Halo Theme: Mjolnir Mix
Wow... very nice. If you visit nilerogers.com, you can listen to a 1:45 long snippet of the Halo Theme Mjolnir Mix - composed by Marty O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori, with guitars by Steve Vai. Wallpaper for the upcoming halo2.com relaunch

Wideload Aspyrs to Greatness
Nice. Wideload Games, the brainchild of Bungie co-founder Alex Seropian and the first (and only?) company with plans to release a game using the Halo engine, has finalized a publishing deal with Aspyr Media, a Mac publishing house. (This doesn't mean Wideload's first offering will be Mac-only... in fact, it'll be released on Mac, PC, and Xbox.) There's very little info about the game itself in the article, other than some comments about it not being just like Halo. We'll be keeping our ears to the ground about this one - the Halo engine is a pretty solid asset, it'll be fun to see how else it can be used. Thanks, Elite Marine and Gundulf. European Halo 2 Box Art

June GamesMaster Scans posted
The June issue of GamesMaster (a British Gaming mag) contained a 2-page article on Halo; it's mostly content that's been seen in other scans, but ther eare a couple of maps that are nice. New Halo CE maps for download
Oddworld18 points out a new map designed by Baka - it's called Frost, and it's really quite nice. There's a thread about it on the Gearbox forums, and it can be downloaded from The Imperium Software. Also, we got mail from Fatch about a new release he's created, called Cover Canyon II - an open canyon with very different bases. Motor Gulch
Dominator has whipped up a Motorcycle mod for Halo PC; there are currently screenshots and a movie on the Halomods forums. (The actual model hasn't been released yet.) The movie is large (33.5 mb, .rar-compressed), and duplicates footage... but overall it looks pretty nice. First notice of this goes to The Guardians, 3 days ago. (Louis Wu 12:38:09 UTC)

Lethal Rage 3
Pico has submitted Lethal Rage 3, a massive (10:11 long, 35.7 mb) tale of heroism and courage, of finding the strength within to carry on when all hope is lost... and, well, to act like an idiot when you win. Cinematography is awesome, storyline is great, and there are some very nice stunts. VERY nice. Watch this one. (And mirror it for us, if you've got the bandwidth - it's gonna be popular.) It's currently available in QuickTime format from Mythica.org and files.bungie.org, but if you want to put up a copy, send us a link, and we'll announce it. A DivX version will be coming at some point. Update: DOH! Pico had asked me to link to a thread he started last week about this, for discussion. I forgot. Battle of the modelers
Well, the forum argument isn't very pleasant... but the models are quite nice. Wraith has updated his Covenant Assault Boat model we mentioned a couple of days ago (taking into account a number of the suggestions given originally in the thread), and LordHex has put up his own model - this time bringing life to an early Bungie concept sketch of a Shadow. The Angry Zen Master on fixed platforms
Nice. Mat Noguchi took a look at a thorny issue (why does the Xbox, with (by today's standards) middle-of-the-road hardware, kick PC butt when it comes to rendering Halo?) in his weblog. Definitely for the geeks... but an interesting read. (Noticed by Cullen, in our forum.) (Louis Wu 16:24:27 UTC)

I was watching the boob tube and figured I'd give the premiere of that new NBC comedy, Coupling, a look-see. Guess what opens the third act? Two guys playing Halo and chatting about sex. :) It was only for a few seconds, but there ya go. Nice. (Ding 01:56:18 UTC)

Action Trip looks at Halo PC
Action Trip has posted a preview of Halo PC; not a huge amount of new info (and actually the hardcore among you will probably give them a hard time for some of their facts), but the screens are quite nice. 1600x1200, no watermark; there are 10 with the preview, and an additional 17 if you're an Action Trip Plus subscriber.
