1Up's Friday Halo Content
Meanwhile, over at 1Up's Halo Minisite, there are two new articles - a Halo Story Primer (catch up if you've been sleeping), and a revisiting of Marathon by the Retronauts. Thanks, Avateur. (Louis Wu 23:42:38 UTC) (permalink)
IGN's Halo 3 Launch Center
aklay47 noticed that IGN has put up a Halo 3 Launch Center. Though forum response is tepid at best, there's an interesting collection of material there. (Louis Wu 23:39:37 UTC) (permalink)
New McFarlane Goodies Whoa, very cool. G4TV.com has some gorgeous pictures of the new McFarlane Grunt figures... I want. I want now. (Thanks, FileFront.) According to this page at Spawn.com (McFarlane's website), there are more images coming out on IGN and Bungie.net today - and they might be of different figures. Keep your eyes peeled! Update: Littlebigman pointed out new Master Chief figures on Spawn.com - gawjuss! Update 2: Boxer pointed out the Warthog there, too. (Louis Wu 18:34:37 UTC) (permalink)
I think I might pass...
Heh - nice shirt. Thanks to Zero, on #hbo, for the heads-up. (Louis Wu 18:34:13 UTC) (permalink)
Master Chief - in Vegas
Kotaku got hold of a press release for an unveiling of a new sculpture being created for Madame Tussauds' Wax Museum - it's not mentioned by name, but "it will be the first video game character to be immortalized in the 250-year-old attraction and [...] guests will include representatives from Xbox 360." Oh, and that it's 7-foot-2. (Put that info together with this story, and it's pretty clear who's being unveiled.)
Thanks, jl. (Louis Wu 18:26:51 UTC) (permalink)
I bet you wish you played football.
I sort of have to wonder about stories like this... but it looks like a pair of football players were flown to Seattle to play some Halo 3 - along with a reporter for USA Today. You can read the writeup on USAWeekend.com. (Louis Wu 17:57:35 UTC) (permalink)
It's Starting.
MCV, a British trade site for game marketing, reports that Xbox 360 sales were up 260% two weeks ago, resulting from the Elite model and the price drops. The following week decreased only 20%. And all of this is BEFORE Halo 3 hits the market. Looks like the hope that 360 sales would rise dramatically (a requirement, if Halo 3 is going to set any sales records past that first week) might not be unfounded! See that kitten? That's me. Hawty McBloggy, knowing how panicked you might get during the four hours of Xbox Live downtime coming up this Monday morning, has put together a list of 10 things you can do to pass the time. (Me? I'll probably just sleep.) The first one (which is Halo-related) actually sounds like a lot of fun; if you can figure out how to automate the timing, it might be something worth setting up, for real. Who's The Daddy? Bioshock is currently the Game To Be Reckoned With... Stuntmutt has a few words to say in today's One One Se7en. (Louis Wu 15:22:28 UTC) (permalink)

The Unlucky Elite
Jamie98s sent us another new movie - this one is called 'The Unlucky Elite', and it's all about a poor sucker of an Elite who does his best to kill a Spartan. Lighthearted, not too big, well-filmed - go watch! It's available in WMP9 format (35.1 mb) or QuickTime format (33.1 mb). (Louis Wu 13:06:02 UTC) (permalink)
PixPup - back soon!
Looks like Pixilated Pupils will be back online soon - and as DiscipleN2 noticed, they've used Halo 3 as their vehicle for the announcement. Good to see! (Louis Wu 13:03:24 UTC) (permalink)

Ken Taya Talks Cultural Differences Japanese PingMag has an interview with Ken Taya, Environment Artist on the Halo 3 team.
