October 20, 2006 Link to this post Universal, Fox Pull out of Halo Movie Deal Wow. Big news this morning involves the Halo movie - looks like Universal and Fox have both pulled out of the deal, citing fears of ballooning costs, and an unwillingness on Microsoft's part to budge on the existing deal. According to Variety, where I read this story (thanks, runnersdialzero), this doesn't spell the end of the project; work continues at Weta Digital while new distribution partners are courted. There are similar stories at Cinema Blend, CanMag, Joystiq, and Voodoo Extreme (thanks, Rampancy.net) with differing takes on the situation. The Halo Movie blog has put together a bunch of links including video footage of Jackson discussing this on NZ television, as well. As more details become public, we'll let you know!
