DLC Confusion There seem to be a number of questions folks have about the new Downloadable Content, and what's covered (and NOT covered) when you buy it. Major Nelson, Director of Programming for Xbox Live, has posted a DLC FAQ over on the Xbox.com forums (free registration required to see it). There are a number of questions and answers (and he'll be updating as needed) - but the big stuff boils down to the fact that downloadable content is tied to an Xbox, not a gamertag or a Live account. If you have 5 Xboxes, you need to buy the content 5 times. (Alternatively, you can wait until June 28th, and buy the DVD - once.) If your Xbox dies, and you need to replace it - you lose all downloaded content. And so on. Go read the FAQ for more info. Thanks, CYBRFRK. (Louis Wu 22:26:02 UTC) (permalink)
The Face in the Ring Didn't take long... the first egg in the new maps was actually found before they went live (on Turf, you'll find two cola machines; one with a rooster, the other with teeth) - but now that the maps have been released, a slightly less obvious one has been pinned down. Walshicus on our own forum, and A Random Hero on the High Impact Halo forums, both noticed a face in the Halo overhanging Containment - both thought it might be Frankie, but it sure looks to me like Chris Carney. (Thanks to A Random Hero for the screenshot from the level.) (Louis Wu 19:28:23 UTC) (permalink)
Artwork needed The Freelancer Halo mod folks need help with pictures (in-game or fan art) of Covenant and UNSC starships (not fighters). If you've got something that will work, drop by. (Louis Wu 16:33:21 UTC) (permalink)
Monday Morning Missives Eep - moved 'em, but forgot to mention 'em. 11 new stories in the Fan Fiction section today. Go read! (Louis Wu 15:10:25 UTC) (permalink)
Contain Yourself. Bungie has said that the new (free) downloadable map Containment is the largest yet available for Halo 2 multiplay. Stuntmutt agrees - check today's One One Se7en. (Louis Wu 14:48:55 UTC) (permalink)
Newly Transcribed Music at R.net There are two new transcriptions available over at Rampancy.net - Walk in the Woods, and Under Cover of Night (both from the Halo Original Soundtrack) can be grabbed, once you log in. MIDI, PrintMusic, and PDF versions. Thanks to Devin Eastman for the transcriptions. (Louis Wu 14:27:14 UTC) (permalink)
Mandy Patinkin would be proud. Last Stand gets two more episodes today - this comic is really coming into its own. Nice compositing, a storyline, and Princess Bride references - what more could you want? Update: looks like Resolute got an update, too. (Louis Wu 13:24:50 UTC) (permalink)
New maps - available already Word was that the downloadable content would be available by morning-ish, PST, today - but we just got a report (thanks, Jinno) that it's already up, at least in some places. Remember - they're staggering it, so you might not see it right away. Update: Doh - looks like folks have been downloading for hours. Silly me. (Louis Wu 12:12:30 UTC) (permalink)
MLG Orlando Results GotFrag has information and results from MLG Orlando - there's a writeup of the action, as well as the Championship bracket. Congrats to Team 3D (formerly StK) and iGameSpot (formerly Legendz) for the top two spots! Thanks to dedalus and 3Suns for information. (Louis Wu 11:06:11 UTC) (permalink)
Lots more dialogue A few days ago, thesaelens mailed us a collection of new snippets - and yesterday, Captain Spark mentioned another batch he'd posted on his website. The collection - 53 snippets in all - has been added to our Dialogue Databank. Some great stuff this time around! (Louis Wu 10:35:09 UTC) (permalink)
Pains of Life NickLee808 points out that EvilBurger has posted a new Subzero Rivalries... been a little while. (Louis Wu 10:27:02 UTC) (permalink)
