Community Halo 3 Montage
gdejohn is organizing a Halo 3 montage which will feature the best gameplay from the Halo community - but he needs you to provide footage. You don't need editing skills or hardware; just save your gameplay films, and he'll download and record them. Far more information can be found in this MLGPro.com forum thread (registration required) - check it out, and get ready to send him good stuff! (Louis Wu 20:24:33 UTC) (permalink)
Halo 3 Launch Day Predictions
Over at The Hushed Casket, Midnight has been playing with numbers - he's trying to predict the sales of Halo 3 (both in units, and dollars), in the first 24 hours. I'd disagree with some of his assumptions (the two biggies are total 360s sold to date and current number of preorders) - but whether you agree or not, he's laid out his reasoning pretty clearly. Go see what you think! Thanks, rapture. (Louis Wu 20:09:25 UTC) (permalink)
Advanced Forgery
S043 let us know that Bungie's put up the second of three Forge articles - this one looks at Object Editing. Everything you wanted to know about Forge - but were too impatient to wait for Halo 3 to check for yourself.

Wish Fulfillment
Hawty McBloggy is counting down the time to Halo 3 with new activities every day - I suppose the theory isif you stay distracted, you won't go hunting for spoilers on the net. Today's activity: Photoshop a picture of yourself with Master Chief. There are a couple of her, plus some that folks have sent her; she'll add yours if you give her a link. Go look! (Louis Wu 19:03:20 UTC) (permalink)

Floaty Silence 3 - A Fart in the Wind
Hellhawk let us know that he's released Floaty Silence 3. It's basically 'A Whisper in the Storm', with an entirely new soundtrack. Pretty funny! You can grab it in WMP9 format (44.4 mb) or QuickTime format (Sorenson-encoded, 49.4 mb) from us... or you can grab a non-deinterlaced QuickTime version (H.264 encoding, 46.9 mb) from Mythica.org. Go watch! (Louis Wu 17:53:35 UTC) (permalink)

Halo Nights We got a press release from Deep Focus, an agency in New York - they're promoting what has to be one of the oddest music vids I've seen in a long time. From the release: Only days away from the Halo 3 release, Superdeluxe.com and Team Tiger Awesome drops this boy-band ode to Master Chief and the perils of spending all your time blasting the Covenant. I've never heard of Team Tiger Awesome before, but lemme tell you, I'm gonna be googling as soon as this is posted. Check out the video at SuperDeluxe.com... and take a lesson from it! Balance is important. Update: Since the SuperDeluxe link died, here's a link on Team Tiger's page. (Louis Wu 16:39:19 UTC) (permalink)
London Halo 3 Launch Party Many sites have stories about a launch night extravaganza in London (Games Dog, Eurogamer, Pro-G) - apparently Jonathan Ross and Pharrell Williams will both be on hand at the blowout at the BFI IMAX cinema. Over a thousand shops in the UK will be open at midnight to sell you a copy of the game, though none of them will be on Oxford Street (thanks, MCV). Six and a half days... In Halo 3
Andrew Koethe sent us 'In Halo 3', a not-safe-for-work song that talks about all the stuff that happens in Halo 3. Andrew has never PLAYED Halo 3, so the spoilers in the song are wholly fictitious... but it's pretty funny, nonetheless. Again: the lyrics are R-rated, the content is made up from whole cloth - and it'll bring a smile to your face. 2.4 mb, MP3 format. (Louis Wu 12:39:29 UTC) (permalink)
Legendary Edition Giveaway at Futurelooks

Standing with the classics
USA Today has posted a piece which looks at how the story of Halo has affected the people who play it. Good read - and it doesn't hurt that it's got a quote from our very own Miguel Chavez in it! (Louis Wu 11:24:28 UTC) (permalink)
Isolation - Midship meets Burial Grounds
IGN Has posted a preview of Isolation, one of the Halo 3 multiplayer maps we haven't seen yet. Six screenshots (check the screenshots section for the ones not included in the article) and some questions about gameplay answered by Tyson 'Ferrex' Green... go look! (A couple of the screenshots show off some of the UI tidbits for the Infection gametype.) Thanks, tj rome. (Louis Wu 11:17:06 UTC) (permalink)

Under the Needle(r)
Over at Tied the Leader, Dweezle's posted an article about tattoos, and how they help us remember. As the torch is passed from Halo 2 to Halo 3, check this out to see how folks have paid tribute to their favorite game series. (Louis Wu 11:05:12 UTC) (permalink)
Economics of the Stupid There's a great op-ed piece over at the Escapist - how do you rationalize the payment for a Halo 3 preorder when your common sense tells you that money is better off in your pocket? Heh - I know exactly where he's coming from. Really enjoyable read. (Louis Wu 10:59:36 UTC) (permalink)
Halo Games Popular This Week
According to Gamasutra, all three Halo games are on Gamefly's Most Requested lists this week - Halo 3 is number one on the Xbox 360 list, and Halo 2 and Halo took spots one and three, respectively, on the Xbox list. You think folks might be interested in the series? (Louis Wu 10:29:21 UTC) (permalink)
Hello, Halo There are dozens of newspapers doing quick summaries of the Halo universe in preparation for next week's release - I found this one, in the Hartford Courant, to be slightly more interesting than the rest because of some lesser-known tidbits. Did you know that Steve Downes, the voice of Master Chief, was denounced online for being a "boring noob"? (I didn't.) How about that The New York Times compared Red vs Blue to 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead'? (I must have missed that.) Anyway, nice background. (Louis Wu 10:25:10 UTC) (permalink)
Halo 3 How-To: Forge Basics
Also on Bungie.net today - a Halo 3 How-To giving you some Forge Basics. It's just the first of three Forge pieces coming from Bungie - this one will teach you how to get started and do some simple things. Check it out! (Louis Wu 10:14:09 UTC) (permalink)
Blue Filter Tool - Coming Soon
There's a note up on Bungie.net about the blue filter that can be used in conjunction with the Audio/Video Calibration tool that comes on the Essentials disc distributed with the Limited and Legendary editions of Halo 3. The filter is not NECESSARY - but it can be helpful. It's not available yet, but when it is, they'll update you about to get one. (Louis Wu 10:11:12 UTC) (permalink)
