3D printing is changing film
doober187 pointed out a video on YouTube from Legacy Effects, born out of Stan Winston Studio - it discusses how 3D printing is revolutionizing special effects in mass media (mostly movies). The Halo diorama, created as part of the runup to Halo 3, plays a significant role (almost a minute and a half of this 8-minute piece). The Halo content starts around 1:10 or so - but the whole thing is a fascinating watch. (Louis Wu 22:13:49 UTC)
