Halo Scale, Revisited
Yesterday, we got a note from Stephen Loftus - he'd used a tool pointed out on our forum to add some previously-unknown measurements to his Halo Scale Comparison charts. Halo 3 Cleans Up in Advertising Awards
Wow, weird. Looks like there were two totally separate advertising award ceremonies this week - and Halo 3 cleaned up at both. Last night, the Art Directors Club held their 87th Annual Awards Gala, and Halo 3 picked up 5 Gold Cubes (for 'Broadcast/Product Service Promotion/Art Direction', 'Broadcast/Online Commercial Webisode', 'Broadcast/Online Commercial Webisode', 'Integrated Advertising', and 'Broadcast/Craft/Art Direction'), one Silver Cube (for 'Broadcast/Craft/Direction'), and two Distinctive Merits (for 'Broadcast/Music/Sound Design' and 'Interactive/Microsite'). Their full press release contains all the details. On Wednesday, the Advertising Club of New York held their 34th annual Andy Awards - and the Believe campaign picked up the 2008 'Grandy' (best in show). Nice! (Louis Wu 14:04:13 UTC)

MLG to Preview Blackout in NJ this weekend

Bungie steps up to the Major Leagues
Bungie decided to play this week's Halo Humpday Challenge against randoms in the MLG playlist, and they brought along a ringer - MLG Commissioner John Nelson. The writeup shows why MLG team play is a different world than your standard matchmaking fare. (Thanks to the coordination efforts of Nelson, Bungie won two of the three games. Nice!) Stuicide (who was part of the team Bungie stomped in game 2) mentioned this on our forum last night, but nobody cared to comment. (Louis Wu 13:10:13 UTC)

Halo 3 in WCG 2008
Halo was a part of the World Cyber Games in 2003, 2004, and 2005 - but they dropped it in 2006 and 2007. (2001 and 2002 were PC-only competitions; Halo wasn't even eligible.) It's back now - Halo 3 was announced yesterday as one of the fourteen games (four console titles) in WCG 2008. Nice! (We mentioned the possibility in October, good to see it's panned out.) Weta's headed to London on May 24
Ross Mills noticed a tiny reference in the writeup for the London Movie Comic Media expo, coming in late May - Weta workshops will be there, with (among a lot of other things) "A sneak preview of the new Halo range of Collectibles, featuring Master Chief." Nice! (Louis Wu 16:01:57 UTC)

Overkill Extermination Mongoose Mowdown
thehomeland ran across someone bragging that they'd gotten an extermination with a mongoose; he didn't believe it, but the film is still in gizmo777's fileshare. (It's slot 1, labeled "WTF!!!") thehomeland decided to make it more accessible to those without access to the film, so you can watch it on YouTube, or you can download higher-quality versions from us (WMP9 or QuickTime, both a bit under 15 mb). GAME honors Halo 3

Black is the new Grey
Heh - Bungie hasn't had a 'Black' option in your armor customization choices since Halo - but there IS a 'black' option in the 'Force Colors' team options for multiplayer games. So Gravemind took advantage of it to create a Halo 3 Spec Ops Elite. Nice! (Louis Wu 15:18:21 UTC)

Trolling the web, so you don't have to
Hawty McBloggy has a whole bunch of goodies to show you; starting off, there's a Master Chief helmet created in Forge. (I thought I'd seen this before - but I can't find it in our news.) Then, she mentions an auction for an item she does NOT want you bidding on - because she wants it. Finally, she points out an auction for a custom Halo 3 Guitar Hero III for the 360. Nice!
