If Video Games Were Real
Gtag=Reluctant Chaos found a video called 'If Video Games Were Real' - smosh.com took a look at a few video games to see how they'd play if they were realistic - Halo is among the targets. (Louis Wu 20:20:40 UTC) (permalink)
Nine Levels Underground NeoGAF's Shake Appeal has taken a literary look at Halo 3: ODST - and drawn some pretty impressive parallels between the game and Dante's Inferno. It's a masterpiece of educated videogame discussion, and a fascinating read - and it makes me more enamored with Bungie's story-telling after seeing some of the subtleties that worked their way into the narrative. Give it a read! (Warning: it's quite long - nearly 8,000 words.) (Louis Wu 17:24:30 UTC) (permalink)
Not A Halo Ring
Dani, the man behind Forward Unto Dawn, received an in-game message last night during HaloGAF's weekly custom games. The message came from his girlfriend, and was facilitated by DiabolicalBagel, a friend. The message resulted in a shiny new ring for Dani, some unprintable words for Bagel, and a pretty cool story to tell to the kids someday. Congrats, Dani (and Ellen)! The Gift of Mercy
Nabsuh let us know about The Gift of Mercy, a machinima project directed by Drift0r that uses Halo 3, Modern Warfare 2, and straight-up CGI to tell a story of misunderstanding and betrayal. Narration is done by bs angel. Overall, a great piece of work - go watch it!

A strong vision, from the beginning
Marcus is back with more information about the Campaign portion of Halo: Reach, over on the Reach Developer Blog. Give it a read to see the overall roadmap for game development that Reach is using to get from the team's brains to your Xbox. Go read! (Louis Wu 15:48:36 UTC) (permalink)
Spherical Panorama: Valhalla
HaLo2FrEeEk is back with another cool panorama - this time, it's a 20mb version of Valhalla. Check his forum post for details on how it was created, then swing by to his panorama viewer to play with it! (The Little World version of the map is pretty cool, all by itself.) And if you have a PC, and like the idea of this as a screensaver, he's posted download links for both this panorama and the last one (Epitaph). More are coming! (Louis Wu 15:43:54 UTC) (permalink)
