The Kirkland Reporter has a Police Blotter for last week - and the incident involving the sniper model made the list. The funny part? "The president of Halo was contacted after..." It's like he's a king or something! (Quick screenshot, in case they fix it.) Thanks to Max Dyckhoff for the heads-up. (Louis Wu 12:12:20 UTC)
March 24, 2009 Link to this post Become a Bungie Fan - someone gets a Mythic code!
Bungie's Facebook page is currently at 9,965 fans - they've just posted that they'll post a Mythic Map Pack code when they hit 10,000. Go be one of the last 35 needed! Thanks, Speedhuntr. (Louis Wu 17:09:04 UTC)
March 20, 2009 Link to this post New Digs for Bungie?
According to this article in TechFlash, Bungie will be moving offices, from their current digs in Kirkland to a former movie cineplex in downtown Bellevue. As one of the commenters pointed out, this site is a much higher-traffic location... assuming it turns out to be accurate, how will they keep the fanbois out? (Louis Wu 14:40:02 UTC)
March 20, 2009 Link to this post Where's the Giant Slingshot app?
Bungie put up an official page on Facebook - you can join them as a fan there, if you so choose. Today Facebook, tomorrow... the world.

December 12, 2008 Link to this post Too big for their britches? Not really Halo news, per se - but it's pretty intriguing for Bungie watchers; RotaJota pointed out an article in the Kirkland Reporter that suggests that Bungie might be leaving that town. They're outgrowing their current digs - and apparently the space they need is simply unavailable nearby. The amazing part of all this is that they moved into that building just three years ago - how fast are they expanding, anyway? (Louis Wu 16:28:11 UTC)
January 19, 2008 Link to this post Jerome is King.
Last night's Bungie Weekly Update was added to our Weekly Update Archive very quickly - but there was no chance to come back and put up a news post. It's absolutely worth a read - not just because it talks about upcoming tweaks to online gameplay, or describes the new maps in reasonable detail, or even because it tells you to go watch DigitalPh33r's latest vid... but because it has a collection of great pictures showing Bungie employees destroying cars, hunting Kirkland natives, and playing real-life Grifball. Awesomeness in a bottle. (Louis Wu 14:42:10 UTC)
December 5, 2007 Link to this post Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack - an Early Look
Last week, Bungie invited a group of 'press' - big gaming sites, some local (Seattle) media, and a couple of representatives from the fan community - to their headquarters in Kirkland to get an early peek at the downloadable content coming next week. HBO ace reporter KP (who has the unbeatable advantage of being local to the Seattle area, as far as HBO employees go) showed up and schooled the crowd, apparently. (He went home with some really cool schwag for his troubles - and no, I didn't get a cut.) He wrote up his experience, and you can read his pearls of wisdom (washed of blood and rum) in our Miscellaneous section. Thanks, KP! (Louis Wu 20:13:41 UTC)
October 23, 2007 Link to this post An egglet, I guess. Heh - darthbob found a small egg on The Storm; one of the buildings is labeled 'Section K-434'. This is almost certainly a nod to Bungie's Kirkland offices, at 434 Kirkland Way. Oh, the little things... Update: Schedonnardus let us know that he'd actually mentioned this egg back on September 27 - my bad, I was still behind on the forum at that stage. Sorry, Sched! (Louis Wu 12:44:00 UTC)
October 6, 2007 Link to this post The Split, Reexamined
The New York Times looked at the Microsoft/Bungie split; it doesn't have a ton of new info over other articles about the subject, but is notable for being in the Times, I suppose. It's also interesting because of the image at the top of the article; it shows Bungie environment artist Eric Elton working on "a Halo video game in Kirkland, WA" - but it's not any architecture I recognize. So it's showing either something that got cut from Halo 3, or something that's going into a future Bungie release (DLC, maybe?). Thanks, Usul. Narcogen, over at Rampancy.net, did a great job of summarizing the press reaction to the announcement; articles I found worth reading included an interview GameDaily did with Frankie, a short interview with Brian Jarrard at MacWorld, in which he agrees that future Macintosh development could definitely happen, and an interview at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer with Microsoft's Shane Kim and Bungie's Harold Ryan. We're entering exciting times for Bungie fans... (Louis Wu 19:11:20 UTC)
September 21, 2007 Link to this post Evoking Emotion in Halo 3
Over at Music 4 Games, you'll find a great interview with Marty O'Donnell - tons of info about how he works, how the music for Halo 3 was created, what's next for him. Mike Salvatori sometimes gets left out of the equation when discussing Halo music, because he works in Chicago, instead of Kirkland... but Marty reminds us that he's an integral part of the equation. Go read. Thanks, Greg. (Louis Wu 10:09:05 UTC)
July 7, 2007 Link to this post Things You Might Not Know
This past week, we've mentioned a series of video interviews that Gamepro held with Bungie employees during their recent trip to Kirkland - there's now a short text article that pulls out ten interesting nuggets from those interviews (most of which never actually made it into the videos) - give it a read! Thanks, Anton P. Nym. (Louis Wu 11:18:22 UTC)
June 19, 2007 Link to this post EGM's gonna get their minds blown GhaleonEB noticed a small item on the latest EGM Live podcast - sounds like the crew is headed up to Kirkland to see some Halo 3 singleplayer this week. Yes, you can be jealous now. (Louis Wu 10:29:21 UTC)
May 7, 2007 Link to this post Game Head - Special Halo 3 Episode On Saturday, we got mail from Tim Sweeny, telling us to check out the latest Game Head - the end of it mentions that they're going to be at Bungie's headquarters next week for a big Halo 3 show. I didn't follow up, because I knew that the 'big show' wasn't going to be in Kirkland... it was going to be in San Francisco and New York. (I thought Game Head was just trying to cash in on the upcoming publicity.) However, this morning, Cocopjojo pointed out info about this show on our forum - it's the TIMING that lines up, but the show itself should be pretty fun, they did a bunch of interviews at Bungie's headquarters, and they're releasing it to coincide with the press event this Friday. Good stuff! Update: for folks who just want to see the Bungie teaser, we're hosting local copies - 18 seconds, 2.3 mb, in either QuickTime or WMP9 formats. (Louis Wu 12:48:21 UTC)
February 15, 2007 Link to this post Jerome will hurt you. Sam Van Tilburgh, Community Liason Officer at Lionhead Studios (now a part of Microsoft's gaming empire), visited Seattle recently, for meetings with other MGS community officers. During his visit, he tried to stop by and see a colleague, Jonty Barnes, formerly head of Black&White Studios, now heading production at Bungie - and he couldn't get in. (He blames this on the recent alpha leak - but Bungie's security has been ridiculously tight since they moved to Kirkland.) Fun read... thanks, Xavier De Coster. (Louis Wu 16:14:48 UTC)
November 11, 2006 Link to this post The Halo-only version of the 1Up Show EGM's Mark MacDonald pointed out that the Halo-specific portion of the 1Up show can be watched via streaming flash (or downloaded, in hi-res form) from GameVideos.com. And I'd like to take this opportunity to announce that I'm a little silly sometimes; I described the Halo content in the first news post of the day - but I was describing the content of Episode 53, not 54. This new one contains video footage of the EGM team in Kirkland (though no onscreen action), as well as interviews with Lars Bakken, Tyson Green, and Marty O'Donnell. Check it out! (Louis Wu 15:55:07 UTC)
October 12, 2006 Link to this post It ain't just KP any more Tempus Fugit noticed an entry in IGN editor Doug Perry's blog, discussing an event that just went on recently in Kirkland - EGM guys, as well as some European journalists, got to play a full day of Halo 3 multiplayer (as well as seeing a short single-player clip). Good stuff! (Louis Wu 21:57:39 UTC)
April 26, 2006 Link to this post The Webcam is Back Alstrong discovered that the Bungie Webcam, dormant since before the move to Kirkland, is live once again. Currently it seems to be sitting in a room with a server rack in it (though I'm having trouble figuring out why there's plywood in the image...). No Halo content - yet - but hey, you never know! (Louis Wu 12:50:56 UTC)
September 17, 2005 Link to this post Crazy old bats and pimpin' rides The Bungie Weekly Update has been posted - it's a report from the floor of the Tokyo Game Show, filed by none other than Frankie. It's completely devoid of Bungie-related material - but then, the folks back in Kirkland didn't do much except move in and hold their annual Pentathlon (which will be covered NEXT week), so I suppose it's okay. If you're a gamer, there's some pretty cool stuff in the report - go read! (Louis Wu 00:06:02 UTC)
September 10, 2005 Link to this post Too many planes in too few hours I'm back - thanks to Ding for minding the store while I was gone. I did a pretty silly thing (though not one i regret for a second) - I went on a spur-of-the-moment trip across the US to attend the moving-in party Bungie was holding at their new digs in Kirkland, WA. (We've mentioned the move a couple of times - you can check our news for more info.) As I mentioned in a forum post last night, I was pretty darned impressed with the new space; it's gorgeous, well-thought-out, spacious, and productivity-enhancing. And such. Anyway, I'm home, and though I'm taking the evening off to attend a function with my wife, I WILL be doing my best to catch up on all news since Friday - probably tomorrow. For those who missed it, there was a Weekly Update posted at B.net last night, as usual - as of 3 pm yesterday afternoon, there were over 8500 Hurricane Katrina shirts sold, for a Red Cross donation total of over $120,000. WOW. (I got a look at some of the auction items that will be made available soon - man, I hope these go for what they're worth, because that will be a LOT of money.) There's also info on the Halo movie, music, stuff they won't talk about, and Matchmaking playlists. And of course, a Mister Chief piece - in fact, one you'll be able to bid on soon. Go read! (Louis Wu 22:47:36 UTC)
August 20, 2005 Link to this post OMG MISTERCHIEF IS A HOUSE OMG The Weekly What's Update has been posted; there's info about the upcoming free release of all maps that are currently not free (and you should definitely download them soon after August 30, because they WILL be integrated into all playlists; if you don't have 'em, you don't play), and info about Kirkland, where the Bungie team is moving to (apparently, the other game developers complained about the smell so much that Microsoft moved them several miles away). And there's a link to Aaron Walpole's Canadian Idol page - he's in the top 5 now (this was mentioned by D-Man earlier today, but I passed on it because it's not really Halo news... but since it's in the WWU...). And there's a mister chief picture that just creeps me out. Go read. (Louis Wu 00:28:57 UTC)
March 23, 2005 Link to this post We finally got a piece of the pie... Looks like Microsoft is moving the Bungie team from their digs in the Redmond Millenium campus into the Kirkland Hardware Store, in Kirkland, WA (a few miles away). Apparently, they're growing out of their existing space, and this is a way to keep them together as a team. (Of course, it separates them from the REST of the MS-based game developers... but hey, nobody liked those guys anyway.) The move should take place later this year, once renovations on the Kirkland property are complete. Thanks, orion 12. (Louis Wu 19:13:57 UTC)
