In-Depth Look at Halo AI If you didn't get enough of Damian Isla in the GamesIndustry interview we just told you about, swing by Gamasutra this morning - they have a writeup of a keynote Isla gave at the recent Develop conference. (We mentioned this talk back in June.) It's a pretty interesting look at how the AI in the Halo games has been built to make sure the game remains fun for players. If you're interested in how the people behind the scenes make the decisions that affect how you interact with the characters in Halo, you should read this. (Louis Wu 14:45:17 UTC) (permalink)
Damian Isla talks to GamesIndustry.biz
GamesIndustry.biz posted an interview with Bungie's Damian Isla - it's a really interesting piece. Isla holds forth on Bungie's post-independence enthusiasm, on the state of first-person shooters today, on the differences in design philosophy between games like Halo, CoD4, and Bioshock. There are subtle hints that Bungie might be working on a game that has more in common with Myth than Halo - or might have plans to do so in the future. There's a confirmation that at the moment, they're still a 360 studio. There's a look at how Halo AI has evolved over the years. And more! Go read it. Both GI and Eurogamer pulled the same 'takeaway message' from the interview - a comment Isla made that Bungie could learn from the way CoD4 kept players interested over time - but there's much, much more to the interview than that.
