Summer Mythic Recon Challenge V - The Covenant
The Summer Mythic Recon Challenge rolls on - Tyrant issued the Vth installment (did u c wut I did thar?) today, over at Bungie.net. You've got a week to beat Halo 3's 7th level, The Covenant, on Mythic (SLASO) difficulty, and do it better than anyone else; do so, and you win Recon. In addition to the hints and suggestions provided in the Bungie Blog post, you've got one more resource - Tyrant's Mythic Walkthrough v2.0 of that level went live this morning. A few new movies for your enjoyment, courtesy of the BungLog™:
- Community Funtage 6, from the Funtage Crew, shows off fun/cool/entertaining clips compiled from the community at large
- The Halo 3 Ban remixes Eminem's 'The Way I Am' - pretty well done, and some very nice social gameplay.
- WaffleBrains whipped up Goose on the Loose, a Goosetage - nearly 9 minutes of splatters and brokeback kills.
- CMNeir released 'New Ride', a Halo machinima that anyone with bragging friends can relate to. Well... except for the time travel stuff.

Walmart Sweetens the ODST Preorder Pot
If you haven't pre-ordered Halo 3: ODST, but you're still planning to (because who DOESN'T want the ability to play as Johnson in Firefight mode?), you might want to consider a new deal from Walmart - you get the game, the Johnson bonus... AND a $10 eGift card. (It's only good for online purchases, at either Walmart.com or SamsClub.com - can't be used in stores.) It's like a $10 discount off the game... sort of. Halo Panel at SDCC
San Diego Comic-Con is coming up in a couple of weeks (July 23-26, to be precise), and there's a panel on Thursday's schedule that will probably be of interest to Halo fans:
4:30-5:30 The Halo Franchise: What's Next — Frank O'Connor (franchise development director for Halo) will be joined by a number of special guests to discuss how Halo is evolving into a robust entertainment franchise and what's coming in the future. Room 6BCF
