Goodbye to 2014 - See You Next Year!
We're definitely ending this year on a slower note than we started it - not from a Halo news standpoint, but from a Halo news coverage standpoint. And for this, I'm really sorry. Fingers are crossed that time will become easier to find in the new year! In the meantime, enjoy the Halo 5 Beta, going on now, and from the crew here at HBO, best wishes for a fantastic 2015! Moorpheusl9 noticed an article at Gamespot that delineated the 3 Halo 5 Collector's Editions... even if they're not fully laid out by 343 yet. In thanks for your continued patience
This should have been posted a couple of days ago - and for the delay, I apologize. Bonnie Ross has written a thank-you to Halo fans over on the Xbox Wire - and if you've purchased the Master Chief Collection, it would behoove you to read it. In it, she apologizes for the problems the release has had, she looks forward to what else is being fixed soon, and she offers an olive branch to outraged consumers: a free month of Live, a free avatar, and a free nameplate will be available to anyone who played the MCC between launch and December 19. Oh, and a couple of biggies: The Halo 3: ODST campaign... and the Halo 2 multiplayer map Relic, reimagined for Halo 2: Anniversary. There are more details on the offer on Halo Waypoint. Looking (way) down the road
Silly me, thinking that coming up for air once meant things would level out a little... While you're waiting for the return of our regularly scheduled events, check out this article at Bloomberg. Bonnie Ross is the focus of a piece on women in gaming, and while there are a number of interesting parts, what stood out to me was a comment she made about the goals of the studio with respect to the life of the Halo franchise. Drinking Games Ep 5 - Screen Watchers
Once upon a time, we let you know about a group called TeamSexy (most of the posts were in 2003 and 2004, though there've been a few references to SexyJosh in the following five years) - they liked Halo, a lot. Recently, they've been hosting a series called Drinking Games, and in honor of the release of The Master Chief Collection, they devoted an episode to Halo. I found it pretty entertaining. I... he's WHERE?
DrBizz let us know that he's expanded on his discovery of a hidden warthog in Cairo Station (we mentioned that back in March 2013). He's actually figured out a way to have the hog driveable! This is done on an original Xbox, with an unmodded version of the game. So what do you do if you're a crazy trickster and you have a warthog? Yep, you guessed it - you launch it. He's got fileshare downloads available of all the Multiplayer maps (from the 360 version, not the MCC version of Halo 4) that you can grab and play around with. Stephen Loftus was messing around with 3ds Max and decided to put the interior portions of the Forward Unto Dawn (the game spaces we play in at the start of Halo 4) into a model of the ship, to see how big it actually needed to be to fit what we saw in-game.
