Halo on a PSP. Really.
Demonic noticed a story over at Destructoid; that some folks have modded a homebrew PSP game with Halo graphics, and have Halo running on a Playstation Portable. Nice! Update: Mintz pointed out that this is actually pretty old, and that he reported on it at Halo: Portable back in March of '06. Not only that... so did we. Oops! (Louis Wu 22:14:16 UTC)

Heh - Caboose in Halo 3?
According to Kotaku, the winner of the Child's Play auction for the chance to have a line in Halo 3 was someone from the Red vs Blue crew - nice! Thanks, 3Suns. (Louis Wu 14:55:52 UTC)

TTL - more than just a pretty gun
It's Tied the Leader Tuesday! That means XerxdeeJ stops by our forum to point out all the cool new stuff you can find at TTL this week. This week contains a 22 Questions interview with Dolbex (who'da thunk he wanted to be a tour guide?), a clan profile of the Halo2Junkies (stats rule), and a very cool announcement of the launching of the Tied the Leader Foundation; 30% of the proceeds of store sales (and 100% of direct charitable contributions) collected by the Foundation will be "donated to organizations that insure fighting men and women who are wounded in action receive the extra help they need in rehabilitating themselves to a fruitful and productive life once they return stateside." Nice! Get to buying! (If only their Baseball T's came in XXL...) (Louis Wu 16:47:49 UTC)

That's just... big.
Heh - if you're interested in a super-high-resolution version of the campaign screenshot released yesterday (uncompressed TIFF format, 5120x2880, 28 mb), you can find one over at HaloPlanet. Nice! (Louis Wu 16:17:41 UTC)

Halo to Myth II
Back in March, there were reports of a couple of different Halo mods for Myth II - this one, at PlayMyth.net (thanks, Chris Arthur) which also led me eventually to this one, at Project Magma; it's unclear whether either of these went anywhere after March, or whether any actual files were released... but the screens are nice! (Not sure why these didn't cross our radar before now...) (Louis Wu 11:08:49 UTC)

More beautiful with each passing month.
Bungie has posted the second Halo 2 Vista Developer Diary - Matt Priestly, H2Vista's producer, discusses the state of development in areas like performance, UI, and the keyboard-vs-controller debate. Their preferred screen resolution is 1920x1200... and they have it running at 60fps. Nice! (I wonder what sort of stats your PC has to have to manage that, though...) Looks like TheGhost was first with the heads-up, via email. (Louis Wu 09:56:39 UTC)

A digital pastime prodigy
The New York Post has an article about Lil Poison - and how he's making money tutoring adults to play Halo. Nice! Thanks, Jim Shorts. (Louis Wu 15:44:49 UTC)

A Slice of Pi
Vista Week continues at Bungie.net, with an interview of the guys from Pi Studios, the folks creating the tools that will let you create new content for Halo 2 on Vista. Great to see familiar names - Dave Mertz did some wonderful work on Halo PC (and the tools released with HaloCE) when he worked for Gearbox. They say several times during the interview that the end user will be provided with everything needed to create new maps for Halo 2 - it's not stated explicitly, but I'm guessing this means that you no longer need a copy of 3ds Max or gMax to actually build the level geometry. Nice! darthbob was kind enough to post a heads-up on our forum. (Louis Wu 02:17:15 UTC)

Bungie Schwag
Down at Comic-Con last week, SvF's Laird snagged a poster that represents the monthly Halo comic coming out next year - along with some signatures (front | back). Nice! Update: gah, total misunderstanding. That is a charcoal drawing done for Laird by a friend, and signed by the Bungie crew. THIS is the poster created to promote the monthly comic. Must be Monday... The winners of our last 7 on the 7th contest have begun to receive their prizes - Geary posted a pic in our forum, and wigglepie13 emailed us a nice thank-you. All I have to say is thanks, Bungie! Update: And one more, from Sane Intolerant. Nice! (Louis Wu 12:38:59 UTC)

Cookout! Grenades! Cake!
rapture sent word that recently the Hushed Casket held a LANfest - 'Cookout! Grenades! 2' - to celebrate one member's house purchase and the anniversary of the first Cookout! Grenades! LAN (with a shout-out to Midnight, who couldn't be there because he's in Iraq)... and of course, they had a Halo-themed cake (pic 1 | pic 2). Nice! (Louis Wu 17:05:45 UTC)

The Halo-Related Art of Luke McKay
Well, I haven't gotten EXPLICIT approval, but he's linked to it from his Red vs Blue profile... so I guess he's okay with it. If you visit Red vs Blue for anything other than the videos themselves (that is - if you avail yourself of the community tools provided by the website), you've almost certainly run across Luke McKay, a regular there who creates a lot of very cool avatars and images for people. I asked him about the possiblity of consolidating his Halo-related work in one place... and he said sure... so swing by his gallery page here at HBO, and check out some of his work! There are caricatures of RvB characters, comics, and random Halo-related stuff. Nice! (Louis Wu 19:41:47 UTC)

Origami - and the Halo link
Interesting. Microsoft launched a new website recently, called 'The Origami Project' - tech blogs across the net have speculated on what's behind it. A new cell phone, a new handheld device... well, maybe it's both. Eastbeast314 pointed out a blog entry at Kevin 2.0 (which in turn got its info from an Engadget comment) which will lead you to an ad for the device, from Digital Kitchen. The entire DK site is Flash-based, and the ad shows you a lot of the different things you can do with the Origami device... but the one that's relevant here is a short clip in the middle. A guy, sitting in a subway... playing his way through Silent Cartographer. Nice! (If you don't want to go through the trouble of hunting down the full movie, or you're not interested in the device per se... you can grab just the Halo clip from us - QuickTime or WMP9. They're both under a meg.) A handheld Xbox? Coolness. (Louis Wu 17:58:50 UTC)

Heart is a Lonely Hunter - in Hi-res
Wow, cool. Feenix writes to point out that the Cover DVD for the current issue of Xbox World 360 Magazine in the UK has the full half-hour machinima 'The Heart is a Lonely Hunter' on it - in full DVD quality. While you can download this movie from us (either in pieces, or as a single video) or from the HiaLH website - you CANNOT see it in full-screen glory unless you grab this mag. Nice! halowiki continues to integrate b.net content
PEZ points out some new features at halowiki.net - the Gamesaver can save stats from given games as wiki pages (useful to save that one-in-a-million game even when Bungie purges it from their servers), and you can now access recent games with a direct link (just add a slash and your gamertag to the end of that link). Nice! (Louis Wu 13:39:01 UTC)
