Foo Mo Jive - Man in a Pod(cast) Foo Mo Jive, one of the men behind Podtacular, has been Spotlighted over at Bungie.net - KP has gotten the lowdown on the man who blew his one big chance to make money on the Halo community. Art majors the world around - take note! elessar787 was first, it seems. (Louis Wu 21:06:48 UTC) (permalink)
Cutting Remarks. In today's One One Se7en, Stuntmutt looks at one of the characters that was cut from Halo 2 - maybe Bungie recognized the terrible pun potential and cut it in an attempt to avert disaster. Oh, well. (Louis Wu 15:24:43 UTC) (permalink)
Zombies Ate the Master Chief. Over at the Escapist, there's a great article about honor-system-based Halo 2 gametypes (with Zombies being the primary example); these will never show up in Matchmaking lists (because they require that everyone play by non-enforceable rules), but they're loads of fun. Really enjoyable writeup. Thanks, mercury. (Louis Wu 15:13:00 UTC) (permalink)
Halo: Portable - now better than ever Halo: Portable has a bunch of updates - there's a new design, new bandwidth, a new podcast, and plenty of their usual sorts of content. Swing by and fill up your portable device! (Louis Wu 15:01:30 UTC) (permalink)
Play! In Detroit A few days ago, Hextall27 pointed out on our forum that Play! (a videogame music concert series) will be coming to Detroit on July 12. We didn't pick up on it then, so he sent it to us via email. The Play team is hooking up with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for this event... if you're in the area, check it out! Halo music will be played. (Louis Wu 14:49:06 UTC) (permalink)
Generating Philosophers of Play Sep7imus noticed an article over at Wired which discusses the lack of a 'Lester Bangs' of gaming. (Lester Bangs, for those of you under 20, wrote about rock music in the 70s and is considered by many to be the first really influential 'rock critic'.) The article isn't really Halo-related (Halo 2 gets a tiny mention in passing), but it does make the point that good game criticism will likely always come from sites like this one rather than mainstream professional 'game critics'. An interesting read! (Louis Wu 14:44:24 UTC) (permalink)
