And now it's four.
According to Major Nelson, CoD4 is still at the top of the LIVE charts; apparently, the release of the auto-update wasn't enough to pull back the crowds. Bungie's not worried, though - according to an interview SketchFactor gave Eurogamer last week at GDC, they see CoD4's success as a plus for the platform - which is a plus for all platform developers. (They've also got some tweaking up their sleeves - playlists, user-created content, and so on - which might shift the balance.) (Louis Wu 20:16:32 UTC) (permalink)
Chris Butcher from the GDC - in French and German
For our international readers - we've run across two more Chris Butcher interviews... unfortunately for some of us, these are not in English. If you can read French or German, though, swing by Gamekult.com (French) and Golem.de (German) for substantial pieces! (Louis Wu 17:46:42 UTC) (permalink)
One man's trash...
Another Halo Comic Strip adds a new race to the mix. I don't think ZZoMBiE13 likes 'em very much. (Louis Wu 16:56:48 UTC) (permalink)
Frag a Friend - live broadcast
Trigger119 pointed out that GamingTV will be broadcasting (live) an event called 'Frag a Friend', set up by PraetoriaGuard - leaders of a bunch of Halo communities will get together each month and shoot each other. The first one is this Thursday, February 28. Stop by GamingTV to watch! (Louis Wu 16:52:40 UTC) (permalink)
TTL Tuesday
XerxdeeJ let us know that Tied the Leader has a couple of new goodies for you - there are some facts from the Entertainment Software Association (and a gamer's spin from deeJ), and a new subsite showing off the gorgeous work of TTL member El Burritoh. Go check it out! (Louis Wu 16:32:45 UTC) (permalink)
Playing to Work It's not really Halo-related... but it's of general interest to gamers, I think; 1UP.com has an article about companies that are taking a page from the WoW playbook and designing business software to be more gamelike. Like, yeah, dude, I'm a Level 60 Staple Requisitioner! (Louis Wu 16:27:02 UTC) (permalink)
MLG Pro Circuit Update MLG Canada's PixelBotGo has a summary of the top teams (and teams to watch) in the early days of the Halo 3 Pro Circuit Ladder Playoffs - catch up on your favorite pros! (Louis Wu 16:24:58 UTC) (permalink)
Halo-themed bike
todman777 stopped by with pics of a motorcycle paint job done by a friend - nice work! (Louis Wu 16:23:36 UTC) (permalink)
He probably bites the heads off of bats, too.
He's running a little late (the article in question was released in November), but Lyndon LaRouche has condemned Wired's Clive Thompson for being degenerate enough to write about video games. (Thompson suggests that in some senses, LaRouche might have a point - he did, after all, write about "the aesthetic pleasure of dying in Halo 3" just a couple of days ago.) Bottom line: you run the risk of looking like an idiot if you shoot your mouth off about material you haven't bothered to even glance at. (Thompson's one of the most eloquent game writers I've read, and I can't recall an instance where he's advocated anything even remotely degenerate.) (Louis Wu 16:21:50 UTC) (permalink)
Montage Morning
We've gotten word from a couple of Halo communities about montages they've released recently - Lani let us know that Halownage has released a final Halo 2 montage from Fr3sh (7 and a half minutes, 116 mb), and Halo3Forum has a Halo 3 montage with gameplay from Aftershock and Sticktology and editing by TM22 (12 and a half minutes, 255 mb).
