Another Option For Games Listings
PEZ has added a new feature to halowiki.net - there's now a Recent Games extension. You can set up a page that keeps track of your recent games - it's an easy way to see at a glance some of the stats get on Bungie.net, all on one page. Nice! (Louis Wu 15:59:11 UTC)

Old-Skool Jumping
Yesterday, while I was stuffing myself past all rationality, Ducain sent me a link to this newspost at High Impact Halo - SneakyPete has recreated a classic Halo trick... with s7yle. 3 Warthogs, a Banshee, and the Master Chief on top of the lightbridge tower... in single player. To keep you from having to deal with Putfile or Picapic (and to offer QuickTime users an alternative), we're hosting both the original hi-res WMP9 (20.2 mb) and a re-encoded QuickTime (19.9 mb). This one's pretty nice! (Louis Wu 15:25:07 UTC)

Advantage: 360
TeamXbox compared Halo 2 running on an Xbox360 through an S-Video cable to Halo 2 running on an Xbox through an S-Video cable - and they were pretty surprised to find that there's a sizeable difference. Their results suggest that Halo 2 will look better running on an Xbox360, no matter WHAT you're playing it on (well, I guess they didn't test standard composite video). Nice! Thanks, Tempus Fugit. Church on your 360
Tempus Fugit pointed out an article at TeamXbox about some of the content that will be available on the Live Marketplace when the 360 launches next week - and Red vs Blue videos are among the items you will be able to download. Nice! (Louis Wu 16:55:39 UTC)

MLG Midweek News
3Suns points out a new batch of Video on Demand footage available at MLGPro.com - 1v1 footage from MLG LA. There's also a note explaining that Tekken 5 tournaments will be discontinued... and that the money remaining in the Tekken 5 pool (nearly $20,000) will be redistributed to Halo and Super Smash Brothers tourneys. Nice! (If you haven't been by in a while, give the MLG Atlanta (Halo 50k4) info page a read... it's coming at the end of November. (Louis Wu 14:53:44 UTC)

An epitaph - before it's even gone
The Philadelphia Inquirer's Dennis McCauley wrote a column for tech.life@play called 'Xbox Hitting the road'. (You have to sign in to read it in its original location, so you might as well grab it from a syndicated location, instead - The Wichita Eagle is running it, for example.) It's taking a look at the run the Xbox has had (assuming that it's dead now that the 360 is about to be released - a bad assumption, maybe). The end of the article lists McCauley's top 10 Xbox games - Halo is number 1, Halo 2 is number 7. Nice! (Louis Wu 14:49:16 UTC)

Halo fans like their movies
Dennis Powers wrote to point out a milestone over at the Halo CE Chronicles - over 50,000 downloads of the series (and counting). Nice! If you haven't seen it, and don't feel like downloading each episode of Season 1 individually, he's re-released the season in two chunks; episodes 1-5 in one file, and episodes 6-9 in a second. Go look! (Louis Wu 12:39:33 UTC)

Do-gooders make the local paper
A couple of weeks ago, we mentioned a pretty cool charitable act - BoneKin was going to let his XBL performance decide how much money he was going to contribute to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Last week, apparently, this story was picked up by the San Antonio Express-News - nice! Thanks to N1NJ4, who scanned the paper article, and GreyThor, who found the online version. Shirts - one way to help
SketchFactor has posted another 'Fight the Flood' shirt update - total number of shirts sold is closing in on 10,000, and total dollar amount donated to the Red Cross disaster relief fund is almost $150,000. Nice! (If you haven't bought a shirt yet, consider it.) Thanks, Schedonnardus. (Louis Wu 16:55:37 UTC)

Boy Scout Patches - Redux
A couple of weeks ago, we mentioned Halo patches from the Boy Scout National Jamboree - thanks to contractor, from Red vs Blue, who had a complete set, you can see what all three looked like. Nice! Update: DOH! I forgot to actually link to them. Sorry. (Louis Wu 00:34:17 UTC)

There are a LOT of us.
Whee - looks like The Art of Halo is selling nicely - Eric Trautmann mentioned on his blog that he received his first royalty check from Del Ray, and he thanks the Halo fans who bought this game. Nice! (Thanks to Rampancy.net for noticing so quickly.) (Louis Wu 15:51:12 UTC)

Baby Love
Halo Babies has a new strip up today (of course they do - it's Friday)... but they also have a new contest: come up with a Red vs Blue-themed plot for a Halo Babies strip, you could win a copy of the Red vs Blue Season 3 DVD. Nice! (For those keeping track, 'A Changing of Hats' contains minor Halo 2 spoilers.) Hey, and while you're there... there's another Humpday-like writeup for a clan match between HaloBabies and the Mob of Angry Peasants. (Louis Wu 13:37:20 UTC)

Halo 2 is G-Phoria King
Wow. As we mentioned a couple of weeks ago, Bungie was up for 7 honors this year in G4TV's G-Phoria awards - the ceremony took place last night (though it won't be aired for another couple of weeks), and Bungie swept all 7 of those categories! Nice! Gamespot's got an article with more details - thanks to altodarknight, who was beaten for the heads-up by Google News Alerts by only a couple of hours. (Louis Wu 15:20:33 UTC)

Yet another one of those Top X lists - Gamespy put up a 'Top 5 Xbox Live Games' recently, and Halo 2 took the number one spot. Nice! Thanks, Promotheus. (Louis Wu 13:43:19 UTC)

The Fist of Justice
Wonga. SketchFactor posted a Banhammer Update a few hours ago, over at Bungie.net (thanks, Dry Ice, for noticing) - in the first 24 hours of AU4.0's existence, 2550 (wouldn't it have been nice if it had been 2552, instead?) people have been permanently banned from Halo 2 Matchmaking. Nice! There's also a mini-faq addressing some of the rumors swirling around - go read. (Louis Wu 00:49:35 UTC)

Machinima book on the shelves
Recently, Phatcorns mentioned on our forum that a new book had hit the shelves - It's called 'Machinima: Making Animated Movies in 3D Virtual Environments' and it uses several movies from HBO regulars (including Phatcorns' 'Out for Blood' as examples. c0ld vengeance pointed out that his 'Haliens' is in there, too. Nice! (Louis Wu 00:08:26 UTC)

Halo Rocks the House
IGN has posted an article entitled 'The Best First Person Shooters on Xbox' - and Halo and Halo 2 took the top two spots (not in that order, though). Nice! Thanks to RC Master for noticing. (Louis Wu 18:51:48 UTC)

Cheaters - looks like your time has come
Looks like someone's been busy this weekend; many, many people who've been cheating using modded maps are now banned from Halo 2 Matchmaking. A recent example can be found in this forum post by pwn4ge, a member of the PraetoriaGuard clan - they were cheated in a Containment game (they even filmed it - I'm waiting to hear if I'm allowed to link to the film; I'll update this news post if I am), and the cheater is now demonstrably gone from Matchmaking. Nice! Update: The movie, showing the cheating (33.5 mb, WMP9 format) can be found on the PraetoriaGuard website. That's some fast running! (Louis Wu 14:52:52 UTC)

Halo 2 playtested on an Xbox 360
TotalVideoGames.com has a story about Major Nelson playing Halo 2 on an Xbox 360 - and not being able to tell the difference, despite the fact that the 360 is not yet optimized. Nice! Though we heard this from Google News, there was also a post on our forum by altodarknight. (Louis Wu 13:32:06 UTC)

Halo Custom for Forza
Hehe - nice! 3Suns found a fun Forza custom car that's pretty Halo-related at Tabwin.com. At the moment, it's no the front page, 7th row (!!), first column... but if it moves, here's a direct link. That baby's probably pretty fast... (Louis Wu 22:50:14 UTC)

Wieldable SMGs
Chris Bryan continues to work on Halo-related pieces - if you check his wearable Master Chief suit page, you'll find a new picture; he's put together a pair of M7/Caseless SMGs that look pretty nice! (He wonders whether he should make 'em shiny, or leave 'em matte... personally, I like 'em the way they are.) (Louis Wu 18:40:02 UTC)

Headlong - for Halo CE
Static Bursts points out a thread at the Gearbox forums about an upcoming Halo CE map, a remake of Headlong. There's a RapidShare-hosted vid (13 mb, WMP9 format) showing the new map, as well as some cool weapons in a tweaked Hang 'em High, and there are pics in the thread. Looks pretty nice! Update: mirrored now at GearboxGameZone - thanks, Dennis! (Louis Wu 02:54:16 UTC)
