The Digital Content Crisis
Marty O'Donnell talked to Joystiq recently about the issue of used video game sales. (It's not the first time he's spoken out about this.) The thread on our forum kicked off by Ross Mills has drawn a lot of comments, from fans, from Bungie/Ex-Bungie employees, from Marty himself. Is the solution digital sales? Don't worry - America's still playing video games
It looks like for the first time since March 2006, retail sales of video game software (year over year - that is, for the current month compared to the same month last year) will decline in September. However, Wedbush Morgan analyst Morgan Pachter says don't think this is a sign that Americans are abandoning video games in these times of economic chaos - rather, blame it on Halo 3. It's not that we're buying less NOW, it's that we bought a ridiculous amount THEN. Gives a whole new meaning to the term "Halo effect". Thanks, Sep7imus. (Louis Wu 16:26:44 UTC) (permalink)
