A glimpse into the mind of a Halo artist
Over at NeoGAF, TheOddOne stumbled across a Picasa gallery belonging to Paul Russel, formerly an environment artist at Bungie, now working at Certain Affinity. It's got some amazing stuff in it; what caught TheOddOne's eye was Halo 3: The Lost City (which is really, really cool), but you should look at ALL of the work there. From early ideas about Cairo Station to ODST building blocks to throwaway comments on Reach images that make you rethink what you've seen... it's a treasure trove. Waypoint Video Roundup
There was a boatload of new material released on Halo Waypoint this week - we touched on only a small portion of it. Here's a summary of some of the videos we missed - there's plenty more content that we're simply skipping! (That means you should explore the site for yourself.)
- jmanX36 put together 'Only Getting Started', a jumping video from Reach's multiplayer - I was really impressed by some of the grenade throws, and the scenery jumps.
- SidewardFuture remade the Jenkins cutscene in the Reach engine - a pretty amazing piece of work, given the limitations set by available resources.
- Stewie2552 released Halo: Reach Fails 13, his latest collection of bad luck and bad decisions.
- The latest collection of games from MLG Raleigh (Finals, games 6-10) are up - it's the end of the 10-game series that Waypoint started last week. Go watch Instinct and Infamous battle it out!
- Jack and Gus from Achievement Hunter did a flythrough of Battle Canyon, the Beaver Creek remake that's included with Halo Anniversary. These guys are good at panning shots, and this flythrough gives you a great look at this map.
