December 2, 2006 Link to this post Halo fights Cancer? This came in yesterday, but I forgot to post it. Over at the website for the Fox affiliate in Houston, there's an article about a doctor who's used input from gamers to design a better sort of radiation treatment system for cancer patients - in his words, they've gone from "a shot gun, where we just blast away with our radiation - to a sniper rifle where we can pinpoint where we deliver our radiation therapy." What's bizarre is the video that goes with the story - clips of the doc, in front of his monitor, pointing out cancerous growths on a brain scan, are clips of some little kid playing Halo 2. As far as I can tell, the choice of Halo was random; the doctor doesn't use Halo in his treatments, just some game theory. I guess Fox figured it would be recognizable to a lot of people... thanks, ChrisVioxxx. (Louis Wu 16:35:20 UTC)
