June 16, 2009 Link to this post Halo - a decent selling point
Heh - looks like Halo's being used to sell PC motherboards these days! Linken91 noticed an ad on the Asus website advertising the Rampage II GENE motherboard. As Psychophan7 points out, it's common for PC manufacturers to use images from games to help sell their products - what makes this different is a pair of factors: 1) the images are clearly composited from more than one game (most images are simply taken from a game's assets - on the same website, Asus uses shots from Crysis: Warhead to sell similar products), and 2) there's an amusing statement at the bottom of all of the ROG pages: "All images strictly copyright asustek 2009 all rights reserved. Any from [sic] of unauthorized use of the contents of this site is prohibited." It's one thing to borrow someone else's design to help sell your product - it's another thing entirely to say it's yours.
