The Old, The New, and the Remade
Last week, 343 released new pictures of Zanzibar, one of the Halo 2 maps getting a complete makeover for the Master Chief Collection. (All of the maps in Halo 2 are getting made over for Anniversary - but 6 of them have been 'reimagined' by Certain Affinity, and Zanzibar is one of these.) John Brent grabbed screenshots from Halo 2 (and even Halo 3's remake of this map, Last Resort) that matched the positioning of the new screens for the H2A Zanzibar, and sent them along to us for easy comparison. Flying the Space Banshee and Seraph on LNoS

MS studio closure shouldn't affect Halo projects
There've been rumblings all week about layoffs at Microsoft... and today, Variety has an article explaining that Xbox Entertainment Studios, responsible for (among other stuff) the two live-action Halo projects currently in the works, is going to be closed. However, it sounds like both projects are among those which will see completion - or at least that's the plan now.
Tellem, Jordan Levin and some of the Xbox Entertainment Studios team will remain with the company to see the completion of its original programming already in production, Microsoft said.
That includes "Halo," the first major project spearheaded by the division, is in advanced negotiations for a pickup at Showtime in a shared window with Xbox. Project is a co-production with Amblin TV.
Others are the "Halo" prequel story "Nightfall," exec produced by Ridley Scott, and the docu "Signal to Noise," about the notorious Atari "E.T" game flop in the early 1980s.

Cloak and Dagger
So every Monday (almost), Rooster Teeth releases a new episode of Red vs Blue Season 12. This past Monday was no exception... but we're just getting to letting you know about it now. We suck. But they don't. This episode is... well, you should watch it. Episode 9 was all about setup - Episode 10 is the punchline for all that. And let me tell you... it packs a wallop. Pay close attention to the music, and you might actually figure out what's going on before it's revealed. Great stuff.

Wow. This video was released by Nowise10 back in April... but I totally missed it until now, when scarab pointed it out. It's a collection of 75 glitches in Halo: Reach - some are things you may have noticed, some are things you'd only see if you were breaking outside of the normal playspace. All of them are clearly bugs that SHOULD have been fixed, had Bungie had infinite time and resources. I'm betting that many of them were known before launch... but sometimes you just have to ship it. I love this stuff, partly because it shows how insanely complicated and rich these games are... and how dedicated fans are to finding things that don't work as planned. Spawning AI in Forge
Gamecheat let us know about his latest Halo AI video. This time he created a map where you can spawn AI in Halo 3's Forge mode. This is really neat because you can now take part in AI battles that you setup. I guess this is the closest we'll get to a Firefight mode in Halo 3. Go check it out! Nightfall Female Lead Announced
Looks like the next big star for the digital series Nightfall has been announced - Christina Chong will play the character 'Macer', though we don't actually know any other details besides her name. Major Nelson announced the schedule of Xbox panels for this years San Diego Comic Con. As you might have guessed, Halo will be there. On Thursday there will be a Halo Nightfall panel that will provide a first look at the live-action series. The Federal Army of Chorus
Even though they were all crazy-busy with RTX this weekend, Rooster Teeth still posted Episode 9 of Red vs Blue Season 12 on Monday. Loading Screen Easter Egg from Halo 3
Lord Zedd found a new easter egg in Halo 3 - he found it in the code, but it's repeatable by anyone who wants to try it. (I just did.) If you load up Halo 3 when your Xbox is set to December 25 (you'll have to be disconnected from Xbox Live if you don't want to wait 6 months), start up a new campaign mission, and then hold in both thumbsticks, you'll see the building of the Halo ring from a further viewpoint. (You can jump back and forth during the loading, and the zoom will track you.) There might even be more to this - but I'm not positive. The first time I tried this, the loading took a while... and it SEEMED I could read some text on the outside of the Halo as it built itself. (I didn't notice this until it was almost finished.) Repeated attempts were unsuccessful, because the loading time was much shorter after the first one, and any text that was created was blurred by the creation process. (It's even possible I was imagining things.) Either way, cool find, and amazing it remained a mystery for 7 years! Thanks, gamerguy2002. Update: Lord Zedd took the info above and loaded the animation from disc (as I did, that first run-through), which slowed it down enough to read the "Happy Birthday, Lauren!" written on the outside of the Halo. So both DeGrouch, on our forum, and Richard Beer, via email, let us know about a new video from Greenpeace... but for different reasons. DeGrouch pointed out that the Master Chief makes an appearance, 11 seconds in. Richard Beer felt that the entire thing was inspired by the Halo 3 Believe diorama. Either way, watching it will give you a sense for why Greenpeace wants you to convince LEGO to break off their partnership with Shell Oil. (No, that part's not Halo-related.) The Scale Keeps Changing

Nightfall Wraps Up Shooting in Iceland
SegmentNext noticed an article on an Icelandic site that mentions that filming has completed on Halo: Nightfall, the digital series to launch with the Master Chief Collection. The Google translation of the original Icelandic is lacking, a bit... but with a little effort, you can get the gist of the quotes from Kiki Wolfkill (who is renamed "Kiki Kill Wolf" by the translator) - Iceland is beautiful, it's worked its way into the personality of the film, and even non-Halo fans will enjoy the final product.
