Rumor: Halo series begins filming in Belfast
Intriguing - Grizzlei pointed out a very short fan-recorded clip showing the filming of SOMETHING in Belfast, Ireland this week. (It's labeled 'Halo filming Titanic Quarter Belfast 28/05/2014' so maybe the person who filmed it knows more than the video shows.) Serious Halo Schwag
Noah Gallup (a name that might ring a bell for some longer-term Halo fans) has a bunch of Halo memorabilia that he's decided to sell - you can swing by eBay to see the links. There are some very rare and very interesting pieces - a Joyride Series 1 Cortana figure, a pair of really amazing Muckle Master Chiefs (I have one, they're gorgeous), and more. For the serious collector, this cache is absolutely worth exploring. Some of the auctions have nearly a week left, while others have only a couple of days - so look soon! (As a side note, writing this has made me realize that Noah's 2005 video was one of the casualties of a server loss in 2010 - I'm going to look into putting a new copy online soon. Red vs Blue - the Catch-up Edition
Another thing we've totally missed these past couple of weeks is the continuation of Red vs Blue Season 12. This series has evolved quite a bit; storytelling, music, and the combination of machinima and CGI are all quite sophisticated at this point. Caboose still makes me laugh, but some of the new characters are really interesting, and the plot is compelling. If you haven't been following, Episode 2 (Hit and Run) went live on May 5, and Episode 3 (Something Else Entirely) hit the web on May 12. Go catch up - the next installment launches on Monday! Engadget has a story (unconfirmed at this point) about a product called 'Halo: The Master Chief Collection' - Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4 are being put together in a remaster for Xbox One. Halo 5: Guardians
This morning, 343's Bonnie Ross announced Halo's next main title: "Halo 5: Guardians". In it, she promised not only an impressive title coming to the Xbox One in the fall of 2015 - but she hinted at a pretty fun Halo-related year THIS year, too (with a full announcement coming on June 9, at the E3 media briefing). There's also a little more detail directed straight at fans, from Frank O'Connor, over at Halo Waypoint - along with a very interesting piece of artwork. Flood Infection - 'Banger'
Lord Zedd was digging through Halo 3's code and discovered a suspicious creature tag on the level 'Cortana' - the tag reads 'flood_infection_banger'. The actual model doesn't exist, but Lord Zedd did some investigating and believes that the 'Banger' looks similar to the original infection, but that the infection form doesn't just pop, it explodes like a plasma grenade. Halo PC Saved
Last month we learned that Gamespy was shutting down it's servers, which would result in the shut down of Halo PC's online capabilities. It seems that Bungie and a group of fans have been hard at work
to make sure that Halo CE and Halo PC continue to live on(line). Roger Wilson (Bungie) along with Btcc22, Kornman00, and Technut have been secretly working on version 1.0.10 of Halo PC and Halo CE, which will include a fix for the lobby system. Joystiq published an article highlighting that Microsoft is looking for an experienced designer to work on an 'established and well-loved strategy game franchise'. My guess is that Microsoft is referring to Age of Empires. The fact that Microsoft is building an entire team also makes me doubtful that this is related to Halo Wars - though, one can hope.
