We've been having a touch of trouble with our FTP, so this is a bit late, today... but the Halo SETI Marines are kicking into high gear. Almost a 50% increase in daily stats received today, thanks in large part to the addition of Mr Froste to the team. And the team has a new unit leader... Jjaro technology triumphs again! Clicking this link will bring up a page containing all the work that author has submitted... in order. (Makes serial stories much easier to read.) Magh Tuireadh told us that he didn't have the space to put up the medium size of his Halo Re-Mix, so we've decided to help him out. If you want something better than the 10 meg version, but can't handle the 48 meg version... give the 20 meg version a try. Take 2 Interactive, Distributor for Bungie's Halo und Oni has "corrected" the release dates of both games. According to them Oni will be out in June and Halo in September. But we are personally expecting Halo to be out in December.

Freewill was pretty busy with his camcorder at MWSF a couple of weeks ago. He's gotten around to processing all that film he took, and has made it available to the world. Check out the Marty O'Donnell interview, especially... sound quality isn't fantastic, but the information density is great. Hmm... it can be ugly out there. A anonymous email points out that the text and images on the General Info page of Halo HQ (the first one, according to Wednesday's news) was lifted word for word from Halo Command. (Note that if you want to see Halo HQ's page, you'll need to turn Javascript (and possibly style sheets) off in your browser, due to page errors that will prevent it from displaying at all with these features enabled.) MacWorld Helps Unveil Some Storyline
Freewill threw a party at Club-I on Wednesday night, and lots of Bungie folk showed up. One side benefit for Halo fans: a goodly chunk of the backstory got fleshed out. Kudos to Xzzy for the synopsis, since I actually didn't make it there in time to hear it firsthand myself. (Any errors should be assumed to be mine. Too much wine tonight.)
Humans and the Covenant meet by accident in open space, while on expansion missions. The Covenant conquest line heads directly for Earth, so humans decide to try and stop them. There is a huge space battle, in which human forces are decimated. One human ship survives, and its commander, a woman, decides to send her ship off on a random course, to confuse the Covenant. Her people go into stasis for the journey, and come out of stasis in the Halo system. Another space battle ensues, and the human ship is destroyed. Humans eject in the hopes of saving their lives, and find landfall on the Halo, in disarray. You play a highly advanced cyborg trying to turn the tide of a mountain of Covenant soldiers.
