Halo: Galaxy of Combat
ElzarTheBam pointed out a fan-made Halo game coming out next year (they have a website up here). Looks to be a free-to-play Massively Multiplayer Online FPS. Curious - it'll be interesting to see how (or if) 343 reacts. (Louis Wu 19:14:55 UTC) (permalink)
HALO: Eye of the Storm
We got a note from Philip Kang about a Halo 3-based machinima he's just released. It's nearly 23 minutes long, and it uses the campaign level 'The Storm' to tell a poignant story. Imagine the level, presented as a meticulously-filmed cinematic experience - you'd end up with this. Kang did all the work himself (except the voicework and titles), and put in hundreds of hours over the past two years - the end result is spectacular. (When you watch this, think about how much filming needs to be done to get AI-controlled behavior that matches the shot you need.) If you want to see what you're getting into, there's a short (2:16) trailer to give you a taste. Sometimes the dedication of Halo fans blows me away. (Louis Wu 16:30:49 UTC) (permalink)

Inside Xbox OXM Report: Halo Anniversary OXM's Ryan McCaffrey interviewed 343's Kevin Grace to provide a nice intro for Halo Anniversary (if, say, you haven't seen enough media about it yet) - the best way to see this is on your 360, in the Inside Xbox section of your Dashboard... but if you don't have time to fire that up, we've put a version online. Enjoy! (Louis Wu 16:17:34 UTC) (permalink)
Gearbox Honors A Lost Soldier Not long ago, Gearbox Software lost a very big fan, Michael John Mamaril, to a battle with cancer. In response to a request from one of the fan's friends, they put together an incredibly touching eulogy utilizing their well-known Borderlands character "Claptrap". The Joystiq article just linked also mentions that Gearbox plans on immortalizing the fan as an NPC in the next game. You can go directly to the eulogy itself here on Soundcloud. While this may not be specifically Halo-related, Gearbox is certainly apart of the Halo extended-development-family. Not to mention that some things are just more important. Godspeed to Michael and all of the HBO family's best wishes to everyone involved and affected. Thanks to Ibeechu for noticing. (GrimBrother One 14:43:53 UTC) (permalink)

When Nerds Play Halo
Stephen Loftus and Laird were discussing in-atmosphere MAC rounds, and one thing led to another... check out Stephen's post for some interesting math showing just how far that Corvette at the end of ONI Sword Base got before going kablooie. Fun!

I swear this never happens to me.
Rooster Teeth's Red vs Blue Season 9 Episode 19 is online at this point - it really does seem like it's going to be difficult to wrap this all up in one more episode! Don't worry about that yet, though - just go watch this one and enjoy. Thanks, Ibeechu. (Louis Wu 14:34:34 UTC) (permalink)
Storytelling & The Halo Effect thebruce0 dropped in to tell us about a new project he is putting together to honor Halo's 10th anniversary. It's a very cool article & interview series focusing largely on the grassroots storytelling so prevalent in the Halo community. Articles will be going up all through the week, and you can read the Introduction Piece here. Definitely worth checking out! (GrimBrother One 14:30:28 UTC) (permalink)
