Two new trilogies and a movie? Wonga.
Hmm... during a panel discussion at New York Comic Con last night, Jeff Gomez, President and CEO of Starlight Runner, a PR company, previewed a slide showing some of the upcoming stuff from the Halo franchise - "two new trilogies starting in 2012/2013 with a major motion picture set for release by 2014." Wow... that's a lot of content. Thanks, Exanubisleader. (Louis Wu 20:16:01 UTC)

What if the world... persisted?
Not really Halo-related, but we don't have a site up yet for Bungie's next title... looks like Joe Staten has started some speculation with a comment he made yesterday at his GDC Online talk. Hmm... (Louis Wu 17:51:09 UTC)

Two Switches, Four Shees
Ducain pointed out a newspost on High Impact Halo which shows you how to spawn 4 Banshees late in the game... sort of suggests there might be something worth finding on that level. Hmm... (Louis Wu 17:48:20 UTC)

Things that make you go 'hmm...'
Been a little while since I used that headline... but Laird found a collection of images at Sterling Davis Photo labeled 'Biscuit Filmworks/Halo', showing off some greenscreened photography of what LOOKS like a Noble Team Spartan. (The armor looks like Kat, but the model's a man.) This went down in Los Angeles, but there's no date anywhere. Could this be related to tomorrow's Bungie Day reveal... or is it something else? Curiouser and curiouser... Update: found a blog entry tied to the gallery; this was posted a week ago Saturday. As Davis mentions, Biscuit Filmworks was involved in the 'Birth of a Spartan' piece - maybe this is a followup? Update: Guess these were causing Sterling Davis a headache; they're offline now. Microsoft ExpertZone - getting Reach Beta early?
ElusiveEagle found a link for a potential source for early Reach Beta access. You have to be a member to get in... but apparently members will be getting access to the beta in April. Hmm... (Louis Wu 16:01:05 UTC)

Bungie... Aerospace?
Not sure what this is all about - but Attack of the Fanboy noticed a new trademark by Bungie, for 'Bungie Aerospace' (no, they're not getting into the ship-building field; the registration itself mentions computer game software and hardware). Nice logo! What does it mean? Your guess is as good as ours! I found this at Rampancy.net, where Narc also included a link to a Blast story (which, in turn, has a link to an IGN story - the news is all the same, but the comments might be interesting.) There's also a thread on our own forum, if you want to join the conversation. And just to REALLY get the noodles revving, DeathBringer669, over at Bungie.net, also noticed that the MARATHON LOGO is the subject of a brand-new trademark, as well. (Thanks, Hedgemony.) The Port that Wouldn't Die
Man, oh man... you write something down and put it on the internet, SOMEONE's gonna find it. Matt Waggle is a 3D and Concept Artist that's been working in the game industry for about 5 years. For the first half of 2007, he was working as a contractor on Halo 3. If you check his resume, you'll see that he's listed this time as "Halo 3 (X-box 360 and PC)" - which led Game Guru (who found the same info on Matt's LinkedIn profile) to conclude that Halo 3 PC was in development as late as May 2007. What happened to it? Well, there hasn't been any word - but other than this snippet, the only evidence that it existed at all has been a banner that appeared on some Microsoft pages showing a picture of Halo 3 in a 'Games for Windows' context. In fact, in August 2007, CVG concluded that work hadn't started yet, since Frank O'Connor had said that Halo 3 PC wasn't even "a twinkle in [Bungie's] eye" during an interview at that point. Hmm... Update: Frankie is pretty unequivocal about the status of Halo 3 PC:

Halo 3 was not then, and is not currently planned for PC.

In the words of Emily Litella, never mind. (Louis Wu 17:12:46 UTC)

Bleak? That doesn't sound like Bungie.
OverHeat, over at NeoGAF, noticed a GameSpot story in which a 'source who has seen Halo: Reach first-hand' described the game as 'very bleak and violent', like a 'Gears of War with Spartans'. Hmm... (Louis Wu 11:26:12 UTC)

Fan's eye catches out-of-place props
Rather bizarre - over at NeoGAF, DoctorWho explained how he was watching an interview with John Rosengrant, the 'Head Monster Maker' on the crew of 1987's 'Monster Squad', and saw some really odd props in the background. Monster Squad's 20th Anniversary Edition was just reissued last week on Blu-Ray - according to this review, there are no Blu-Ray-exlusive features, so this interview was filmed in 2007. So... was John Rosengrant working on the Halo movie (at that point not quite as shelved as it is today) in 2007? Hmm... (Louis Wu 16:27:43 UTC)

Starlight Runner surfaces again
rhubarb noticed a mention in the latest Game Informer of Starlight Runner Entertainment, a company we mentioned in passing back in March. A visit to their website turns up a press kit (thanks, General Vagueness) that contains this intriguing paragraph:

In 2008, Starlight Runner was commissioned by Microsoft to prepare the company's multibillion dollar Halo videogame franchise for a global transmedia relaunch. In addition to expanding the breadth of the property by conceiving a series of allnew storylines, themes and characterizations designed to make the property accessible to a mass audience across multiple media platforms and formats, the Starlight Runner team is also contributing strategies for an integrated rollout for all Halo entertainment content over the next five years.

There's also a link to an interview at All Things Fangirl, with some more discussion of what it is that they actually do (or did, for this franchise). Hmm... (Louis Wu 14:40:17 UTC)

Monday Comic Roundup - with a Bonus!
Some fun stuff today in the comic roundup - we've got our standard Sunday Grin + Bear It (interesting uses for Engineers!), we've got a Halo mention in this morning's AppleGeeks Light (thanks to many, first was Jim 028) - this explains a LOT of things - and we've got a very special treat for you. Stuntmutt's back, just for the week, with some new ODST-themed One One Se7en strips! First up - Phony. Here's hoping you like bad puns and bad art - because he's here all week! Try the Kig-yar. Update: OMG, it's TWO strips back from the dead! Halo Action Figure Theater has not one, but TWO updates - there's a guest strip by OboeCrazy yesterday... and a brand-new regular-storyline strip from Elnea which recaps what happened the last time this strip was live (back in June) - and opens the door for a bigger story. Hmm... I wonder if we'll get new strips from ZZoMBiE13, Paul Maestri, or Blackstar this week? (Louis Wu 13:47:28 UTC)

rolandk73 noticed an odd thing - the zip code for the last stop of the ODST Roadshow was 11703. Hmm... (See this post for more details.) (Louis Wu 13:13:04 UTC)

More Halo Movie talk from Jackson and Blomkamp
A couple of days ago, we mentioned a conversation Peter Jackson had with Joystiq - looks like he also talked to IGN. They filmed theirs - and got some footage with Neill Blomkamp, too. Interesting tidbits about the Halo movie - did you know that Blomkamp actually worked for five months on the project before it was scrapped? Or that Universal and Fox are out of the picture at this point, and that the rights are back in Microsoft's hands? Hmm.... (Thanks, Kibbles.) (Louis Wu 21:28:24 UTC)

Top 5 Insane Videogame Computers
1UP.com has posted an article on the Top 5 Insane Videogame Computers - and Bungie has nailed 2 of those spots (one for our favorite Halo AI). The whole thing with the clothing... I never really looked at it that way before. Hmm... (Louis Wu 13:53:44 UTC)

A Halo 'bible'... for real?
Hmm... General Vagueness found an old post on ComicMix discussing a comment made by a consultant at the New York Comic Con in 2008. Apparently, a company called Starlight Runner Entertainment was commissioned by Microsoft to create a 'bible' for the Halo universe. There's nothing on Starlight's website about this project, and as far as I know, it's never been mentioned since... it's unknown if it's gone anywhere in the past year. (Louis Wu 16:37:29 UTC)

What's Vital to You?
DASH wrote to us to point out that the promotional website for the movie 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' contains a list of the earth's 12 most vital items (as judged by what people who visited the site thought they needed to keep). Number one on the list? Halo 3! (Huh? The Bible comes in at #7, and Boobs are all the way down at #9. And the TV show 'Ugly Betty' is at #5? Hmm...) (Louis Wu 21:55:53 UTC)

Halo Wars Release Dates, Worldwide
Hmm... that's interesting. 2900d4u pointed out a post at Strategyinformer.com that provides release dates for Halo Wars, worldwide. According to the site, it will be available in Japan and Asia Pacific first, on February 26, then Europe on the 27th, and finally the Americas on March 3. No word on why the normal 'US first, the rest of the world a little later' pattern is shifted for this game. (Louis Wu 19:02:40 UTC)

Halo undergarments?
Hmm... this is a little odd. Gemini Ace has a pic of a couple of pairs of Halo-themed boxers and lounge pants found at Kohl's (a nationwide department store chain). A little searching found the lounge pants for sale on eBay (just under 7 days remaining) - no luck on another source for the boxers, though. Thanks, t4ng0. Update: s_tygard55 is sharper than I am - he went to kohls.com and found both the lounge pants and the boxers, for much less than that eBay auction. (Louis Wu 15:17:00 UTC)
