built in 3ds max - it's called Dust to Dust, and they've released a trailer. I liked it; it's quite simple, but the work is quite good. We're helping with hosting - there are three WMP9 versions listed in his forum post, and we're mirroring those... plus we've got three corresponding QuickTime versions.

High Res (1024x720): WMP9 (32.3 mb) | QuickTime (27.8 mb)
Medium Res (640x480): WMP9 (11.6 mb) | QuickTime (10.8 mb)
Low Res (320x240): WMP9 (4.3 mb) | QuickTime (4.4 mb)
Go watch, and see if you agree that this project has serious potential! They're looking for folks who'd like to help build sets in 3ds max, as well as anyone able to render the final films; these are their two biggest bottlenecks at the moment. siliconmaster482's email is in the forum post, if you'd like to join the team. Mat Galvin sent us links to a five-part video documenting the Halo 3 launch in Universal City, Hollywood. It includes interviews with Bungie's Vic DeLeon, Allen Murray, and Jonty Barnes, comments from tons of fans, some truly bizarre moments. Each piece is about 4 minutes long - go watch 'em in order.

No spoilers - it was all recorded before the game was played by these folks. (Louis Wu 12:53:33 UTC)

ARG Video (almost) Wrapup
Ibeechu and DHalo have released a pair of videos in their 'Perceiving the Dimensions of IRIS' series - these two episodes were a bit delayed by real life, and they realize the ARG is over now... but if you're curious to know how it all (almost) ended up, you should go watch episode 4 (WMP9, 24.1 mb | QuickTime, 20.3 mb) and episode 5 (WMP9, 41.7 mb | QuickTime, 39.3 mb). There's one more episode coming - but don't count on it before Halo 3 is released. (Louis Wu 21:38:10 UTC)

Samir Patel was the first to let us know about 'Halo: Orions Spartans I', a new Flash vid at Newgrounds. Very high production values, and this one's unusual in that it's a serious story, not a comedy. Go watch! (Louis Wu 13:26:11 UTC)

Revenge
Bzerker let us know yesterday about Revenge, a new video from Treeskunk and Team Conquest. As the title might suggest, it's the story of... well, revenge. Lots of fun action. 12 minutes long, roughly 100 mb, depending on version - you can download it from GamingTV. Go watch! (There's also a ridiculously large version hosted at Treeskunk, linked in this Team Conquest thread.) Update: There are now many versions available from Treeskunk - thanks, Bzerker.
