Omniscient points out a New York Times article (free registration required) that looks at video game sequels as the cash cow of the video game industry - and holds Halo up as one of a very limited number of popular, original games. The article is a good read, explaining clearly WHY the industry is broken in this manner - and showing some of the ways folks are trying to shake up the standard order.
