Arby 'n' The Chief: Hypermail - Silly Billies
There's a new Arby 'n' the Chief: Hypermail episode - Silly Billies has Chief trying hard not to make mom jokes, while the Arbiter dances. Thanks, robofin117. (Louis Wu 21:12:24 UTC)

Awards are cool (and embarrassing)
Laird posted a couple of short films from Halo Fest's VIP party last Friday night - the first shows the presentation of an award that 343 MEANT to offer to a productive community leader (silly people, they gave it to me instead), while the second shows an award that Mr.Sci-Fi and Laird (among others) put together to present to 343. Go watch! (Louis Wu 19:08:03 UTC)

Chase
Avcracy stopped in with word of 'Chase', a short silly video from Firelight Studios. There's a moral in this one, I think. (Louis Wu 15:19:10 UTC)

SEC #1 - !
Over at NeoGAF, Blinding pointed out a short video from SillyGoose - make sure your speakers aren't set too loud before playing this (it starts with a scream), but the editing is pretty wild. (SEC stands for SingleEditedClip.) (Louis Wu 11:42:42 UTC)

A healthy obsession
Hitmonchan needs to take a break from newsposting for a bit - but he couldn't resist sending along a huge batch of farewell links. Check out these videos!

  • Straight Outta Bloodgulch is a music parody from JT Machinima - language is not safe for work, but this is pretty funny!
  • IGN's Top Ten Reach Kills for July 13 has some silly stuff - but a few are great. (I liked the fusion-barrel-wipes-out-AL clip... and the #1 clip ROCKS.)
  • The Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption mod Sci-Fi at War has added some new Halo units - take a look!
  • Schwang and Sizzle put together The Dual, a Halo PC dualtage. Fair warning - mute your audio.
  • And the best of the bunch (according to both Hitmonchan and me) - Mega Bloks has kicked off their Toymation Contest, and the promo video is simply spectacular. Go watch - and then join in the fun!

Yes, it's true. He's addicted to Halo news. (Louis Wu 14:27:17 UTC)

BAKSMAK and Dater's SWAT dualtage
RVideo sent us a link to BAKSMAK and Dater's SWAT dualtage - five and a half minutes of headshot madness. It's not surprising that the targeting control is seriously precise - after all, getting Killtastrophes is unusual, even in SWAT - but what struck me was how quickly these players could home in on the biggest threat after spinning around. It is this skill, I think, that allows these multikills to flow with such ease, more than anything else. After all, if you can eliminate the menace attacking you, you stay alive longer. A pretty fun watch. (Louis Wu 01:36:06 UTC)

Silly user name, fun artwork
SEspider found some nice Halo artwork from DeviantART's Spank-Me-Elmo - an additional look through her gallery shows off an Arbiter pic, a Spec-Ops Elite, and an Avatar-inspired aviation concept she calls the 'HawkMoth'. Go look! (Louis Wu 14:01:26 UTC)

Fails of the Weak Volume 32
Fails of the Weak Volume 32 is now online - this shows that there are still plenty of silly happenings in Halo games, and lots of them result in funny death. Go watch! Thanks, munky-058. (Louis Wu 13:08:09 UTC)

Sandman :: 4/14
Over at Halo Waypoint, bs angel pointed out a new montage from Sandman (with editing by SillyGoose) - it jumps back and forth between Halo 3 and Reach, and makes me want to go play both. Give it a watch! Update: looks like Hitmonchan beat me to this... by 8 whole days. You can't see me, but my head is hanging in shame. (Louis Wu 13:27:57 UTC)

I'm so sick of hearing this song.
SillyGooseGaming put together a Halo 3/Reach montage titled "4/14." Despite the questionable music selection, it's a good watch. Check it out! (Hitmonchan 17:03:42 UTC)

Sandman - Halo: Reach Montage 1
There's a highlighted montage on Halo Waypoint's website that shows off some pretty impressive gameplay - go watch Sandman rip it up on Reach (with some editing magic from SillyGoose). (Thanks, Dogiojoe) (Louis Wu 13:50:06 UTC)

I'm SO saving for the Daft helmet.
In response to a Bungie.net forum post requesting new visor colors, H1GH OCTANE whipped up a collection of 30 new Halo Reach armory items - some are silly, some are super-cool, some should be available NOW. These are hosted at Google, so bandwidth is unlikely to run out... but just in case, we're providing a local link (1.5 mb), because these are great. Update: local link fixed - thanks, kanbo.) Queso Man 8
Queso Man let us know about Queso Man 8, the "conclusive epilogue to the Queso Man saga". (The Queso Man vids are full of funny/silly moments in Halo 3 multiplay.) It was released just before Reach came out... but I guess he got distracted after that. Go watch! (Louis Wu 12:43:56 UTC)

Get off my ring!
Chris Pollit is a character artist who decided to take on the challenge of visualizing Master Chief in his late 50s (well, that's silly, he's ALREADY in his 40s by the time Halo plays out - but let's say "older") - he did an amazing job. If you scroll down to the 'Comicon Challenge 2010' section of his site, you'll see a series of pictures which expand on that shot at the top. Thanks to onebitrocket, who found this at OXM UK. The Tricksters Emerge
Ducain pointed out an awesome summary of cool goings-on over at High Impact Halo - content ranges from silly to hilarious to downright amazing. Folks who were worried that there'd be nothing to find in Reach after they'd finished playing will see that the replayability is fantastic - and folks have only been looking for hidden stuff for less than a week! HaloCharts Funny Fest Top Ten
Firestream sent word that a contest run by Herntacular at Halocharts, asking for funny multiplayer clips, has wrapped up - the video showing the top 10 entries is now on YouTube. Some of these are silly, others are quite funny. Go watch! (Louis Wu 17:04:27 UTC)

Blurring the line between Single and Multiplayer
Germany's HaloBase interviewed Brian Jarrard at Gamescom - if you disregard the silly editing on 'No more Halo games' near the end (and the premise behind the last question), it's a fine interview. Go watch. Thanks, Hypertrooper. (Louis Wu 03:32:01 UTC)

Videosity (and more)
Boatloads of Beatificality at Bungie.net today:

  • Shocktology 2 is a Halo 3 montage from Aftershock (gameplay) and TM22 (editing). Pretty stuff! (Even for an OLD game...)
  • Spectacle is a Halo 3 montage from Sandman (gameplay) and SillyGoose (editing). Still old graphics, and no armor abilities, but hey - the gameplay's pretty good.
  • Eamonn's Halo Reach Betatage has nice graphics and all - but the gameplay could use a bit more depth. What do you want for a game that's been out for 3 days?
  • urk's summarized some key stats about beta play so far - really, really close to our first trillion seconds of playtime. (Actually, probably past it now.)
  • File Under Awesome shows off a few more really cool rendered clips... did you know they're automatically uploaded to YouTube now? They are. Having trouble with Silverlight? Never fear, Bungie Pro now renders right to YouTube (effectively)! Good stuff! (And fun clips.)

Go watch! (Louis Wu 21:48:25 UTC)

Deliciously Deadly Peanut Butter and Chocolate
The Bungie Weekly Update is full of clarifications, cool factoids, awesome high-res pictures, and silly movies. If you're thinking of playing the Beta next month, you should read this. Twice. (It is, as always, available in a slightly less resource-intensive format in our Weekly Update Archive.) (Louis Wu 00:48:34 UTC)

Reach concept art surfaces
serpx pointed out some concept art by Gary Huang, showing off an in-game model for a human soldier. Awesome work! (Apparently, these came to light yesterday, when Split-Screen used them as evidence that Reach can't even match Killzone 1's head poly count, much less Killzone 2's... there are a lot of reasons why that argument is silly, but bringing the artwork to light is enough to thank them for.) Update: in a funny turn of events, SketchFactor pointed out that Gary's models aren't Reach game assets at all:

They are models created as part of a submission portfolio/test when the artist was seeking contract employment with Bungie.

Oops! Guess Split-Screen has some egg on their faces! (Louis Wu 13:04:12 UTC)

Sunday Comic Roundup
Yesterday's Ctrl-Alt-Del's 'silly' makes an analogy I'm pretty sure I'd never have thought of myself... thanks, gunluva. And while we're doing comics, we should (hmm, wrong word) mention Grin + Bear It, over at Hawty McBloggy's - Luke is clearly a frustrated XXX scriptwriter. (Louis Wu 13:05:29 UTC)

TXB readers ask - Frankie answers
Frankie took a little time to answer some TeamXbox reader questions - the Q&A is online now at TXB. Some silly questions, but some good ones, too. And as usual, Frank does a pretty good job of answering. Check it out! Thanks, ElzarTheBam. (Louis Wu 16:37:31 UTC)
