Halo Data to migrate from B.net before April
If you swing by Bungie.net, you'll see a new article - it puts a final date on the live Halo data they'll be able to manage. That date is March 31 - after that point, all stats (and any other online features related to Halo games) will be found only on Halo Waypoint. Here's hoping that Waypoint stats can be fleshed out a bit more, and features like film clips and screenshots can be migrated by then! (Historical data isn't going anywhere; Bungie will continue to maintain what they already have online. They simply will not be adding NEW data after that date.) (Louis Wu 19:45:14 UTC) (permalink)

Halo 4 indirect info - from toys
wwm0nkey posted these pictures at NeoGAF over the weekend, but it was a busy weekend; he found some boxes for the Jada Toys die-cast vehicles coming out in August at the Idle Hands blog. The artwork is placeholder-only... but it's interesting to see what vehicles will be returning for Halo 4! (Louis Wu 17:40:28 UTC) (permalink)

Revenant1988 came by with a fun writeup of some group BTB activity he calls 'Warthog Diaries: Episode 1'. Sounds like an entertaining evening! (Louis Wu 17:36:58 UTC) (permalink)

Halo Reach Tricks: Hiding Spots
CMNeir is back with another Trick video - this one points out hiding places in Halo: Reach multiplayer maps. Some are clever, but some are simply obnoxious - use these at your own peril. Remember - in custom games, where everyone is choosing to be there, this sort of thing is far less annoying than it is in Matchmaking. (Louis Wu 17:33:32 UTC) (permalink)

Elders.TV Halo Spotlight
Chris from Elders.TV let us know about a new series called 'Halo Spotlight' - it focuses on sites around the Halo community. The first installment looked at petetheduck.com, while the second (posted this weekend) highlights the work of Anniversary Tournament Gaming, a site devoted to head-to-head gaming using gameplay from the Anniversary lists in Halo: Reach. Interesting stuff! (Louis Wu 17:23:53 UTC) (permalink)

DIY Bungie-themed iPod case skin
padraig08 was unhappy that he couldn't show his love for Bungie while listening to music in public - so he designed his own skin for his iPod case. And he made the image available to you, if you want to follow suit. Nice! (Louis Wu 17:09:55 UTC) (permalink)

BTF#8: Wiretapping the Cosmos
Dani stopped in yesterday with the newest Beyond the Frontline editorial at Forward Unto Dawn - this one was written by Dangerous Dave, and it looks back at 'Conversations of the Universe', a small booklet included with the Halo 2 Limited Edition. Dave laments its neglect (and discusses some of the great branches that could grow from it). Do not fear - Frankie sez it's still relevant. (Louis Wu 17:03:05 UTC) (permalink)

Carnage A51 built a new Rube Goldberg machine in Halo Reach - it pays tribute to 343 Industries for the continuation of the Halo franchise. The mine-triggered golf ball (and the ending) seemed really nicely timed. Take a look! (Louis Wu 20:35:41 UTC) (permalink)

Revenant1988 noticed a new line of Funko figures coming soon - he provided links to a Japanese site, but you can see both figures - a Grunt and the Master Chief - on this page, as well. Duck, Duck, GO!
It couldn't possibly be any more fitting that I am sitting in a racetrack media room while posting pete_the_duck's latest edition of his absolutely excellent Forge reality show, Last Forger Standing. Don't miss Episode 3, which gives the remaining forgers the challenge of building there very own Halo racetrack in Forge. The results are all at once hilarious, spectacular, and all-too-familiar. Don't miss this one! (GrimBrother One 16:32:46 UTC) (permalink)

Hedge's Pics Always Get My Pulse Racing
Today's HBO update comes to you live from the media center at Daytona International Speedway, where your race-weathered Grim has ducked into to keep race fans informed of of various speedy-goings on, and Halo fans informed of our favorite franchise. We're now into the 19th hour into the Rolex 24 Hours, and normally, it's hard for me to feel like much compares to the raw and elegant beauty of a proper race car at speed. However, our beloved Hedgemony certainly makes a strong push for top spot on the podium with his latest round of gorgeous screenshots and panos from the most recent Community Customs night. They have awakened my tired and sleepy eyes, and I think they'll do the same for you... check it out! (GrimBrother One 16:07:03 UTC) (permalink)

Custom Challenge Heads-Up
This week's Halo Bulletin had word of a Custom Challenge available on Halo Waypoint that could get you 10x the normal credits - I ran into a little bit of trouble this afternoon, and wanted to pass along something I learned. Skulls are important - if your activated skulls don't EXACTLY match the skulls listed in the challenge, you will NOT get the credits. (Since the available skulls for challenges are Gold-only, this means that you cannot have any silver skulls activated while doing a Custom Campaign Challenge.) I play with the Grunt Birthday Party and IWHBYD skulls activated at almost all times - I hardly even thing about them any more. If you do this too, remember to turn them off before doing Custom Challenges. (Louis Wu 04:18:39 UTC) (permalink)

Unfortunately, it wasn't to be, but it would certainly have been interesting to see John-117 take on Panda! And disturbing, of course. Also related, GrimBrother "Attention Hog" One (wait that's me) ran across a slightly-related article on IGN where they muse that having an energy sword-wielding Covenant Elite as DLC in Soul Caliber V would be pretty awesome. Solidifying the Web Presence
Interesting. Fusible.com found a number of domains that have recently been acquired by Microsoft - many of them are Halo-related, but a couple are just... odd. ClicktoHump (both .com and .org)? Maybe Microsoft bought them to ensure they wouldn't be used for nefarious purposes? Others offer a tantalizing peek into potential marketing ploys - CortanaKnows.net and LostinSlipspace.com make me wonder about what's coming. Thanks to wwmOnkey, over at NeoGAF, for the heads-up. The Pentathlon Awaits
The Halo content is so slim as to be invisible (it consists of a couple of video screens in a single photo), but the Bungie Pentathlon is an annual event of great importance to Bungie employees (and Bungie fans) - and we're pretty big Bungie fans here, so we're gonna tell you about the latest article on Bungie.net. Deej has written up a nice summary of this year's event (which takes place tomorrow), including a mini-interview with Dave Dunn. We Always Figured They Would...
In a pretty awesome piece of news, 343 Industries announced today that McFarlane Toys will be manufacturing a line of Halo 4 toys, as well as continuing the Halo Universe line (I know personally that GrimBrother IV will be ecstatic to see a Fred-104 figure in the lineup!). You can see a partial (very partial for Halo 4 obviously) lineup in the linked press release. Collectors, be at the ready! Also, as a bonus, I would like to personally link you to the local version of this week's Halo Bulletin from bs angel! (GrimBrother One 14:19:34 UTC) (permalink)

Kick Me, I'm a Reclaimer!
bs angel dropped another new Halo Bulletin on us last night. Don't worry, everyone's fine. The focus of the new edition is an excellent interview with Tinkerbell himself, Tim Dadabo. Check it out for some awesome insight into not just how he feels about Halo, but also a peek at some of the many different roles his voice has given life to! (RAID Bugs? Really, Tim?!) The extra-awesome goodie at the end is a 25-minute preview of the upcoming Halo: Primordium audio book voiced by - you guessed it - Tim Dadabo. Go and check it out! [And because Grim hates me, and doesn't believe in mentioning our Halo Bulletin Archive, I'm gonna step in with a local link. And then I'm gonna go have a good cry. -lwu] (GrimBrother One 13:00:26 UTC) (permalink)

Oboe Scores - Halo with a bit of class
A little bit ago, OboeCrazy decided to set fun Reach clips to music - music played by her. Thus was born Oboe Scores. Episode #1 has some great Grenade Launcher action set to a mellow oboe score. Episode #2 was called 'The Friendly Elite' - it's a heartwarming example of how enemies can lay down their arms and get along. (Until one decides to assassinate the other.) And Episode #3 switches things up - the gameplay is from HWM Sarge, the instrument is the English horn instead of the oboe, and the subject is 'The Revenge of the Falcon'. Awesome stuff! A Numbers-Based Approach
Hoovaloov decided to look more closely into how bloom affects the DMR's effectiveness (or, more specifically, how the change due to the Title Update affects the winning chances of folks who pace their shots vs folks who pull the trigger as fast as they can). The results might surprise you. (Interestingly enough, RC Master decided, totally independently, to look at the statistics of the Needle Rifle today, and compare its kill speed (in ideal conditions) to the DMR. Again - fascinating results.) (Louis Wu 15:09:21 UTC) (permalink)
