Next up: Counterpoint from Balaho Very cool - a current resident of Mombasa looks at Bungie's imaginings of what his city will become in 500 years; it's a fun read. Thanks, Anton P. Nym. Update: Oops! Jordan117 points out that this article was completely plagiarized from his own Halopedia article on Mombasa. Still cool to see a Mombasan commenting on the use of his city in the game... not cool at all that he did it using someone else's (uncredited) material. (Louis Wu 22:12:55 UTC) (permalink)
Contact Harvest - out for some but not all
Joe Staten clarified the release date issue about Contact Harvest; it was originally supposed to be out on October 14, but the date slipped two weeks because of Halo 3. (If you visit the TOR site, you'll see that both dates are listed on the CH press release page.) As Joe says, you might be able to find the book at some retailers a bit early - but October 30 is still the official release date. (Louis Wu 21:55:03 UTC) (permalink)
Stuff What's Broke Agamemnon let us know about an open letter to "anyone who had anything to do with Halo 2 Vista" - Hired Gun, MIcrosoft, and Bungie. It's really long, and not particularly proof-read, but it's clear that a bunch of people in the Halo 2 Vista community are very unhappy with the state of the game, the editing tools, and the support they're getting from its developers. I'm getting a strong sense of déjà vu... we saw a lot of these same complaints when Halo PC was first released. Bummer. (Louis Wu 21:48:08 UTC) (permalink)
Mullet Chief Whee! Kotaku has a story about making the Legendary Helmet fit a normal human head. You're blind, and your chin is still exposed... but it's mostly on. Thanks, UNSC Trafalgar. (Louis Wu 19:00:51 UTC) (permalink)
Outside more maps IceEagle85 used the technique we mentioned a couple of days ago to get out of Last Resort, Construct, and Epitaph; you can find saved films in his FileShare. Pretty! Update: Omega added Sandtrap to the list. (Louis Wu 12:40:15 UTC) (permalink)
Contact Harvest - out now?
Andrew Nagy stopped by to say he saw copies of Contact Harvest in a local bookstore - looks like it might be out early! (Louis Wu 12:24:57 UTC) (permalink)
I've got a million of those.
Blackstar continues his spate of medal creation - 'Cored!' now covers death by Fusion Core. Awesome! (Louis Wu 12:24:33 UTC) (permalink)
Beauty and the Beast Elnea posted Halo Action Figure Theater #96 last night - she reintroduces a fantastic euphimism, but refuses to elaborate. You'll have to go hunting through old journal entries, I think, if you need an explanation. Or... just enjoy it.

Naughty and Nice. (Mostly Nice.)
Last night's Bungie Weekly Update was a pretty cool shout-out from a bunch of Bungie employees to the people (family and friends and fans) who made it worthwhile for them. (There's also a mysterious warning to folks doing something they shouldn't be doing.) Go read! Roflsalad was first. (As always, it's archived in the Weekly Update Archive as well.) Processing the Mix
Bungie posted a nice tidbit about the Waves Audio Plug-ins used in Halo 3 - Jay Weinland makes sense of the technobabble, and a movie with examples is included. Check it out! Thanks to Ibeechu for the heads-up. (Louis Wu 12:13:44 UTC) (permalink)
Halo 3: Controlling the Game Over at halowiki.net, XVxV3ndettA posted an article about controlling the game of Halo 3. Interesting read! Thanks, PEZ. Update: he's also added a no-scoping guide. (Louis Wu 12:09:41 UTC) (permalink)
